These guys need to be given licenses to make more "long-awaited retro arcade sequels". If this is the Turtles in Time 2 we always wanted, then I'd love to see them do an X-Men, or Simpsons arcade with brand new levels and characters.

so to basically sumarize shredder's plan shredder wanted to get revenge on the turtles by taking over lady liberty and destroy new york. in order to succeed, shredder came up with a diversion by tricking the turtles into thinking he was building another technodrome. and the reason all of the villains were passing each body of the technodrome to one another was because the plan was to get the turtles away from new york so they won't have any problems. Shredder is a fucking genius.
I bought this to relive my childhood memories with my son, and I am blown away by how good it is. And so many little nods to the originals that made me smile.
That's why I also bought " Streets of Rage 4". I had a Sega Genesis as a kid in the early 90s.I play with my son too. Mario and Sonic too. My friends had Super Nes.
We need to manifest Tournament Fighters 2 into existence. This franchise has so many characters. From the original Eastman and Laird era, the 1987 incarnation, the Mirage era, the 2003 incarnation, 2012 incarnation, the 2018 incarnation and finally the IDW era. I would love to see represented. I love this game. I didn't grew up with '87' cause I was introduced via the 2003 incarnation with the Fast Forward story arc (Weird entry point lol) and basically kept up with anything turtle-related and this game has a charm of an incarnation that I never grew up with or have any attachment to. Plus, if this game is successful enough (I hope it is), then we could maybe get skins or content pertaining to other incarnations of the Turtles (My preference is the 2003, IDW era and 2018 incarnations)
@@Jackfromshack I mean, that's what I like. When the 2012 incarnation was coming out, I was one of the many who liked it, but overtime, I was not as into it as I would liken it. What I liked about the 2018 incarnation was the stylized look of it, the banter between the brothers are not as aggressive as different versions, Splinter, the worldbuilding and the way the fights are choreographed.
Just finished playing TMNT SR... I want to track down the devs and give them all high fives and scream "TURTLE POWER!" so loud my voice goes out! I have never been this blasted by nostalgia in my life! May these devs make many Turtles games to come! Can you imagine if these guys got to make a Batman, X-Men or Aliens vs Predator beatemup?!
I remember going on a field trip to a Dutch Island. My classmate went there before and was claiming the 4 player TMNT arcade game was at a restaurant over there. We went to the restaurant and he was right...I remember all my field trip money ending up in that arcade machine. Great times!
The online multiplayer is amazing! Yesterday we beat the game in arcade mode with a couple of friends, and it feels like rollback netcode, no connection problems, no input lag.
My ONLY quibble with the character leveling is that it doesn’t include a bit of that deeper, Scott Pilgrim-style progression for each characters combos and such. But I also stayed up until 4AM playing the arcade mode with a random, rotating cast of strangers, so… safe to say it delivers with what’s under the hood, as-is.
This is the greatest game of all time and here is why: Throughout the years, I always try to get my friends to pay co-op/multiplayer games with me. I tried introducing them to Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Scott Pilgrim, Switch Sports, etc. None of my fiends are ever interested in these types of games. By the time this game came out I already gave up trying to get them to play. Crazy thing is, I did not advertise this game once to my boys and they all saw mw play it on my switch over my shoulder. Next thing you know, I'm hooking up the dock and we having a 4 player run and it was amazing. Everyone enjoyed the game even some on my fiends that don't play games like that. This was the first time I played a co-op game with live people since X-Men Legends 2 (2005)
