@@AurumSyC The (possibly customizable) MC of FFXVI (canon name: Clive Rosfield) doesn't look like a waifu. I mean, they only revealed their male design, but even then, they look pretty ordinary for an FF protagonist, so I don't think a default female Rosfield will look waifish.

Secondo me FFXVI funzionerà come Pokémon: puoi scegliere l'MC tra un design maschile e uno femminile non personalizzabili, scegli tu il nome e selezioni dialogo con le opzioni (dubito fortemente che lo Scudo di Joshua sia parlante). Il sesso che non scegli ha il nome di default (Clive se sei donna, ??? se sei uomo) ed è usato come aspetto di un altro personaggio (il Dominante di Ifrit).

I'm sure the next trailer will reveal the female design of the MC. I bet the MC's default name is Sophie Rosfield. Or I would have liked Elisa Rosfield, Makoto Rosfield, Kei Rosfield, Megumi Rosfield or Yuri Rosfield, but those are unisex names so I doubt they'll use them for a woman if the MC is named Clive Rosfield (an exclusively male name).
According to me, FFXVI will work like Pokémon: you can choose the MC between a male and a female design, not customizable, you choose the name and select dialogue through options (I strongly doubt Joshua's Shield is non-silent). The gender you don't choose has a default name (Clive if you're a woman, ??? if you're a man) and is used as the looks of another character (Ifrit's Dominant).

I think Final Fantasy is pretty cool as a science fantasy. There’s magic and stuff but to base it in a world with science makes things more interesting

You know, I think there's more to this than just an april fools joke. There's no way anyone would put this much time, thought and money into this just for one april fools joke.
It might be just an idea, just like Agni's Philosophy, but I agree with you that some of these ideas might be used for the future chapters.
Even tho I'm quite done with the futuristic environment like 13-15 and would love a more FANTASY theme like 9-10 or the medieval one like the first fives

The only "futuristic" city is Zanarkand in the tutorial, the present Zanarkand is just a land of ruins.
FFX is inspired a lot by (south east) Asia culture, it feels really fresh and pretty unique for me!

You guys should try ff7 PC and crank up the in game settings and then turn on all of the nvidia or AMD post processing and especially antialiasing at 4 6 or 8k. It will blow your mind that it could look that good. Too bad you can't easily edit the textures like skyrim

By the way, the series needs to take lessons from GOT and learn to kill off protagonists mid-game. For instance, Cloud in FFVII Remake part 2, he needs to die in place (or alongside) Aerith. And STAY DEAD unlike the bullshit resurrection the TV show did to Jon Snow

The original upload (which for some reason has a fraction of the views) is in 1080p, so you could say the 4K option is part of the joke. There's even another "upscaled" 4K upload that's seemingly even blurrier than the original.

@@zeitscar1486 Gameplay is callback to old FF battle systems with few ideas from most of the series mixed in, like for example you learn new limit breaks by equiping weapon or armour with specific ability. Once you master it, you can use it without having that equipment piece equipped, just like in FF9. There are more callbacks like this. Also good strategy can make you win battles you are way underleveled for. I play it since it lunched and didn't spend a single penny on it, just adapt my tactics if necessary
