Brilliant video. I literally clapped at the 'west to east not north to south' bit - because it helped complete the model in my head a bit more. Since I changed my mechanics about 4weeks ago to match Coach Y's tips, it feels *a lot* more natural, it's much 'easier' to deliver more power continuously, I'm more balanced so I can continue longer combinations - and it's more natural to flow with pivots and slips((see his pivots video). Really glad I found this channel, feel much better about where I'm going and the speed I'm learning (started 9months ago in group classes ,you're just not taught to leverage your fundamental mechanics, or corrected).
Exactly....and what seems like a minor component is acruallyba game changer once you realize it's effectiveness. People wonder why Floyd is as good as he is....well, pay attention to his body mechanics in his fight videos....now that's mind blowing-- and one if the reasons he"s levels above guys, same with Mike Tyson but in a different way.
Awesome explanation. When I started boxing I was always told to turn my waist in hooks and body shots. And always am told to "turn more" but I never understood until much later. The pull is the most underrated part of the push.
Amazing explanation! This is the same mechanics used in Muay Thai to throw both punch and elbows with the lead arm. The difference in power, speed and protection is outstanding. Thanks for share your wisdom. Keep going!

You sir, are an amazing coach, watching your videos i sometimes get the impression that your understanding is so much deeper than you can even articulate it. Thank you, I learn something from every video of yours and get a fresh perspective even on the basics.
Coach, your videos are precious! Each one seems to be better than the previous one. You point out minor details that make a HUGE difference in the end. Thank you so very much for sharing all this knowledge, God bless you and your family! 🙏👍👏😀👊🙂🥊 Best regards and respect from Brazil.

I believe the secret to punching power is having excellent technique, this one works with other punches too when i throw a 1-2 i focus on bringing my left shoulder back quick.
Coach, at the beginning of the video you said about other instructional videos, do you mean that you have some sort of instructional DVD? Or you said it about other videos on this channel? Anyway thanks for your video!
Hey coach can you show the proper foot work in the left hook? I want to know how to launch on a devastating left hook like how wladimir klitschko ko vs pulev & also do i square up a lil more to get more rotation?
@@r.a.8407 he showed it in another video basically, you wanna twist your lead leg and point the toes of the foot to whenever your punch is pointing at in every punch not just the hook
Good video 👍,I’m a southpaw but I do enjoy swapping sometimes as love left hooks,Lamon Brewster think does great video on getting power on left hook really loads up from the legs, any tips coach on the leaping left hook roy Jones jnr famous for ????,I’m guessing great at landing it as hands was low and was pretending wasn’t looking at opponents ?,top 5 left hook boxers !!!,Mike Tyson David tua bob foster tommy Morrison Henry cooper for me,
3:00 “West to east, not north to south.” Sounds good yet I was taught to use weight transfer therefore you would take the weight from the front leg to transfer it to the back leg. I suppose if you are using west to east then you would be utilizing more hip and body rotation more so than weight transfer from one leg to another leg then. At times I do use that for a quicker left hook rather than always transferring the weight. Not every punch has to be a knockout punch anyway.
My instructionals break down the details to every punch. Weight distribution, hand placement, head position, footwork, drills for better balance and weight distribution etc etc etc.! Over 6 hours of info.
I've often missed a left hook after throwing the long straight right hand since the hook is a lot shorter punch how do I make the hook land from that twisting position after that cross
I’m a southpaw so don’t use it as often, but when I switch for me personally I find of a right straight better to left hook to the body try liver shot,as great because right hand doesn’t even need to land just a distraction to go to body, but think better to start with a jab always first as cross hard to land unless fighting a bum,
@World Class Boxing Channel Here is what I don't understand. The right hand (#2) is long distance, the left hook (#3) you are showing is a short distance punch. How do they correlate together? If I were to punch a heavy bag, I would have to punch a half of right hand distance to be on the same distance as the hook. If I step in, the weight will be on rear leg and that will be slower. Can you please please clarify that? How would you throw a long distance left hook( 2nd question. )
The right hand is ripped back simultaneous to the left hook release, not ahead of it. If opponent is not close, you would need to throw a longer hook as well? Correct?

Coach you are absolutely awesome.
I also do teach my boxers do the same thing. I always stress about the hip/ waist movement.
Many thanks,
Ashraf
Good video. I also like to have the boxer bring that right heel back down off the straight right left hook.
Its amazing how i have been training boxing and martial arts for about 5 years and yet none of my coaches have told me about this...
Wow 🤩 that was awesome 👏 coach
Coach, at the beginning of the video you said about other instructional videos, do you mean that you have some sort of instructional DVD? Or you said it about other videos on this channel? Anyway thanks for your video!

Hmm interesting, I think this a good tip, will definitely try this.
When i throw Hook, can i pivot my lead foot?
That's good but what about adding the drop step that Jack Dempsey did to get more leverage? Its always generated good power for me
Oh man what was I thinking not paying more attention to this guy my mistake I'm going to get back on watching him again
elbows should be close to body and perpendicular to the ground. palm of the hand faces the floor. the pivot of the foot give it power
Please do a video on shovel hook to the body
On which leg is your weight?Thank you very much

I’ve never heard of the lead hook being taught this way. It’s a difficult punch to teach. I’m going to give this a try.
We get it you teach boxing ;)
Hello hojam, we put 4 comb bones and 2 comb bones in our hooks or we can hit the chin more effectively.
Feel like Im in the matrix - this is amazing!

Sir pls show your foot movement as well,
But if the right hand is that far ahead how will it be possible to land such a tight hook/close hook if the opponent is not closing in

Minimize space restrict opponent having room options
