- TikTok has filed a lawsuit aiming to block a US law that would ban the app in the country - unless it is sold by its Chinese parent company.
The social media company said that move was an “extraordinary intrusion on free speech rights” of the company and its 170 million American users.
President Joe Biden signed the bill into law last month, citing national security concerns - following claims that TikTok’s Chinese ownership raises the risk that data on US users could fall into the hands of the Chinese government.
But, TikTok has maintained it is independent of the government, while parent company ByteDance said it has no plans to sell the business.

Am I the only one who's never been on TikTok, haven't even download it on my phone!!! 😂
I'm also dude
I'm a female and I have never downloaded it and I have no desire to use it.
Same here
I think it is kind of pointless to have
@@redcrimson718what the hell does your gender have to do with this??
All child social media accounts should be directly linked to adult supervision by at least one of the following: father, mother, legal guardian, school ICT officer, school headteacher (not every teacher), or social worker. If not then the social media company should not be allowed a license.
Why is BBC saying no word on Brazil’s worst flood ever? Thousands of people in need of help, their houses covered with water, lost every single thing, have no food or safe drinking water, their cities now have no access other than through helicopters, and the president is denying help from neighbouring countries. President Lula is a shame to Brazil. Please cast light to this horrible chaos that’s happening.
Our own population is helping the affected people and rescuing families, babies, children, even animals.
Were are the United Nations? Where is humanitarian help?
BBC is more worried about celebrities and their outfits and wars in well known countries.
Ps.: the floods are natural here, but the government didn’t prepare well enough to make passages to the excess water.
Google Porto Alegre enchente and be very startled. Imagine if it was New York.
Yea I wondered that, that’s big international News right??

Too bad a Chinese owned corporation isn’t and American company that actually had freedom of speech rights. IE the Bill of Rights apply
To Americans not foreign entities
@Kyle38Ano they don’t have the right to
@@Stank18yes, they do, any company operates in US has the right.
Literally double standards.
Free speech rights?? Chinese company?? HAHAHAHA
White corporate companies are 100 percent legit. Sheltered clown
Mate, Mitt Romney has literally admitted they're banning TikTok to suppress pro-Palestine content
Then prove they are better than the CCP, or they are just all the same
Je comprends pas la folie des applications de ses dernières années : tiktok, Snapchat, Facebook, twitter, etc et les jeux style clash of clans, clash royale et brawl sans aucune sécurité et avec plein des risques dans la population (jeux multijoueur en réel).
Blocking TikTok is a sign of totalitarianism. George Orwell "1984"
It’s not a ban, it’s a hostile takeover by greedy investors.
Imagine so much politics and tyranny surrounding videos of kids dancing and funny dogs.
Are u sure about that
安理會要調查法案提案人嗎???
Just admit its racism
And it starts…😮
when bbc isn't free then how can tik tok be?
有没有湖北人
There is a difference between free speach, and a company actively pushing propaganda videos through the use of algorithms.
If they believed in free speech; why did they ban Andrew Tate and Riley Gaines?
Tik tok and free speech doesn't fit in a sentence 😂
I mean, it is probably the least censored site. That's what people seem to be forgetting, and why "they" are trying to shut it down.
They're the only social media site not suppressing pro-Palestine content

Ban tik tok in the US. If cry babies don't like it, then leave.
So along as u don't Boycott but Ban then BDS is fine right?
Boycotting the bbc would be better
Ironic
Huh???
Does this lawsuit mean we may be able to have some free speech?
I am Ukrainian and I am not a Tik Tok user and this is my choice
It is sad. 🤐

Foreign company.. nope! Bye!
Then goodbye to American campaigns around the world.
Yes, because there are no foreign companies in the US right? 😂
Ohh the irony...
Hahaha free speech.
That's cute, coming from TikTok.
tik tok just sound like it's for kids, not something i need or want
It's one of the few places that isn't censored to the max, hence why it needs to be shut down.
The problem is that it sets precedent for the government to ban something that you do want or need.
Only American people have freedom of speech. Not company’s. Case dismissed
This is why students have been arrested for protesting recently.
Such irony. Corporations literally own the US government.
The woke trans people won’t be happy about this
Why?
Why the obsession with trans people?
Free Palestine 🇵🇸 ❤
Why?
A propos of nothing… tell it to TicToc.
Free Palestine, they were promised a state since 1919 well before modern Israel existed.
