Tom has now set a standard for boxing trainers globally.. If you want to show something as a trainer, take some damn notes. The days of " Just do this and that because I'm the man and you should listen" are ending. You have raised the bar Tom. Thank you.
well said thats how the gyms i came from ,, no explaination, just listen and do what i say? i ended up learinging from old / new fights/ fiighters, cause i didn't trust..
Bernard Hopkins said in a video "we need less trainers and more teachers" and He is so right; boxing tends to have an unstructured and disperse set of knowledge and tricks ; people able to gather all that knowledge together in a logical, ordered form and explain it is so uncommon. The service you do to the sport by publishing all of this for free is HUGE. Thank you so much. Liked and subscribed !
I’m 50. Lost weight over the last 2 years. I just started learning to box to stay in shape. Love the contact and the dance that develops. My coach uses this site all the time. This makes boxing understandable. Love the drills. Thank you for taking the time post your expertise. Just an amazing channel.
Danny really growing tom ..what does he walk around at present day.i highly anticipate a fight camp with you guys with his dicipline i know he displays the best work of my preference of the most underrated coach in my eyes.. its gonna be random but i look forward to the day not far from now- bam bam
this drill is on the list of the drills for my practice in the gym, after watching this video. simple, fundamental, but explained great and in details. keep up the good work, coach tom
“Use your imagination (previous video)” “Be creative” Curating a challenging environment that encourages creativity and confidence is example of coaching and teaching at the highest level. Much respect Coach Tommy.
I'm aware there's lots of different boxing coaching styles, I respect all of them as they work on their own ways. My question is, with the shoulder roll, do you take your eyes off your opponent momentarily when your right shoulder is in line with your back leg? Also when you weave under hooks do you momentarily take your eyes off your opponent? Looking at the floor whilst mid manoeuvre? Liam
0:35 3 different ways / 4 different things 0:50 slip same like roll (roll with punch on both sides / shoulders stays not change on slip ) (roll rt hand or hook on rt side) slip jab /roll rt hand / slip rt hand /roll hook 1:30 one eye shot 1:40 roll roll / slip slip 2:25 shoulder trajactory to start 2:35 dip / not like slip 3:55 I can continue weave or slip again .... 5:20 slip vs dip (shoulder trajctory stays / at the slip / dip I go deeper like going to body ) slip just like roll on both sides (with shoulder trajactory stays not change ) 6:00 all about position 6:15 position is key 7:05 dip going to body 7:20 slip not dip 7:40 not run into jab / all depend on distance 8:10-8:50 .... if I have more distance I can fake slip to lft to him throw jab to me slip to rt catch him with uppercut /or rt hand 9:30 uppercut is better becz I make him go down 10:40 dip vs slip and uppercut /like shoulder roll 11:35 drill again 11:55 again if I am close I throw uppercut and he weave it If I have distance I throw jab and he slip it back like roll 12:30 as I learn to move head I can use baits /traps now too 12:45 bait lft and rt 13:40 Bonus shoulder rol 14:25 let fighter fell it him self and create his own imagination 15:20 long roll/ dip 16:00.roll dip weave
I got too say your my fav boxing channel always watching your vids could you do a video on drills for the double end bag im good with but i want too be better with your help hope all is well
That's great!!! This video is similar to the first video about shadowboxing where you taught the pattern to learn, then incorporated the punches. Great drill to learn to dodge the opponent's shots and charge the counterattack. Awesome video!!! Thank you Master👊👍
We been working on similar mechanics coach ..this is very informative...adding a punch or 2 in that head movement and modulating the movement for traps is next level. thankyou for sharing this.
Hi Tom, I'm frustrated by the fact we can't see Danny's feet when he demos!! Especially the motion of the rear foot when he slips/rolls/dips to his left (avoiding the opponent's right). Does it stay planted? Does it systematically rotate as if throwing the right hand, or does it depend?.... Love everything you do! Thanks so much!!
I was watching James Toney Vs Samuel Peter the other day and James was actually using the kind of head movement we see in this video a lot of dipping and weaving while shifting the weight on his feet to move around. Masterful from James Toney

0:35 3 different ways / 4 different things
0:50 slip same like roll (roll with punch on both sides / shoulders stays not change on slip )
(roll rt hand or hook on rt side) slip jab /roll rt hand / slip rt hand /roll hook
1:30 one eye shot
1:40 roll roll / slip slip
2:25 shoulder trajactory to start
2:35 dip / not like slip
3:55 I can continue weave or slip again ....
5:20 slip vs dip (shoulder trajctory stays / at the slip / dip I go deeper like going to body ) slip just like roll on both sides (with shoulder trajactory stays not change )
6:00 all about position
6:15 position is key
7:05 dip going to body
7:20 slip not dip
7:40 not run into jab / all depend on distance
8:10-8:50 .... if I have more distance I can fake slip to lft to him throw jab to me slip to rt catch him with uppercut /or rt hand
9:30 uppercut is better becz I make him go down
10:40 dip vs slip and uppercut /like shoulder roll
11:35 drill again
11:55 again if I am close I throw uppercut and he weave it
If I have distance I throw jab and he slip it back like roll
12:30 as I learn to move head I can use baits /traps now too
12:45 bait lft and rt
13:40 Bonus shoulder rol
14:25 let fighter fell it him self and create his own imagination
15:20 long roll/ dip
16:00.roll dip weave
Brilliant
Sweet science of Tom. This is so technical.
