Thank you for making this. It is very well done. I have a Dometic Penguin II and the matching Dometic SmartStart. I have a question but not sure if this is an appropriate place to ask. Dometic support was very vague. Happy to pay a service fee.
Great! So, mounting the SoftStart on the motor and replacing the stock wire harness from the compressor to the capacitor (red/white) and the blue thermostat wire was easy. My confusion is with steps 7-10 on the Dometic instructions in section 8.2.2 referring to the motor starter wire and motor starter capacitor. epi.dometic.com/externalassets/accessories_9610004640_111138.pdf
@@rackupgo I have the same ? as Rick. Haven't purchased the Smart Start yet. But I've scouted my Penguin II and read the Dometic Instructions and they have a couple places that are a bit confusing.
@@rickloring2228 It looks like the Penguin II differs a bit from the FreshJet install (two capacitors as opposed to one). Without opening up a penguin II and looking at the wiring, it’s a bit difficult to explain through messaging. If you haven’t opened the unit up yet, please do so and it might make a lot more sense with the line drawings in the instructions. You're welcome to send us photos at customercare@rackupgo.com and we can try and walk you through it, otherwise, it may be a good idea to visit a professional installation shop in your area.
Hi, I installed this smartstart on my dometic, ive heard there is a way to train these soft starts ? Like using it hooked up to a 30 amp service and run it for a certain amount of time etc.. is this true ? I ask because mine didn't run my 13,500 btu ac but my honda 2000 might have been slightly underpowered and also I forgot to shut down the converter
I am working on a brand new Blizzard NXT. My procedure is a bit different but I made an error. I removed the red and white wire from the start capacitor. I know where the new smart start white wire goes but not the red one on the capacitor. I have another red wire from the fan on the F terminal. The HERM terminal has nothing connected to it. I believe that the Red smart start wire from supply goes to HERM but manual refers to the F terminal. Help.
I want to install on my AC Unite on RV here in Thailand where Source is 220 Volt AC I buy the smart start for my Fresh Jet 3000 , will it work , I keep seeing 120 volt ?
Thank you for the very well demonstrated video. This is going to make it easier for me to install on my a/c unit. Thanks…
Thank you, glad it was helpful!

Great video, sir!
Thank you!
I just installed the smart start on my unit and I LOVE IT little to no resistance when the compressor starts up.
Great to hear!

We recommend calling us and asking for tech support. They’re the brains behind this operation!

How much does a SmartStart cost and how much Amperage does it lower it during startup?
$299, and amp decrease is all relative

These are made for the US market, 120VAC only
does supply voltage matter - 120 volt or 220 volt????
120 only
