I just bought a Trek Farley 5 yesterday, not having ridding a bike since the 1970's The technological change is as astounding as the price. This bike is so much more capable than the single speed steel departments store bike I grew up with, and I'm glad to be able to ride at my age as much as I did when I was young because of this new bike's capabilities, and do more off road riding as well.
Nice! I got the 5 for the wife and I have the 9.6 2022 I’ve personalised it too: Sram XX1 AXS group all black Carbon 27.5 Wampa’s Tubeless Bontrager Barbegazi Thomson carbon 35mm riser bars Thomson stem 40mm/cap & spacers Thomson carbon seat post Thomson seat clamp Prime Primavera Carbon Saddle Sram Level ULT brakes Sram Hs2 Rotors 200mm front 180mm rear Nukeproof Horizon pro pedals
The geo of the farley is right where I wanted to be and the price was right. The pivot is a sick bike but it's ridiculously expensive. I took a complete farley 5 build and basically rebuilt it to what I wanted it to be. After riding a carbon fatbike for 5 years I just really didn't see the point of all the extra money when the drive train, brakes, and wheels/tires matter the most on a fatbike
@@Projectnortheast I have seen size M today in the store! And I did not realize that rear tyre is 27.5x3.8" while front is 27.5"x4.5"!!! Even the shop assistant looked confused! 🤣
@@milo2324 yep the smaller sizes get the smaller rear tire due to clearance... I think a 4.5 may work if you keep the chainstay adjustment all the way out but not positive
Thanks! Although there's a 108 hub drive and the body is designed for 6 pawls, some say you only need to place 3 of them into the body. I've just purchased the 2024 Farley 5, and I'm going to swap the drivetrain to an X01. And sure, I'll place all 6 pawls.
@Svenne_Kloppe yeah it's 54t with the 3 Pawls which isn't bad engagement. Alot of the rapid drive hubs were just coming standard with the 108 during covid. Not sure if that's changed

Not surprised!
They cost nearly £2,000!!!!!
Sweet build! I’m curious why you went with the Trek Farley frame? I’m looking at this and Pivot LES Fat for my next fatbike.

Only thing with the trek farleys that puts me off is the press fit bb.
@@randomguy9893 yeah boggles my mind why they did that with an aluminum frame even...
Will build bikes for broken friends
was gonna go with sort stem no my Farley 5 but decided to try stock length and its not bad. I just wonder how much more playful would it make it.
Short stem wide bars for me... I ride alot of steep trails so the longer stem is too twitchy
Excellent build. What stem and bars are those?
*
Raceface atlas bars and turbine stem
Which fork and drivetrain did you use?
I used xx1 eagle cassette and xo1 shifter and Der. And I used a mastadon comp fork

How much was the total cost?
And how much did you pay for the frame?
I bought a Farley 5 complete, added fork, new cockpit, and drivetrain...
Could u name the products and the cost?
👍👍👍
Are you using 3 or 6 pawls in this XD rapid drive body?
This is the 6 which makes it the 108 rapid drive