I got it on the Switch for like 22 bucks, I think it’s that price for 5 more days. This game is too good 🔥🔥 I’ve been smiling from ear to ear all the time I’ve been playing
I grabbed the digital version on Steam, and pre-ordered the physical release for Switch, I have to have a physical copy of this game, but I also was not going to wait to play it, lol
My brother, a close friend, and myself played the entire story mode on launch day yesterday! We all grew up with Turtles in time for the SNES specifically l and boy howdy, we were smiling from ear to eat the entire time we played! It was so much fun! Nostalgic enough to remind you of your childhood but new and improved enough that it can really stand as its own game nowadays! Seriously, this game is great for long time fans of either the Turtles or beat em up games as well as for a whole new generation of fans who didn't really grow up with these types of games, it's just that good!
At this point I can confirm that the online play is great, even with a large number of players. There are a couple areas where syncing bugs occur, but just backing out of the level and jumping back in fixes it. That situation is super rare though from my experience and I haven't really felt any latency while playing. It's a great time!
Hyperstone Heist on Sega Genesis was the first game I've beaten as a kid. Played through Shredder's Revenge yesterday and it's pretty much an perfect sequel to this game. I still can't believe it happened.
The soundtrack is fire and the bosses were all incredible, my only change would be make Tokka and Rahzar their own boss battle but still seeing them made all the difference. On my second play through now as Casey, my #1 game of the year so far.
This game is really nice. Tight controls, combos feel good and have an impact to them, the pixel art is gorgeous, music slaps, and with all the on-point references its clearly a labour of love made by fans of TMNT. A true recipe for some perfect pepperoni gameplay. Also the scripted events that happen seamlessly when progressing through a level go a long way in adding an extra satisfying narrative to them without slowing down the gameplay Also haven't played a beat'em up since River City Girls, so this will scratch that itch nicely
I played a couple of levels earlier tonight, I feel kind of like a doofus because I bought this game on switch only to turn on the Xbox and find out that it's on game pass After playing a little bit of it however, I'm not mad that I spent the money to have it portably like I originally intended, this game is worth playing on two different devices for sure This is crafted so lovingly and it brings a smile to my face with every second I play it
I feel you! I have Game Pass as well and I still purchased it for my PS5 and Nintendo Switch Lite so I can play it on the go lol. This game is seriously that good I have no regrets!
Nothing wrong with supporting indie devs even if you didn't necessarily need to. Unless of course you really need the money. But since you bought a game with that money I assume you don't need it that badly.
@@Largentina. yeah I didn't need the money, I actually just got a new job and I'm doing better than I ever have before The best Ninja turtles game to come out in decades being available to me on top of that is just icing on the cake LOL A game like this isn't going to tire me out on replays anyway, it's an arcade game if you enjoy it you're used to playing it over and over and over again anyway I think what I'm doing is playing through the story mode on the switch and then whenever I want to play it looking a little crisper and running a little smoother I play through arcade mode on Xbox These developers definitely deserve to be rewarded, and I hope they are able to either work on a sequel or even better work on bringing a lot of other arcade classics back into the limelight

