Gotta check out "Gimme All Your Lovin", "Sharp Dressed Man", and "Legs"... All bangers!
Tush is another great one!
Saw them several times going back to the 70’s. Always a fun concert. This song is about a bordello in Texas called the chicken ranch.
We saw them twice in a roller skating rink in Corpus Christi, TX-for $1.50. Word-of-mouth publicity was all they had. I was 14. There was no alcohol, but their opening act was called “Sweetsmoke”😊
La Grange is guitarist's Billy Gibbons homage to blues legend, John Lee Hooker.
He did give a nod to John Lee, but this song is about a Brothel in Central Texas, locally known as The Chicken Ranch.
@@bluesrock1the riff is purely John Lee Hooker
@@allanbluzdudeAbsolutely, and don't forget about the How, How, How!
This is probably my all time favorite ZZ Top song.
The music video, of a live performance, is great,
this song was used in the tv show called BONES where the lead guitarist plays Angela Montenegro's dad
he wears that hat in the pic in one of the episodes, im pretty sure
I think you mean Pookie Noodelen’s dad 😂😂
El Diablo was the song used for him on Bones as well.
First and foremost, ZZ Top is a blues band. I highly recommend checking out “Brown Sugar” from the album ‘One Foot in the Blues’
Billy Gibbons (guitarist/vocalist), Dusty Hill (bassist, keyboards, vocalist & Frank Beard ~ all Texas boys. They played rock, southern rock, blues rock, hard rock, They were huge in my day in CA. (70's). You need to see them live. ZZ Top - Legs (Live In Texas), Tush & Sharp Dressed man. They even did a concert at Wembley Stadium before Dusty passed away in 2021. RIP Dusty.
Edit ~ just noticed I missed Frank on drums. .
One of my most favorite all time bands, ever! Saw them several times BC- Before Children. RIP Dusty. Classic!
God bless Texas
I became familiar with them through their Eliminator album in 1983, when I was 14. I played the hell out of that cassette, which led me to their other albums, too.
It’s La-Grange. The a in the Grange is a strong A ! This is Texas Blues & Rock at its best. They are singing about a House of Ill reput in Central Texas. It was named the “Chicken Ranch”. Back when it started. I think in the early , early 1900’s. It got its name because in the depression men would bring chickens and other farm animals to trade for favors.
When I lived in West Palm Beach, Florida my favorite bartender and I had a ritual. As soon as I walked in, I would go to the jukebox and play “Legs” by ZZ Top because she had really great legs. She, in turn, would play ZZ Top’s “Sharp Dressed Man” for me.
Yes! You should definitely do reactions to Sons of Anarchy!!!
Car commercial + La Grange in the background = Sale
ZZ Top had many great riffs. Billy G was a master of riffs. Saw them many many times in the 70's and never saw a bad performance ever. Not even a weak song in the set. They are made to be live. You knew you heard something great after a ZZ Top concert. They always (in my memory) went right into Tush, another great riff), after this song. Check it out. Love your reactions Kabir.
Love me some ZZ Top. The blues rock songs they produce are unique and sound so good! I have the Eliminator and Afterburner albums from them, both on vinyl and CD.
In addition to those listed above, you may enjoy the following:
I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide, Jesus Just Left Chicago, Groovy Little Hippy Pad, Tube Snake Boogie, and Tush. I actually like most of their songs. They have a huge catalog to choose from.
They are still active, too, with over 50 years to their credit. Bassist Dusty Hill passed away not long ago, but he requested their guitar tech Ellwood to take his place and that the band keep going.
This song is off the album "Tres Hombres" which is an awesome album.
Hard to believe this song is 51 years old! It still sounds fantastic!
"Cheap Sunglasses", "Gimme All Your Lovin'", "Got Me Under Pressure", "Legs", "Sharp Dressed Man", "Tube Snake Boogie", "Tush"
2:25 The riff is a standard 1-4-5 People like Chuck Berry, etc. use a version of this in half their songs.
Check out “sure got cold after the rain fell”, which is probably my favorite ZZ Top song. It’s a more blusey, laid back song than most of their stuff. ☮️
When I hear this I always think of their song LEGS. I'll bet that's what you're thinking of, which you probably won't realize, until you look it up.
Seeing them live, It's amazing 3 people do this.
Saw these guys in concert back in the 70's. This brings back memories!
A little factoid, in the show Deadwood the band that plays in season 2 is actually ZZ Top because they where fans of the show.
Interesting factoid: before ZZTop started, Billy Gibbons (lead guitar and lead vocals) used to open for Jimi Hendrix!
I’ve seen ZZ for 50 years, from their pre-beard days to just before Dusty Hill (bass and vocals) passed away. RIP
This is DEFINITELY a rabbit hole you want to check out.
I recommend, from the Tres Hombres album (their 3rd): Waitin for the bus/Jesus just left Chicago.
One of the best. EVER!!! 😎👍👍
Love ZZ Top, I saw them in the 2000's and it's still a highlight I often think about. For their more down and dirty blues style, check out " Jesus just left Chicago".
