  • One week until we head to Utah for our last Total Archery Challenge of 2024! In this video, I go over my process for checking the tune on a couple of key areas for my bow to make sure it is dialed in for the long bombs in Utah!
I will walk through my process for paper tuning, walk back tuning, finding the right sight tape, and confirmed a few shots from long range.
    Hope you enjoy!

And a perfect way to check your broadhead flight. Same game.

    Good presentation, good information.
I don’t know if that is your hunting rig but I can hear your arrow shaft making noise every time you draw.
Best of luck on your shoot

I’m pretty new to the “precise” archery meaning I don’t know a lot about tuning compound bows… my local pro shop said that a paper tuning is a waste of time and they can get close enough without the paper tune what is your take on this… do I need to find a new pro shop? Also I should mention I just spent almost 4k in there on a completely new bow build

Congrats on the new bow build! What did you go with? The "close enough" comment from them is telling :). For me I make enough mistakes as it is, just being human, so I am going to ensure my equipment is 100%! I have heard opinions on both paper tune vs no paper tune. IMO, paper tuning is an incredibly efficient way to get quick, real-world feedback on your arrow flight. There are so many factors that will impact down range accuracy, and I last thing I want to worry about if my arrow is starting off true or not. A paper tune is a no-nonsense way to confirm that very quickly. While it is possible to shoot accurately without confirming through paper, it becomes very hard to stay consistent without that true arrow flight from the beginning (especially with broadheads, and at long range.) All in all, my thinking is why not paper tune? It gives you a great starting point to make sure your bow tune and your arrow setup are ready to rock!