One of my favorite games of all time was a similar strip arcade x-men game which I used to play with my brothers. This game is not only nostalgic but seems to be a mini masterpiece (I have a feeling it’s very short). Can’t wait to play
I loved my time with this game! Slowly but surely, beat em ups are now back in the gaming mainstream. We got Streets of Rage 4 before, and now the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back too! What are the chances we could get another Final Fight in this style? Or maybe another Golden Axe?

Yesterday I played this game with a friend. He's a die hard turtles fan. I wasn't really sure to buy it just to play online with him. He bought the game, and shared the it with me via Remote Play on Steam. After Chapter 6 we tried Online and it was a blast. People started joining out of nowhere and we didn't even notice, we were bussy mashing buttons and suddently we have 4 more dudes on our team. It felt like an army. Really fun game, worth the price.
the 6 player mode ia fun and absolute insanity. Enemies flying and bouncing across the screen and racking up crazy ass combos and hit counts. its fun chaos
Few caveats about online that I found (am on linux, and most of these issues are ironed out when I switch to win10): Playing with remote play on linux crashes my sound drivers. Crossplay is really unstable when playing from linux with people on windows. You'll get odd glitches like your teammate constantly getting back to character select menu without any input, levels not properly progressing, and boss AI glitching out. There's a few more issues that am not thinking about here, but the game is still phenomenal, and am sure dotemu/tribute will patch these issues with time, if they haven't already. General thing about 6 players coop tho: Game is unplayable with 6 players, it's just a super attack fest, while it's a nice feature, you'll get the best experience with 2 players coop. c:
I haven't even gotten to story mode, just been enjoying Arcade with randoms and it's just a fun time. I hope they support it with survival modes and maybe a tougher difficulty to keep players coming back. Anyway, to answer the question... this is definitely the best TMNT game ever. I've played them all and I'm not sure anything can beat having 6 players, including Casey Jones, Splinter, and April. Also one of the most epic showdowns with Shredder as Wu Tang raps a diss track. So good.
Remember when the side-scrolling beat-em-up genre was relegated to the past? Now we not only have so many incredible indie titles like The Takeover and Final Vendetta, but the actual franchises themselves are returning too! Such a great time for Beat-Em-Up fans!
I got my physical copy from Amazon yesterday and I had the biggest smile on my face playing this masterpiece. The visuals, the soundtrack, the gameplay and everything in between. I didn't grow up watching the show or the movies but I've always been a huge fan of the TMNT games especially Turtles in Time and the arcade game. I didn't think it was possible to top Turtles in Time or the arcade game but these mad lad developers pulled it off. This truly is THE greatest TMNT game ever made.
Clicked on the video just to say yes, yes it is easily the best TMNT game ever made. Dotemu should be allowed to make an X-Men 97 game. Base it off of episode 3 where Jubilee and Hotspot go to Mojo World.
Honestly I'm really loving the Game! As a big fan of Beat'em Ups & TMNT the only immediate things that I can think of to make the Game EVEN BETTER would be a "Survival Mode" and a "Practice Mode" much like Streets of Rage 4 did. There's a lot of potential for DLC but the base game is still very incredible 👍
I absolutely love this game. I’m also a huge TMNT fan, so this is an absolute blast! It’s controls are so smooth. I love me some Raphael, but I’m honestly surprised how much I like April as well, she’s a pretty solid character, and one of my favorites! I hope they do dlc for this, but even if they don’t, it’s still a shell of a time. 😆
Online arcade mode (Xbox Series X) with upto 5 other players was fun. Slashing through the game together. Team mates are very kind to eachother (unlike other multiplayer games) and feed you that pizza slice when you're on the floor and KO'd to bring you back quicker. Very wholesome.
The graphics are amazing! And 6 players on 1 screen? That's havoc! Wish it was a bit more like river city, with upgrades, buying food, weapons. Games don't include those fun features anymore.
Wishful thinking if X-men arcade and Simson's arcade get's some kind a retro remake, remix, or sequel. Like X-men arcade can be base in 90's X-men cartoon, and Simpsons can be base on the early seasons of the 90's maybe 5 or 10 of them with some modern references.
I agree. It's nice but it's a little too safe. Hopefully, the inevitable DLC will address that. Also, SEGA, can we get these guys on to a Golden Axe: RoDA port? That game is waaaaay overdue for a home release!
Absolutely outstanding game - got to play through it with a friend and my son this past weekend and it was a blast. Seeing all of those deep cuts on the TV show and the old games is a real treat. The only negative I had about this game really myself is that once we understood the mechanics a bit better, we trivialised the difficulty with unlimited super attacks. It's not even a cheat or an exploit, so it felt a little disappointing because it completely removed the tension of the experience in later levels
Could maybe draw a highlight around your character in multiplayer? Coz oh boy it's easy to lose track when you have three or four turtles going nuts on screen.
Ended up preordering the Classic Edition for my Nintendo Switch via Limited Run Games. To anyone thinking about getting s physical copy, it's up until 6/24. While I wait for that to arrive, I'll play on PS4. I'm beyond excited.
The only downside I had to this game is the last level felt like it just sort of ran out of ooze. The final confrontations feel really simple and nowhere as engaging as the other bosses in the earlier levels. Still loved every bit of this game.
PS and MS Console co-op is locked to 1 player per system when played online. Switch and PC allow multiple local and multiple online players. Discovered this the hard way last night.
So glad its on game pass because i really wanted to play it. I might still buy it if it runs on the steam deck I haven’t checked yet. It’s pretty much what I would want out of a game like this.
I ended up buying it on cdkeys cheaper than it was on the steam sale. And it runs great on the deck 60fps and i have the tdp at 6 or 7 watts and the gpu at 500mhz. It really helps with battery life. Its really hard to go back to the switch but i wish the steam deck had an oled screen.
I bought this game the second it was available and have dumped a lot of time in it. At least more so than most other beat em ups I've played. I love it to death and largely agree with what Matt said here. Its the best love letter to what I grew up with I could ever ask for.

