fuck yesss! Mr Slin you say there's no downside to using auto-heal, except in the past you've said you click and hold like many ugc players like shade? I use auto-heal though have you changed recently?
I actually made a video about this topic that discusses it in-depth (link below). TL;DW: 8 of 9 Invite medics that I polled at the time were using Valve Auto-Heal. Only Shade was using click and hold. My recommendation is to use Valve Auto-Heal as it appears to be on par with click and hold and is a quality of life enhancement. ua-cam.com/video/TzCkwthqTLg/v-deo.html
I love the Amputator. My main job besides healing people is staying alive and I don't think the risk of engaging enemies with melee is often worth it. You can pull the Amputator out while fleeing/on fire for the extra health regen and whip it out and taunt in a safe location to heal a bunch of people at once. A great utility if used wisely.
Yeah that's a great point. The Amputator can be good in many scenarios, but you often don't push people with the Ubersaw. They push you, and then the only way you can get out of that situation is to swipe them with the Ubersaw once or twice to get 25-50% Uber and then pop it so that you can run away. The Amputator wouldn't help in those scenarios, which is why the Ubersaw is preferred by most Medics.
MR SLIN - I get what you're saying but that's still a big risk. My preference is still to bail and escape. Are there situations where you have no choice but to fight or die, and no amount of foresight and situational awareness would have gotten you out of it? Sure. But more often than not in my experience (also an old veteran like yourself, though not of organized play), it's usually possible to just get the hell out of there. I never thought anyone could take my uber saw from me until I discovered the awesome utility of the Amputator. Both have their merits but I prefer the latter.
Can you make a movement tips and tricks video? I find myself having right heal priority and nice crossbow aim but whenever I get jumped I die. Any tips?
I personally like to run medic without the auto heal, it just feels more comfortable for me, also I like to use the quick fix when my team struggles to avoid damage and I'm the only medic
I've heard that the autoheal option is kind of broken, or is it fixed? Cause I probably need it since constantly holding down m1 is tiring sometimes Edit: another question, are all mediguns perfectly viable? Cause I recently got the quick fix and I love switching between targets quickly and having a quick ubercharge build rate
Tooth Brush Valve autoheal works perfectly fine. There is some debate about using some custom autoheal scripts, but Slin actually already made a video about that so you can check that out if you want. Maybe one of those scripts broke, but I’ve been using Valve’s version for as long as I can remember and it’s never broke on me. As for the second question, I won’t speak for Slin but mediguns other than the stock are situational. For example, in 6s QF and Vacc are banned because their downsides are invalidated by the small player count and rather homogeneous damage. Alternatively, running a vacc in highlander will probably get your shit kicked in. QF isn’t quite so polarizing, but giving up stock’s invulnerability is a big price to pay when attempting to use an uber to push in a setting like a pub. QF is better with smaller, more coordinated teams that rotate properly and will actually help you out with team up blast jumps to get you out of danger. Kritz, on the other hand, is often a defensive option used to surprise the other team. It builds faster than stock so if you exploit that and get a charge before they have uber than you can pop and *hopefully* kill their med. If you don’t though, you’re stuck without and uber and they’re about to come down hard on you with a charge, so it’s a high risk high reward medigun. Side note, kritz don’t affect buildings, so normally you shouldn’t try to bust a sentry with one. Regardless of the other options, stock is just a godlike medigun and will serve you will in all situations.
It’s better to use the medi gun more, and only have the crossbow out about 5-10% of the time. The medi gun’s heal rate is much more consistent than the crossbow, and you’ll be able to build Uber much more consistently. Getting Amadis Ubers is arguably the most important thing to do as Medic, so always make sure you’re building as fast as possible
I use my crossbow very often to top off any teammates that are out of the way, or if being in medigun range of a target would put me in danger. BUT, I only do that if I'm at max über, 'cause you're losing potential über charge every time you use the crossbow.
Yeah totally. Quick Fix in general is really bad for pushing through chokes if they have the right team composition (Demos, Engineers, or Heavies). Quick Fix also struggles in servers with higher player populations because you get a smaller buff, and it's easier to focus-fire you down even after you've popped QF (think faster healing vs. invincibility, invincibility is better). Quick Fix is best used in servers with lower populations (i.e. 6 people or less) as there's less people to heal , and you benefit more from the faster movement speed from rocket jumps / sticky jumps.
Quick Fix does super well complimenting the regular medi gun of a medic teammate. It can maintain their higher health buff and greatly assist keeping everyone alive. Usually best as a secondary medi gun.
also, yes its hard to use vaccinator but like in competitive I guess there are some pro medics who know how to use it right? I mean, a vaccinater uber has like 66% damage negation instead of 100% of stock, and fully ignores crits. it's like 4 mini ubers, that are 66% as powerful. I used it in valve comp a few times (until I felt disgusted by myself) and I've decided to rename my vaccinatr to the comp-stomp. Especially because pyro is not in the meta, you only need to focus on 2 types of damage.
Well it's ez for you to say that, I'm searching for good\fair casual\comp matches 24\7 (I have 1000+ hours on tf2 and 100+ hours on medic). And what do I get? A fucking f2p team that are clueless. I rarely find good matches with good teammates. HOW THE FUCK CAN I FIND THESE MATCHES THAT I SEE YOU PLAY IN YOUR VIDEOS!? and it's so frustrating that because of it I cashed out of tf2.

I was going to reply but olexi said literally everything I was thinking.
Hello Mr.Steven Lin do you have a recommended gamer diet to improve my tf2 gameplay?
OMG OMG OMG MR SLIN IS BACKKKKKKKKKKK BOIZZZZZZ AND GIRLZZZZZZ
Don’t worry I learned you from a pub. This helps a lot^_^!
Hum.... I use my crossbow really often (to heal faster). It works, so is it a problem ?

Mr slin when should i use the quick fix? Its my favourite medi gun but sometimes it doesnt work the way i want. Can you help me?
What do you mean when you say it doesn't work the way you want?
MR SLIN i use uber and die a lot or i cant push through a choke. Smth like that.
