Tetrodotoxin is what Shitstain was too lazy to look up. It was used in the movie Law Abiding Citizen. Gerard Butler’s character used it to paralyze one of the men who he was going to kill. He explained that it causes paralysis, but leaves you conscious and doesn’t block pain.

It is extremely strange to think about how when wrestling was hot in the 80s and 90s the status quo was constantly changing. The Hogan era started in 1984 and by 1990 most of the territories were gone. WCW as the national promotion owned by Turner was around for about a dozen years. ECW was around for less than 10. But when wrestling has been cold we've had a steady status quo for years. From 2002 until AEW appeared in 2019 the North American wrestling landscape was WWE, TNA and ROH despite TNA being essentially a money pit from day one. How on Earth did companies that were hot during the Monday Night Wars die out so soon while TNA/Impact has lasted almost 20 years?

The Stevie Richards paralyzing poison story actually goes back to Hitchcock. He wrote a story about a guy presumed dead about to have an autopsy performed on him expect he was still alive but couldn't move or talk and the poison slowed his organs down to where they thought he was dead. Steven King later rewrote that story as well.

Around the time of the Shark Boy Steve Austin thing I was able to tune into TNA here and there. Growing up we didn’t have cable tv so it was pretty hard to follow wrestling consistently. I never was able to watch Raw and Smackdown was tough at times. UPN showed smackdown in my market through its affiliation with one of our local channels which for awhile was on Saturday nights which led to me becoming a fan but later on switched the show to airing on Mondays around midnight (better classified as Sunday night really). Being young I obviously wasn’t allowed to stay up to watch it so the switch kinda cost me the ability to watch consistently until they launched the CW. That was cool for awhile but smackdown started losing my interest and I stopped watching pretty much entirely for a bit.
But around this time in 2008 and 2009 I believe I would stay at someone’s home out of town every weekend with my parents and this family had cable which was awesome as a kid who never had it before. At this point in time Spike would have reruns of the show later on Saturday nights. When I randomly ran across the show, having never heard of it before, I was interested to try it out mostly because it was wrestling but also because I saw they had some names that I knew from WWE. But even so I didn’t really tune in consistently to truly follow the direction of the show.
I remember one night randomly tuning in and seeing Shark Boy. And since I didn’t watch consistently I didn’t know any of the backstory to explain why he was the way he was so it definitely caught me off guard to see some random dude in a shark mask copying stone cold mannerisms like he was. I remember that it was amusing at first, mostly just kinda silly to laugh at because it was just so out there to see, but definitely became a silly parody that I didn’t really care about seeing. And I’d usually get tired of it because for the limited chances I’d get to tune in I was pretty impatient to be able to see the guys I knew on the show and felt like the parody guy was wasting the time I had to see what I wanted. Wish I could’ve tuned in consistently so I could’ve appreciated some of their home grown guys more during the time instead of only wanting the former names to show up.