Cool game. It's like a renaissance of beat 'em up games. At a recent steam festival, I played the demo of another potentially good game - Arnold Bounty Hunter. It looks more like the first Battletoads - there are not only fights, but also various adventures with platforming, hydrocycles. It also looks interesting.
My favorite thing about this game is that taunting is a viable, and almost essential, part of the game since it refills super bars. Then you play with a group and hear taunts CONSTANTLY while fighting bosses.
I just need the team to release an OG skin mode so all the turtles are wearing red bandanas to make it just that more confusing in multiplayer. Ha ha! But seriously.
I would say more with the foot and shredder really could be done in a DLC. Because I had the same thought. This game although really well executed in level design and gameplay design, doesn't express *shredder* himself. It throws krang at you, then shredder, then the tyranny statue. And lastly super shredder. So you're telling me all but ONE boss fight (that mind me saying was a little underwhelming for the mighty shredder.) and he just goes straight to mutagen? Yeah... i don't know about that. Especially when splinter is optional and playable. I think splinter being playable would be well fit for post game, say a secret story or some dlc to come. Because shredder's problems START with splinter, and extend to the turtles. As well with more bosses would be very much so apricated, who knows. Maybe pick from 2003 and 2012 lightly for inspiration. Regardless for twenty five dollars you certainly get what you asked for as a fan. And does so much justice for the games.
I just bought it today and played it with my wife and brother-in-law. It’s great! Couldn’t stop playing! I wish this existed when I was a kid. This was everything I wanted in a TMNT game back in the day during “Turtlemania” of the late 80s to early 90s. This game took me back!
I find it kind of weird that Casey is the more powerful unlockable character once you mastered the game and not Splinter, since you now he is the master and the one who usually sits back

Hell yeah I love the game, when I'm playing it for fun and leveling just to get through it, it's a blast. Playing with friends is easy. Best TMNT game I've ever played. However nothing makes me want to hate the game more than when I'm trying to do those challenges. That no-miss challenge on stage 1 is brutal, took me hours on Okay difficulty. Still love the game though
The only thing I've came across is some of the bugs in the PC version, I don't know if any of the other platforms are having this issue but some of the levels in online play your characters disappear and it becomes unplayable especially the hoverboard levels, I also think the Turtles in Time soundtrack is better and I wish there was a way to incorporate it
For the sequel I definitely want a story mode that combines the screens and gameplay of Shredder's Revenge along with the map and exploring of the very first NES turtles game with some MetroidVania elements thrown in. Also an Arcade Mode with a randomizer and a level maker that includes a ton of Bosses and characters.

@@asteria9963 tbh I did try Fight N' Rage (bought it on sale on switch after reading many good things about it). I didn't like the art style very much and I don't remember being blown away by the first few minutes I tried it. Maybe I should give it a fair shake one of these days as I didn't really give it a chance.
Unfortunately I don't have nostalgia factor with this game but I can buttonmash so it's all good. Wish Dotemu will produce something like Dragon's Crown next! That game is still peak beat'em up game imo.
I bought the game for the Switch, it crashes usually in late game areas (especially when I go for the final boss), but it never actually bothered me. I've been replaying this game so many times, it's just great, it's become one of my new favorite beat em ups along side Streets of Rage 4. I genuinely hope this game gets DLC. More characters, maybe a new story chapter, I've even seen others mention costumes. This game is just so great, but I'd love to see what more they could add.
I would give this game the same rating. But my nit pick is about the super meter. How it will most deplete after getting hit by specific attacks. The lack of a proper tokka and razar (spelling?) fight is also disappointing. It looks like you missed a feature I particularly loved, all the turtles have the original VAs from the 80’s show. They all sound fantastic minus donatello. I guess after 40 years it’s difficult to re create the voice. None the less, I love that they are all here.
Hey Matt! Love the video man. And its a great game. I believe the story loosely follows the first season of the 1987 series if I remember. And Shredder's Revenge is his plot to re-establish the foot in NYC. Also for what splinter did to his face. He seems pissed about that too lol. I hope they make another one!
My opinion on the game is that I will happily play through to get each characters ending and max level. This is the Turtles game I have always wanted. My only gripes are the don't get hit goals against all those damn foot bastards and that the theme song in the intro isn't the original original one.
So I have no connection to TMNT (though Rise peaks the interest of the animation geek in me), and the beat-em-ups I’ve played (Scott Pilgrim and Castle Crashers) tend to feel really clunky and grindy to me. Would this still be interesting to look into?

