    one of the best and beautiful out there- love 2up ridin with our TRV- and the H1 motors are one of the best single out there- stronger then my 640ktm - and even more reliable!!

    Love my 2014 700 TRV. Great motor and power steering is great. Hate the new front, but can live with it. You can reclutch and put in heavier wet clutch springs, will be a lot quicker.

      I have a 2017 TRV 700 and have relatives with standard and TRVs going back many years. They’re good units. Not the fastest or he most options but they’re reliable and good value. Solid machines with decent performance and well thought out features.

    I have on 04 400 4x4 Arctic Cat machine. Great bike, it's slow, but ultra reliable. I'd love to upgrade to a bigger Arctic Cat ATV or side x side from them, but so far I really don't see anything that really turns me on. Honestly, the fit and finish on them seems to be lacking from what I've seen, and there is a serious lack of dealers around me. I use to have about 4 or 5 dealers around me within a hour or so drive. Now there's 1.... I am hoping they update the entire line up soon. Seems the sled's get all the attention now a days. The dirt lineup from Arctic Cat seems to almost be an afterthought to them. Very unfortunate. Nice review you did on this machine. Enjoyed it.

    Nothing on this machine really changed from when it was a CAT to when Textron bought CAT. 2015 Cat made this available. Nice video guys...well done.

      Oh but they did change stuff in 2020 and that's why I made that review. pleasantly surprised about the fit and finish, the updated seats and global performance probably due to proper tuning. Very well sorted ATV now.... Can we have an 800 or 1000cc Cat now with a good engine?

    Great review, and thank you for all the great information on your channel. I am in the market for a new atv and I'm torn as to what to buy. We had a Grizzly that we rode two up - I know not ideal or safe but we are tourers not motocross, so we carefully made it work - but now I want to get something new. Most likely SxS but honestly my heart still prefers a 2up atv, so both are on the table. as mentioned we are touring type folks, and mostly do light trail riding, nothing hardcore (although I do like to get out on my own every now and then to rip!!).
    I have been all over the map, and we have a limited budget - I love the Honda 1000-5 but 26k??? (I'm in PEI, CANADA) So as an alternative I am looking at 2ups - CF Moto and now the Alterra. In the SxS world I like the Mule Pros, Teryx, Wolverine, Viking, ans the Textron (not any for of old Arctic Cat quality). I'm not a fan of Polaris quality, and Can Am seems pricey and really $$$ to maintain. Our biggest reason for going to SxS is simple - grandkids, so if we can take three or four great.
    At the moment of this comment I am leaning towards a Mule Pro FXR/FXT or Teryx4, but my $$$ isn't burning a hole so I'm in no rush to make a bad decision. What are your 'off the cuff" thoughts? What machines have caught your eye as far as value goes. I am NOT a mechanic. I have done some of my own work but I just hate it. Love the Grizzly - change the oil & air, and go! Our riding style and terrain is open dirt roads, a few trails, we can avoid narrow (50") trails, and run light to moderate speeds. In comparison, when I was younger, I had a sled, and we ran all night right to the limit. Thte throttle was like a light switch - either ON or OFF. That is NOT how we ride our atv. LOL.
    I know this is a long comment, but I suspect I am not alone in my query. As the market & products develop, and the population ages, I believe there are a lot of people looking to a comfortable, quiet, trail machine that is capable of light work tasks, to give them a fulfilling riding experience that they can share with family.
    All and any comments are welcome. Ride on!

      You don't want this doesn't even have diff lock 3 wheel drive is not worth it. Get a polaris. I went from grizzly and honda to a polaris sportsman 850sp and I'll never go back. It's like riding on a cloud and no messing with buttons or stopping for diff lock just leave it in 4wd and it will stay in 2wd until any wheel front or back rotates only a few degrees different than the others it locks all 4 wheels in. At first I thought o so I gotta wait for wheels to spin to get 4wd. But then I tried it you can't even tell you can put it in low gear and in snow and barely creep and just all 4 wheels just instantly lock in I've never noticed once when it changes from 2 to 4 . And since I got my sportsman I've lifted it and put 29 inch tires on it nothing to crazy and it's just so comfortable. The power is crazy. It can pull anything. I have a little girl and she rides with me the seat is amazing like riding a cadillac. The power steering is amazing and you get it all for ten grand.

