The holding of the trussroad and its efficiency is way way better when when the adjustment is in the body. It makes the neck straight as an arrow and it doesn't move over the years...
I play ernie ball music man exclusively by choice. After buying my silhouette I was hooked. The necks are like nothin else. Admittedly musicman do say you either love them or hate them. For me it's love though. Own a jp12 aswell now
best bet is get a teacher. even with the best videos its easy to just click off them when you get bored or something is slightly hard. a teacher sitting there with you can give you on the fly advice, tips and encouragement.
All Music Mans play incredible and anybody discouraged by this price should consider a used Silhouette, Luke, Axis, or Petrucci. Best feeling necks and very comfortable to play, especially for smaller people.
Been patiently waiting for this review. Much better than Blues's. Love it. Armada, Silo Special, Axis = bases covered :) Ok, perhaps throw a ES335 in there ;)
Someone explain to me why the hell any manufacturer, in 2013, insists on putting the truss road adjustment in the body vs up at the headstock? Specially on a neck thru? Wouldn't need a "proprietary wheel" if they'd put the adjuster in the headstock....
You can tell a slight difference. To be fair, I can't find many quality demos on youtube with distortion. It's usually the same blues lick over and over. Even with metal guitars, but I see where you're coming from.
Frets are personal taste, plenty of great guitars have medium and plenty have jumbo. Not for matters of lasting but for playability. I am a player that prefers jumbo :)
I'm guessing preference of whoever set it up likely after they received it, top wrapping isn't a super common practice and the only time I've ever seen it from a factory is things like the billy gibbons pearly gates guitars because thats how he prefers them. I could be totally wrong though.
Definitely watch the video's from Guthrie Govan (by GuitarWorld), a few of his lessons are about how to approach them and use them in more musical way than just play them as fast as you can.
I own a bunch of guitars and find musicmans the easiest to setup thanks to the truss rod adjustment being where it is. No cover removing, no special tools needed, no string removal... Reckon that's why dude ;)
For reals? Why? I hadda set up a Fender for a buddy and it was a serious PAIN having to make an adjustment, bolt the neck back on, re-tune it. Repeat. I have a 1963 Hofner acoustic (with a removable neck!) and it's the same deal. My Carvin DC125 that I've had since 1992, neck thru, has the nut in the head stock and it's still got the same ultra low action and flat board it's had since new. And that's after much gigging including a flight to UK and back, and going thru a few speakers! lol
I've always understood it as a preference, but I hear it makes the strings a little more slinky. I've seen some Les Paul players only go over the bar with the D and high E *shrug*
This guy makes every guitar to sound the same, so what's the point in reviewing instruments if you set them all according to your own taste and not actually showig their oun character?
Someone must have been thinking of pizza when they designed this one. You can see the pizza theme in not only the body but the inlays as well. I think it would look better if the flame maple was on the whole top but that is just my opinion.
just type in into youtube your personal style, in the key of whatever you want, if you know that key. then just mess around with notes until you play something good. that, or just play around the scale and use pedal tones, down picking, bar chords, etc just to fuck around and have some fun :)
The MM 4/2 headstock has technical merits giving the strings the proper angle over the nut that also helps it stay in tune and improves intonation. I used to play Dean's with that huge V shaped headstock and keeping it in tune was a nightmare. It's size made it heavy and negatively affected it's balance. They were also prone to breaking. Ernie Ball came up with this design when they were designing EVH's guitars. EVH guitars have tried to copy the headstock design when he moved over to Peavy and now his own EVH (fender) brand.
I would like to see just one video with having a huge struggle keeping the guitar in tune, pop a string, kick the amp, chuck the guitar and say "Don't buy this piece of shit, it sucks!"
Sure wish I could rattle off .. useless riffs .. I been playing hardcore for so long that the learning riffs and modes and scales has left me .. the even sadder part is that if I even learned one piece of whatever dude was playing in this vid ..the guys in my band would freak and say oh that's a good song .. in conclusion outside of college I know I have to climb the ladder by just learning scales but does anyone have a helpful hand on how to jam and use scales properly ? like good lesson vids?
Paul's a fantastic player but as always his (or vid producer's) tone sucks... Check this one out: "Blues Saraceno & The Ernie Ball Music Man Armada Guitar" Here's where you can actually hear the guitar, not oversaturated tones masking guitar's real capabilities.
I know it's been a long time but (in my mind) this guitar is as iconic as a strat or les paul. To bad it faded the way it did.
Looks like it plays INCREDIBLE
The holding of the trussroad and its efficiency is way way better when when the adjustment is in the body. It makes the neck straight as an arrow and it doesn't move over the years...
Stainless steel frets. Eddies influence for sure. Cool looking guit.
reminds me of a firebird bass meets an iceman sort of
I managed to get one in sea foam green and I'm in love
Great looking.
Love the clean sounds!
Music Man Armada: Nicest Guitar Body-Shape since the Gibson Explorer and Dean ML
I play ernie ball music man exclusively by choice. After buying my silhouette I was hooked. The necks are like nothin else. Admittedly musicman do say you either love them or hate them. For me it's love though. Own a jp12 aswell now
Sounds fantastic
Very very sweet guitar.
I've been waiting for this review. Now if only I can find one in the stores.
The Buick Riviera of Rock! I like!
I have the same string setup on my les paul and it makes it sound a little brighter but dramatically increases the sustain...
I love to see it in black
how would this guitar be for shredding? im dying to try one out and check out the action on this beauty. Get it in black too!
best bet is get a teacher. even with the best videos its easy to just click off them when you get bored or something is slightly hard. a teacher sitting there with you can give you on the fly advice, tips and encouragement.