I got chills during the opening intro of the game when I played it. I loved TMNT as a kid.
Watching the intro literally made me want to go back and watch episodes from the original series. ^^

There are a couple areas where syncing bugs occur, but just backing out of the level and jumping back in fixes it. That situation is super rare though from my experience and I haven't really felt any latency while playing. It's a great time!
Hyperstone Heist on Sega Genesis was the first game I've beaten as a kid. Played through Shredder's Revenge yesterday and it's pretty much an perfect sequel to this game. I still can't believe it happened.

The soundtrack is fire and the bosses were all incredible, my only change would be make Tokka and Rahzar their own boss battle but still seeing them made all the difference. On my second play through now as Casey, my #1 game of the year so far.
This game is really nice. Tight controls, combos feel good and have an impact to them, the pixel art is gorgeous, music slaps, and with all the on-point references its clearly a labour of love made by fans of TMNT. A true recipe for some perfect pepperoni gameplay. Also the scripted events that happen seamlessly when progressing through a level go a long way in adding an extra satisfying narrative to them without slowing down the gameplay
Also haven't played a beat'em up since River City Girls, so this will scratch that itch nicely
I played a couple of levels earlier tonight, I feel kind of like a doofus because I bought this game on switch only to turn on the Xbox and find out that it's on game pass
After playing a little bit of it however, I'm not mad that I spent the money to have it portably like I originally intended, this game is worth playing on two different devices for sure

A game like this isn't going to tire me out on replays anyway, it's an arcade game if you enjoy it you're used to playing it over and over and over again anyway
I think what I'm doing is playing through the story mode on the switch and then whenever I want to play it looking a little crisper and running a little smoother I play through arcade mode on Xbox
These developers definitely deserve to be rewarded, and I hope they are able to either work on a sequel or even better work on bringing a lot of other arcade classics back into the limelight

Can’t believe I’m getting so hyped for this game I didn’t know was releasing until a couple days ago. One of my favorite games of all time was a similar strip arcade x-men game which I used to play with my brothers.

I loved my time with this game! Slowly but surely, beat em ups are now back in the gaming mainstream. We got Streets of Rage 4 before, and now the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back too! What are the chances we could get another Final Fight in this style? Or maybe another Golden Axe?

Yesterday I played this game with a friend. He's a die hard turtles fan. I wasn't really sure to buy it just to play online with him.
He bought the game, and shared the it with me via Remote Play on Steam. After Chapter 6 we tried Online and it was a blast. People started joining out of nowhere and we didn't even notice, we were bussy mashing buttons and suddently we have 4 more dudes on our team. It felt like an army.
Really fun game, worth the price.
I’m glad that Jones made in he’s by far my favorite character when I watched the 03 show by far my favorite adaptation of the turtles
Important information: the players' character icons are freaking adorable. Angy Raph is my new favorite thing.
I absolutely love this game. On top of being great, it's internal resolution is perfect for playing on a CRT
the 6 player mode ia fun and absolute insanity. Enemies flying and bouncing across the screen and racking up crazy ass combos and hit counts. its fun chaos
Few caveats about online that I found (am on linux, and most of these issues are ironed out when I switch to win10):
Playing with remote play on linux crashes my sound drivers.
Crossplay is really unstable when playing from linux with people on windows. You'll get odd glitches like your teammate constantly getting back to character select menu without any input, levels not properly progressing, and boss AI glitching out.
There's a few more issues that am not thinking about here, but the game is still phenomenal, and am sure dotemu/tribute will patch these issues with time, if they haven't already.
General thing about 6 players coop tho: Game is unplayable with 6 players, it's just a super attack fest, while it's a nice feature, you'll get the best experience with 2 players coop. c:

