Since you're talking about Augmented Steam, you should've also talked about Steam Grid DB, which has official or custom artworks, static or animated, for Grids, Heroes and Logos. :)
One thing I hate about the new UI is that it doesn't give me a "total needed HDD space" when I want to install multiple games. It's been removed.

Regarding the age thing, Steam have mentioned it a few times, but they legally have to get you to 'verify' your age every time you attempt to access 'restricted' content.

Got to love verifying for an action game that has realitively standard violence that everyone now accepts, but some grotesque horror piece or a porno game doesn't need it, popping straight up without warning in a queue.
(writing this I'm guessing that's because most of those extreme content games aren't rated or released by official orgs, therefore not being eligible for the age verification law, but it's still funny to look at)

Btw, for the downloading while playing setting, you can configure that per game. So if a game is completely offline anyways or _very_ lightweight and not resource straining, you can enable steam downloads in the background of just that game, so you can essentially specify which games you can use as background waiting games.

So much this!! It's such a useful setting that I don't think I've seen in any other launcher yet. I keep the main setting as 'Allow' since I don't think you can customise that for non-steam games added manually, but have every regular game set manually to 'Allow' or if it's multiplayer, 'Dont Allow'. AMD's drivers helped as well, but Valve is still submitting fixes to even that, they maintain Proton, upstreaming patches to wine, supporting Linux desktop with Steam, and just overall contributing a lot. One of the hidden feature of Steam that I didn't realize at first but noticed it accidentally, is if you have the same Steam account logged in on two different PCs with same OS, and one of which doesn't have, let's say, Dota installed and the other one have, when you press install, Steam actually uses local connection to transfer the game data from one PC to the other rather than redownloading from the Steam server. The big picture changes has been annoying me quite a bit too. If you think the controller controls are weird and inconsistent, I would recommend you to try out the phone remote play with steam link app and the mouse and keyboard experience too, both locally and through steam link remote play.
Also, for the "remote desktop hack" I used it in the past too, but there's a much easier way to do it, there's a desktop version of the steam link app that allowed you to directly remote into the computer that brings you directly into the big picture interface, and you can just minimize that one and do whatever you want.

I can see using it for other games as well, mainly rpgs or some more chill games where I might have a guide or a video running with 50% opacity. The new updates have been much appreciated. However I was completely unaware of augmented steam so I might have to check it out.

RIP to the older, better, big picture radial keyboard where you didn't have to manually navigate for every letter and could instead just point the stick towards the letter group you wanted, then one of the face buttons would select the right letter. A little getting used to, but drastically faster. Actually maybe that was removed a while ago, it was still better so damn it bring that back as an option!

All the new Steam interface updates are nice and all, but I prefer the older ones without useless animation. It is also sad that they kinda broke/removed with these updates the feature of adding custom Steam skins.

Yeah I miss the simplicity of the previous interface. For example now when one of my friends family sharing a library of over 200 games to me *mine and his games mix in the list*, and there's no way to filter them off.
      Just why Valve....
I literally had to make my own list called "games I bought" and now have to remember to add every new game I buy to that list manually otherwise I can't find it without using search among the sea of family shared or even just *all the free games I played in the past* trash.

I really wish the Steam client supported plugins so we could use Augmented Steam on the client itself. It's suuuch a good tool. Also, I spent that whole video waiting for you to mention the Steam Link in the background lol I loved that little device. I keep thinking about what would happen if Valve released a Steam Link device with general media streaming features like what a Roku can do. If I could get a turnkey device that I could use to stream some games, watch TV and access my Plex server all from the same device I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

steam has so much untapped potential when it comes to... everything. they have pretty much the equivalents of discord, twitch, other social media platforms etc, and theyre all built in to steam itself; all they need is a better way of displaying it, maybe even a way of monetizing it.

In case anyone doesn't know, Valve has no managers or bosses - everyone can work on whatever they choose to. This is why some features aren't fully fleshed out, like the authorized devices. Here's a great video on what it's like to work there: ua-cam.com/video/s9aCwCKgkLo/v-deo.html

1 thing I absolutely hate, is the way Steam started doing notifications.
Get an achievement = Steam plays a sound.
You can disable this, but it disables all sounds (for new messages and such as well), which is just straight up dumb.
We've got 4 options for Toast and Sound - yet achievements isn't part of that - but it really should be.

A few features were removed too (probably accidentally)
You used to be able to search for a collection name you can't anymore, same with the friends tab. Before you could search for a game that a friend was playing in the friends tab.