La Grange gets my vote for the coolest song ever recorded
The Best Little Band from Texas. Sadly we lost bassist Dusty Hill last year. Saw them last in 2011 in Austin Texas
I passed through La Grange TX every year to visit my family for Christmas. As soon as I saw the city limit sign, I couldn't resist letting out a "how how how how". Been a big fan for years. You should definitely check out their live performances at Eric Claptons Crossroads Guitar Festival. Some of the best live music performances recorded IMO.
Brings me back to many great memories.
Love ZZ Top!! My 70’s reality
I was lucky to have been able to see them three times in Dallas twice at Reunion Arena (RIP) and once in San Antonio.
Their live shows were a lot of fun.
I saw these guys In 74? As a backup band for Jerry Garcia. Excellent band.
Do not fear, my brother, Kabir, once you feast your ears on this melodious musical masterpiece, you will leap into the loop largely!
Song also pays homage to the last legal whore house in Texas which is also highlighted in the Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton movie the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
The three beards, two on chins one on drums!
Best damn three man band in Texas. Dare anyone to argue.
So in the UK would they be called Zed Zed Top?😂😂
now i cant unthink that LOL
Only if they were a UK band 😝
We call the ZX Spectrum "zed-eks" because it's British.
Not head bobbing to this sing is impossible.
"La Grange"is a brothel.. FYI
A Hoewer-House!
@@jamesalexander5623🤣
La Grange is the town. The Chicken Ranch is the name of the brothel. But I guess the whole town can be considered a brothel since everything and everyone there sucks!😂
This would be considered blues-rock and they're known as "the biggest little band from Texas". All fantastic musicians. RIP Dusty Hill
The videos from their Eliminator album are all fun and the songs are cool. If you go back into their earlier stuff (like La Grange) you really get the bluesy background
ZZ Top song titles include Velcro Fly, Sleeping Bag, TV Dinners, and Legs.
Without sounding nasty I believe you'd really enjoy that last song.
This song was in the movie Armageddon
You need to check out Cheap Sunglasses by ZZ Top!!!
No, rhymes with range La Grange. Some other groups to listen to Foghat Baughman Turner Overdrive also known as BTO. And a song and video I wish you would watch and listen to is the official video for the group (Little Bigtown and the song is, On the Pontoon.)
If you want to hear the real origins of ZZ Top, take a listen to Waitin' for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago. A great mix of rock and blues.
Back to the Future 3....😂
WOOOHOOOOO!!! LOVES me some ZZ TOP!!! Prefer their older stuff (like this)...but, their 80s and 90s stuff is good, too - just a different sound....They are a three-man group: ODDLY - the only guy in the band that didn't have a beard was the drummer - whose last name was BEARD!! :D :D :D :D THEY are a GREAT JAM!!! :) ENJOY!!
Just a few good 'ole boys from Texas
I've seen a lot of great songs listed I like their blues side better, so I'll give you "Waiting on the Bus/Jesus just left Chicago" and " Blue Jean Blues", then " Cheep Sunglasses" there are so many. Saw them once in person and they had just started playing as ZZ Top. It was a new store opening where I live, and they were on the 1st floor in the children's shoe dept. they were great. I would never get any closer once they got big so I'm happy. Love my hometown boys. Enjoy
Oh man!! You should have watched the video! Cool to see them in action! ❤
ZZ (Zig-Zag rolling papers) Top (Top rolling papers)
I first seen them when they had just started, before the beards lol, in Tyler Tx early 70's. I have been a fan ever since.
You need to check out their cars.
You should review songs 'Legs' and 'Sharp Dressed Man'. Both are very popular and you have probably heard them in TV shows and movies. Sadly the bass player Dusty Hill passed away suddenly in 2021.
Went to high school with these guys! They used to play at our high school dances on Friday nights! They came a long way from Houston, TX! Singing about a little whore house down in LaGrange, TX!
Billie Gibbons was in the tv series Bones
Check out their song Sharp Dressed Man”
It’s been used in many movies
Yeah Buddy! ZZ is one of the best Texas Blues Boogie Woogie bands ever known! If you would like to hear some other Boogie bannds, I would suggest Stevie Ray Vaughn's The House Is A Rockin', or perhaps an English band, Foghat's I just Want To Make Love To You. I love you entering into the music realm of reactions, just ads a bit more diversity to the channel! Rock on!!
The dukes of hazard movie.❤
Should do Sabaton 1916 after doing the original from motorhead
ZZ Top is rolling paper brand.
Grange is pronounced with a long a sound 😊
Jimi Hendrix said Billy Gibbons is the G.O.A.T...enough said.
Tube Steak Boogie
Just Texas blues rock
If you like this check out Cheap Sunglasses and Tush
Is this a repost? I seem to remember you doing this one a while back.
La Grange like range.
Southern Rock.
It's La Grange with a long a.
A EYE
Great band. Until bass player Dusty Hill died in 2021, they about the longest run of any band with no lineup changes since 1970, over half a century with the same three guys. After Dusty Hill died, the band's guitar tech Elwood Francis stepped into his shoes. Fortunately, he already has a long beard so he fit right in. Ironically, the only member who is clean shave is drummer Frank Beard.
A FEW tv shows and movies? Nah son, A LOT. A shitload.
La grange, if you don't know how it's pronounced it's because you're British and you don't know the difference between an A sound and a O sound.
You may need a copy of the lyrics. They are hard to understand.
Fun fact: Frank Beard is the one without a beard.