      Well, having worked for a Cat dealer' service dept. I stand by what Powersports Quebec said. I had dozens of cases with that 1000cc engine blown to bits in the quads and in the Wildcat X. Sorry but those we're one of the worst 1000cc class engines in the business.

    Great honest review thanks for that. As for the brakes the pads they take forever to break in my 2016 took 300 klms to feel good. Maybe aftermarket pads would help. At the price point its going for junk tires is all you can expect

    • @ATVGUYS
      @ATVGUYS  4 роки тому +1

      Hello Jim. The demo I had during the review (in the snow footage) was well broken in and I always compare to the other units I sample. With all the other two seaters in the Canadian market having linked brakes, the Alterra falls short on brake modulation and feel in comparison. It's not a deal breaker but I think it's well worth mentioning. And yes the stock tires are absolute garbage.
      I have my very own tire brand (Traxion Offroad) and call BS on manufacturers installing garbage on such great machines. Would you pay like 150-200$ extra to have premium radial touring tires on a two up rig? I would. That's the amount it's going to cost them to have great tires installed at the factory. And I'm being very loose on cost because they can get awesome pricing for volume purchases.
      Bottom line: Great (actually now, one of the best) mid size touring atv with below average brakes and crappy stock tires.

      ATV GUYS As far as your English goes, I think you’re doing a phenomenal job. I personally believe you don’t have to change a thing. I enjoy watching videos that the reviewer holds nothing back. Us as Canadians get a bad rap for that it seems. Too nice lol. Also not everyone needs the biggest, baddest or fastest machine on the market, so reviews on basic atv’s without all the options that are affordable to “ the average joe” are just what is missing I think. Giving an honest review and not sugar coating is what’s lacking on You Tube. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy seeing reviews on quads that shoot roost into the next province too, but all the big channels go for big bore quads first. Also you being a mechanic you see problem areas where the average consumer wouldn’t. That is also a nice perspective expressed on your channel. Keep the awesome videos coming!

    Thanks for the honest review. I have a 2018 Alterra TRV100i XT. A great machine in general but the brakes took ages to bed in. Even now I sometimes want a little more road or track to slow down. Obviously AC haven't improved on this in recent years. Also, that rear storage compartment was definitely an after thought. Feels very flimsy and poorly made. After a couple of years I have gotten use to it falling off, this is why I no longer use it. Plus it is not waterproof. I find the H2 engine to have more than enough power for what I have ever needed. I wonder how a 700cc would compare. Especially with 2 adults on and some serious mountain trails.

    • @ATVGUYS
      @ATVGUYS  4 роки тому +1

      The 700cc engine is not at fault here, it's no slouch but it lacks in low rpm torque and high rpm horsepower... It's a very solid engine with a very flta torque spread startinf at 2000 rpm to 5500 rpm out of that range it's where you will find it lancking against the competition. for 2 up riding, I like it for exactly that reason, it's tame enough to keep the quad as comfortable as possible for the passenger... the big horsepower machines are mainly fun for the driver, the passenger often gets a long neck workout with the negative effect after the the ride..
      Smoothness os the key in the 2 up long day touring segment and this unit does this extremely well. Actually it's the best at it now. (I never thought i'd be saying this about a cat someday but it's exactly that) The best entry lever 2 up high daily mileage tourer out there)

      It isn’t the best sounding or most powerful engine, but you’ll never need more. When you get in the mud 1000cc machine with caked tires is going nowhere like a 300cc with caked wires. It’s not an exciting ride but you never npfeel like you “need” more power and after a day of 150km you’ll never feel exhausted.
