The Manga tells us a little bit about Inosuke’s backstory and his family, but we don’t get too many details on what exactly happened between his mother Kotoha and her family that brought her to Douma’s home that fatefful day. In the manga we see Douma remembering Inosuke’s mom as a beautiful woman who he never intended to eat, however he had to put an end to her when she discovered that he was a demon as to keep it a secret from other members of his Eternal Paradise cult. We get a short description that Inosuke’s mom came from a troubled marriage, but the Databooks tell us that this all started one morning when Baby Inosuke was crying. It began in the morning and continued all the way into sun down, and Inosuke’s mom could handle it, but the father went into a rage and started to violently shake Inosuke until he was quiet forever, so Kotoha bites him on the hand, grabbing Inosuke and running to the nearby Monastery to try and find shelter, and as Doma took her into his home, it wasn’t long before her husband and mother in law came to get her back, with Doma saying they’re too noisy and scattering them across the mountainside rocks.

You explained it strangely, but the husband was physically abusive towards the mom, and the day she ran away he almost beat her to death. That's why Inosuke was crying.
He beat her so badly she was partially blind in one eye. The mother in law was aware of the abuse but overlooked it. Douma only killed the MIL and husband cus they were noisy lol

I think not, because wheter douma likes it or not, he'd end up killing them because muzan wouldn't be pleased by it, so it's either he get ordered to kill them, muzan kill them himself, or this scenario. Plus inosuke inherited his mom's sharp senses which inosuke will come at a time soon that he will be the one to find out douma is a demon. It's sad but there's never really a happy ending for inosuke and douma😢

Douma is a nice demon, who rescued them from the death. He had a soft spot for Kotoha and Inosuke. He did care for them like they were a part of his family. Even if he didn't had any emotions. He did enjoy their company. Douma did like watching Kotoha taking care of baby Inosuke and like to listen her singing. He did take care of baby Inosuke too. He wasn't aware of his own feelings. That why he thought, that it wasn't really any emotions he feeled, but only a act. If he didn't cared for Kotoha, then he didn't had any reason to explain himself to Kotoha, when she discovered the truth of him. He maybe ate the followers, which were bullying Kotoha. Douma killed Kotoha accidentally, because he was in panic state and couldn't think straight, because he was afraid, that his cult would find out the truth too, if Kotoha manage to flee and tells everyone, that a demon is leading the cult. A group of Demon Slayers would be send there and everything would be over for Douma. I'm sure, if baby Inosuke didn't got throwed down the cliff, that Douma would have took care of him as his own son.
Yeah, it's such a missed opportunity.

That’s why I love the fan comics and fan animation of both Kotoha and Douma. It shows the true potential of what could have been and made Douma a very complex character. Because of the fan community (and Douma’s own sheer beauty,) that’s why he’s my favorite demon (Akaza is my second favorite.)

I mean I know Dome has a dark character and all but I honestly want to think he did care about a Inosuke's mother but when she tried to leave he felt betrayed and he felt he had no choice but to eat her. Could you imagine in a different Universe though where Doma was actually a Demon Slayer as a hashira and adopted Inosuke as his stepson marrying his Mom, and then later taught Inosuke ice breathing that would be insane. I mean to me seeing Doma actually have genuine feelings about anything is kind of frightening because it's the only instance where this humanizes his character at all
Kanao managed to get him angry. My theory is doma wants to learn emotions he is always trying to be friendly with the other moons and that's also his trigger if someone calls him out for being empty and emotionless he will get extremely mad. He almost killed kanao because she was monologing about his emptiness
You forgot to mentioned that Kotoha was blind on one eye due to the abuse she had from her husband.
And doma sees her as a pretty songbird as she had a nice singing voice that pleases him.
The fact that douma loved kotoha and saved her from her husband really makes me happy

Douma definitely has a soft spot and even a admiration for people who are able to genuinely love another. Gyutaro and Ume, Kotoha, and Shinobu.
I'm imagining an AU where Kotoha did not run away and served Douma willingly. Maybe we would have gotten Inosuke as a mini-Douma with a cheerful but still bloodthirsty personality. Maybe we can have Inosuke still be a human with Ice Breathing.
I bet that Douma feeled the closest thing to pure love for Kotoha.
It's always nice when you see a psychopath actually caring for someone else. Well as much as a psychopath can. It truly means that that person is special and Douma did protect Inosuke and his mother and gave the husband and monster-in- law some karmic justice.
Douma actually feel care for kotoha......even though he doesn't have emotions he wasn't able to recognize how he was feeling to kotoha but it was LOVE ...... Kotoha found out that he is a demon but still he don't want to eat her after killing her .....Douma cried himself to what he was doing but Muzan's voice was forcing Douma to eat her and saying again and again to eat properly otherwise Muzan could also hurt Douma😢

I doubt Douma actually felt any compassion towards Kotoha, seeing his sociopathic nature. If anything, whatever attachments he had probably stemmed from pity on her and her simple mindedness. It’s clear he thought of her as rather ignorant and lacking self awareness, and i believe he also admitted that he acknowledged she was extremely beautiful, so enjoying how easy on the eyes she was and assuming she was too ignorant to ever figure out his true identity, Doma probably perceived her as almost like a pet that he could keep around as a small pleasure.

I feel like if Kotoha didn’t find out three things would have had happen between her and Douma.
A) Actually let her live till she died of old age with Inosuke.
B) Would have gotten bored of her and ate her, idk what he would do with Inosuke in this situation.
Or C) When she was getting old and her beauty was fading, turn her into a demon. And I would assume he would have also turned Inosuke into a demon as well.
The last option would have been a very interesting what if. But we will never know.