5:55 for clean tones
been watching this dude's guitar reviews for 5 years, he should review the esp eclipse II.
that is from the factory....the one I played right out of the case had them over the bar when I opened the case
great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks will do
Ernie Ball Music Man guitars usually do. Slim, fast necks. Very versatile tone.
Been patiently waiting for this review. Much better than Blues's. Love it. Armada, Silo Special, Axis = bases covered :) Ok, perhaps throw a ES335 in there ;)
Paul's been practicing! WOOT
Someone explain to me why the hell any manufacturer, in 2013, insists on putting the truss road adjustment in the body vs up at the headstock?

Wouldn't need a "proprietary wheel" if they'd put the adjuster in the headstock....
A truly stunning guitar. One I'll never be able to afford, but brilliant, nonetheless.
You can tell a slight difference. To be fair, I can't find many quality demos on youtube with distortion. It's usually the same blues lick over and over. Even with metal guitars, but I see where you're coming from.
the want is big with this one
don't know the black gamechanger is a strong competitor but again amazing sound
Looks much better in black/gold imo
Frets are personal taste, plenty of great guitars have medium and plenty have jumbo. Not for matters of lasting but for playability. I am a player that prefers jumbo :)

Can any one tell the difference in all these guitars with all this high gain stuff? Solid wood, humbuckers, high gain, bridge pickup.
now that's an exquisite guitar lol
Is it Music Man's factory setup with the strings over the stop bar or is that personal preference?
Definitely watch the video's from Guthrie Govan (by GuitarWorld), a few of his lessons are about how to approach them and use them in more musical way than just play them as fast as you can.
wow.....................
is he too small or the guitar just too big?
Quilted maple top, right?

Hey what's up it's Paul Bedhead from guitar world and I need a shower like you wouldn't believe cause my parents kicked me out of the basement.
I've always understood it as a preference, but I hear it makes the strings a little more slinky. I've seen some Les Paul players only go over the bar with the D and high E *shrug*
enjoy................
Hi paul.
what do you listen to whilst cutting?
what amp/pedals paul uses on his demos?
yes.................................
how's the neck shape? C? D? please tell me :)
This guy makes every guitar to sound the same, so what's the point in reviewing instruments if you set them all according to your own taste and not actually showig their oun character?
The volume control position is way too far ...
Whaaaaat!!!! Volumeeee(going deaf)
They're actually Schaller locking tuners.... EB doesn't make their own tuners.
nice :))))))
Jesus mighty Paul, turn the damned treble down....you do that on all the amp demo’s too
How much is this guitar ?
I feel like the maple part of the body could just slip out and become like a reverse flying V
Someone must have been thinking of pizza when they designed this one. You can see the pizza theme in not only the body but the inlays as well. I think it would look better if the flame maple was on the whole top but that is just my opinion.
doesnt sound like metal guitar but i like it!
The ninja turtles called....... They want their slice of pizza back
guitar world may 03, 2013 ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hi.............................
hello.........................
if you can play guitar and when you have a good amp, you have the same sound with a 400 € guitar, or less.
That is so wrong..
What a load.
just type in into youtube your personal style, in the key of whatever you want, if you know that key. then just mess around with notes until you play something good. that, or just play around the scale and use pedal tones, down picking, bar chords, etc just to fuck around and have some fun :)
yea.. worst part is I cant afford to pay anyone to teach me anything ..but that would be my theory too its hard to click a teacher lol
Huge diff:
5:55
Nice guitar. But 3.500 Euro...
Carlo Titti Well, how much does a new Gibson Les Paul standard cost where you live? I see this guitar as having more "bling" than a Les Paul.
+twinsmm1 - it really is an intrinsically better guitar AFAICT and I have one nice LP.
Quilted maple actually. Sorry, I just had to.
not at these prices
Should be a mess - but it works.
costing the small price of one million dolllarsss.........
Ernie Ball has the weakest looking headstocks. Sounds nitpicky, but seriously. It makes the guitar look impotent and completely harmless.
Right? I was looking into them last year. Opted for an American Tele with buckers. Ernie Ball looks like a small pecker.
Yes why would you buy a guitar if it didn't have a headstock that made it look like a weapon or a dick? Flawless reason
They were also prone to breaking. needs reversed headstock
This guy looks the child of Martha Plimpton and a platypus. However I'm happy that he's able to get married in NY now.
You are a complete asshole.
I would like to see just one video with having a huge struggle keeping the guitar in tune, pop a string, kick the amp, chuck the guitar and say "Don't buy this piece of shit, it sucks!"
steve lukather & john petrucci ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
22 frets? Disappointed.
Give Paul any guitar be it a hollow body jazz gtr he'll play metal on it. Stupid review
Looks like a slice of pizza
Dear Santa..... oh wait i'm jewish never mind
Sure wish I could rattle off .. useless riffs .. Didn't sound like metal to me...

3500 EURO,..............................,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I'm sorry but it's ugly. I get trying to do something different but eww... And what's with those inlays?
I don't know what is more uglier... The guitar or Paul's haircut.
Great tone, However this is by far the ugliest guitar ever made
wow..........................
enjoy......................
yes.......................
