I had fun with this drill last night. I have 13 amateurs all with less than 3 years of training. Some have less than 6 months. It took them a while to make the adjustment because after slipping the right hand, I had taught them to throw the check hook while pivoting out. When they pivoted in, they’ve been taught to throw the right hand. So when they slip the right they want to throw the 3-2-3 and when slipping the jab they wanted to pivot in and throw the 2-3-2. I had to get them to add the waist turns to get them to do it correctly. I like your method better because they have to set their feet properly adding more stability to their base thereby adding power to the shots. Thanks for posting.
Wow! Thank you Coach T! Thanks for pointing out that difference in slip between the slip and dip and just the basic slip with pivot. I've been telling my senior back in my kickboxing days about that hitch when slip-dipping and then pivoting, but he would just dismiss it. I ended up, unknowingly then, using slip-drop-stepping and pivot because the slip-dip and pivot had a weird twist on my lead knee. It's a great feeling to know that I wasn't mistaken and this video confirms and answers my questions.
What weight does Danny fight at? He looks huge in the upper body and arms... btw Danny is a great little fighter and destined for great things... Would be nice to have a little bio on the young protege.
Hello, I have been following your videos for 6 months now. I am such a huge fan of your videos. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. They are easy to understand and it's broken down to the finest details 😁 Anyways. Would it be possible to make a a video about the pros and cons between blocking a hook, rolling under a hook and shoulder rolling the hook?
Thanks for all the support Javier!👊🏼 I really appreciate it! Please consider sharing the videos. Also for other boxing related information and tips follow me on Instagram @tomyankelloboxing On your question I have so many requests but I like your question so it’s possible. Thank you for asking.
Coach, if you slip to the right, thus the left food stay in the same position or do I have to turn it, like I am doing a hook. Great Video again!!!! Greetings from Croatia!
When you slip the jab is it okay to take a small step inside (to the right) with your left foot before pivoting to maintain balance? I've seen it taught that way...
Hey coach can you please tell My opponent is coming forward with pressure with cross and jabs and I know he is coming but cannot counter because I don't want to go back at this scenerio what I should do
Will let coach Tom answer but if he can't see your text for any reason then message me again and I will tell you as I deal with this all the time, but to clarify, are the jabs and crosses coming only to the head as your opponent advances on you?
@@barryb4407 yes jab and cross coming on head only but sometimes they go for a liver shot also I have seen people easily handing this scenerio(like what Conor did to Jose Aldo)but I am unable to understand and learn how to deal with that situation
@@dreamchaser9700 Sorry for my late reply, I had a busy few days, ok there are a number of ways you can stop this and counter easily, I will cover one direct way this time so you can try it out and master it, but if you need more later then just ask me again. Firstly well done for seeing what they are doing, so do this, as they are coming forward with head punches, you time them, take one or two quick steps back to keep them coming forward, then change level to hit their body fast, throw a long and hard cross as you change level then jab, cross to the floating ribs and solar plexus, after that, move to your next attack on them asap and put some pressure back on them. what you will have achieved if you do it right is a counter that has almost doubled in power with the first shot as they moved in to your punch as you threw it against them, and from the long cross it made it impossible for their arm to reach your liver.

Your guys works is always phenomenal. Thank you for another great video., Wanna ask if you can cover how to best balance in stance for aggressive swarmer fighters that prefer to utilize alot of weaves, pivots, slips and rolls along with stance switches.
No no no Tom🧏♂️🙈 this is the only part where I think.. NO!! I can not agree with that!! Why?? Cuz there's a better way bruh.. With this pivot there's a moment where your balance is totally off. Cuz you're standing on one leg for a second🤷♂️ I'm gonna sent you the perfect pivot now 👌
🙈oww shit I'VE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN. I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE LOMACHENKO PIVOT. AND OF COURSE YOU HAVE YOUR OWN VIDEO ABOUT THAT PIVOT. SORRY BRUH MY BAD 👎
Coach Yankello. Based on principles in an orthodox stance if you slip and pivot to the left, is your first punch, ideally, going to be with your right arm? On the contrary if you slip and pivot to the right is your first punch going to be with your left arm?
Sorry I forgot to say that I really appreciate the effort put in making this videos. The quality and detail of the content in every and each of them is second to none.