I haven't even gotten to story mode, just been enjoying Arcade with randoms and it's just a fun time. I hope they support it with survival modes and maybe a tougher difficulty to keep players coming back.
Anyway, to answer the question... this is definitely the best TMNT game ever. I've played them all and I'm not sure anything can beat having 6 players, including Casey Jones, Splinter, and April. Also one of the most epic showdowns with Shredder as Wu Tang raps a diss track. So good.
Remember when the side-scrolling beat-em-up genre was relegated to the past? Now we not only have so many incredible indie titles like The Takeover and Final Vendetta, but the actual franchises themselves are returning too! Such a great time for Beat-Em-Up fans!
I got my physical copy from Amazon yesterday and I had the biggest smile on my face playing this masterpiece. The visuals, the soundtrack, the gameplay and everything in between. I didn't grow up watching the show or the movies but I've always been a huge fan of the TMNT games especially Turtles in Time and the arcade game. I didn't think it was possible to top Turtles in Time or the arcade game but these mad lad developers pulled it off. This truly is THE greatest TMNT game ever made.

Honestly I'm really loving the Game! As a big fan of Beat'em Ups & TMNT the only immediate things that I can think of to make the Game EVEN BETTER would be a "Survival Mode" and a "Practice Mode" much like Streets of Rage 4 did.
There's a lot of potential for DLC but the base game is still very incredible 👍
I absolutely love this game. I’m also a huge TMNT fan, so this is an absolute blast! It’s controls are so smooth. I love me some Raphael, but I’m honestly surprised how much I like April as well, she’s a pretty solid character, and one of my favorites! I hope they do dlc for this, but even if they don’t, it’s still a shell of a time. 😆
I joined as a 6th player online on switch. Game was absolutely seamless
Online arcade mode (Xbox Series X) with upto 5 other players was fun. Slashing through the game together. Team mates are very kind to eachother (unlike other multiplayer games) and feed you that pizza slice when you're on the floor and KO'd to bring you back quicker. Very wholesome.
Seeing the bosses from secret of the ooz made me stupidly happy 😂
They really put all the love into this game.
The graphics are amazing! And 6 players on 1 screen? That's havoc! Wish it was a bit more like river city, with upgrades, buying food, weapons. Games don't include those fun features anymore.

Absolutely outstanding game - got to play through it with a friend and my son this past weekend and it was a blast. Seeing all of those deep cuts on the TV show and the old games is a real treat.
The only negative I had about this game really myself is that once we understood the mechanics a bit better, we trivialised the difficulty with unlimited super attacks. It's not even a cheat or an exploit, so it felt a little disappointing because it completely removed the tension of the experience in later levels
Could maybe draw a highlight around your character in multiplayer? Coz oh boy it's easy to lose track when you have three or four turtles going nuts on screen.
Ended up preordering the Classic Edition for my Nintendo Switch via Limited Run Games. To anyone thinking about getting s physical copy, it's up until 6/24.
While I wait for that to arrive, I'll play on PS4. I'm beyond excited.
The only downside I had to this game is the last level felt like it just sort of ran out of ooze. The final confrontations feel really simple and nowhere as engaging as the other bosses in the earlier levels. Still loved every bit of this game.

PS and MS Console co-op is locked to 1 player per system when played online. Switch and PC allow multiple local and multiple online players.
Discovered this the hard way last night.
So glad its on game pass because i really wanted to play it. I might still buy it if it runs on the steam deck I haven’t checked yet. It’s pretty much what I would want out of a game like this.
I ended up buying it on cdkeys cheaper than it was on the steam sale. And it runs great on the deck 60fps and i have the tdp at 6 or 7 watts and the gpu at 500mhz. It really helps with battery life. Its really hard to go back to the switch but i wish the steam deck had an oled screen.
I bought this game the second it was available and have dumped a lot of time in it. At least more so than most other beat em ups I've played. I love it to death and largely agree with what Matt said here. Its the best love letter to what I grew up with I could ever ask for.
they did an amazing job. so many games I'd love to see them remix. Can you imagine if they got their hands on, Golden Axe, Alien Storm or Rocket knight adventures.
Cool game. It's like a renaissance of beat 'em up games. At a recent steam festival, I played the demo of another potentially good game - Arnold Bounty Hunter. It looks more like the first Battletoads - there are not only fights, but also various adventures with platforming, hydrocycles. It also looks interesting.
My favorite thing about this game is that taunting is a viable, and almost essential, part of the game since it refills super bars.
Then you play with a group and hear taunts CONSTANTLY while fighting bosses.

I just need the team to release an OG skin mode so all the turtles are wearing red bandanas to make it just that more confusing in multiplayer. Ha ha! But seriously.
I would say more with the foot and shredder really could be done in a DLC. Because I had the same thought. This game although really well executed in level design and gameplay design, doesn't express *shredder* himself.
It throws krang at you, then shredder, then the tyranny statue. And lastly super shredder.
So you're telling me all but ONE boss fight (that mind me saying was a little underwhelming for the mighty shredder.) and he just goes straight to mutagen? Yeah... i don't know about that. Especially when splinter is optional and playable. I think splinter being playable would be well fit for post game, say a secret story or some dlc to come. Because shredder's problems START with splinter, and extend to the turtles.
As well with more bosses would be very much so apricated, who knows. Maybe pick from 2003 and 2012 lightly for inspiration.
Regardless for twenty five dollars you certainly get what you asked for as a fan. And does so much justice for the games.

I have not liked beat ‘em ups since I was a kid but this game has revived my love for the genre.
I just bought it today and played it with my wife and brother-in-law. It’s great! Couldn’t stop playing! I wish this existed when I was a kid. This was everything I wanted in a TMNT game back in the day during “Turtlemania” of the late 80s to early 90s. This game took me back!
I find it kind of weird that Casey is the more powerful unlockable character once you mastered the game and not Splinter, since you now he is the master and the one who usually sits back

Hell yeah I love the game, when I'm playing it for fun and leveling just to get through it, it's a blast. Playing with friends is easy. Best TMNT game I've ever played.
However nothing makes me want to hate the game more than when I'm trying to do those challenges. That no-miss challenge on stage 1 is brutal, took me hours on Okay difficulty.

The only thing I've came across is some of the bugs in the PC version, I don't know if any of the other platforms are having this issue but some of the levels in online play your characters disappear and it becomes unplayable especially the hoverboard levels, I also think the Turtles in Time soundtrack is better and I wish there was a way to incorporate it
For the sequel I definitely want a story mode that combines the screens and gameplay of Shredder's Revenge along with the map and exploring of the very first NES turtles game with some MetroidVania elements thrown in. Also an Arcade Mode with a randomizer and a level maker that includes a ton of Bosses and characters.

I didn't like the art style very much and I don't remember being blown away by the first few minutes I tried it. I bought the game for the Switch, it crashes usually in late game areas (especially when I go for the final boss), but it never actually bothered me. I've been replaying this game so many times, it's just great, it's become one of my new favorite beat em ups along side Streets of Rage 4.
I genuinely hope this game gets DLC. More characters, maybe a new story chapter, I've even seen others mention costumes. This game is just so great, but I'd love to see what more they could add.
I would give this game the same rating. But my nit pick is about the super meter. How it will most deplete after getting hit by specific attacks. The lack of a proper tokka and razar (spelling?) fight is also disappointing.
It looks like you missed a feature I particularly loved, all the turtles have the original VAs from the 80’s show.
They all sound fantastic minus donatello. I guess after 40 years it’s difficult to re create the voice. None the less, I love that they are all here.

Hey Matt! Love the video man. And its a great game. I believe the story loosely follows the first season of the 1987 series if I remember. And Shredder's Revenge is his plot to re-establish the foot in NYC. Also for what splinter did to his face. He seems pissed about that too lol. I hope they make another one!
My opinion on the game is that I will happily play through to get each characters ending and max level. This is the Turtles game I have always wanted. My only gripes are the don't get hit goals against all those damn foot bastards and that the theme song in the intro isn't the original original one.

I play on steam but it has some major issues that it needs patching up. It still doesn't have the update the consoles have.
So I have no connection to TMNT (though Rise peaks the interest of the animation geek in me), and the beat-em-ups I’ve played (Scott Pilgrim and Castle Crashers) tend to feel really clunky and grindy to me. Would this still be interesting to look into?
