Korean here. Just want to give you guys a quick update. I'm pretty sure news are quicker so maybe this ain't nothin new but oh well. Plus I'm not familiar with political terms so the translation may be rough. Today, about 6 hours ago(12/7/2024, 5P.M. KST), the National Assembly started a vote regarding two topics. One, a declaration of a special law regarding stock price manipulation by the first lady, Kim gunhee, and two, the impeachment of "president" Yoon. Now you need 2/3of the entire member of parliament to participate and agree to the given topic, which are 200 votes. Well the first one was rejected by 2 votes. The second one was legendary. All the right party(the one Yoon is in right now) except 1 all left their seats right after the voting for the first one. There are 192 members from the left wing in the National Assembly so they need 8 votes from the other side to even see the result of the voting. Eventually two more came in and participated but even after numerous attempts by the left wing and the speaker of the National Assembly himself to come back and at least participate in the vote, the rest never showed up and the vote regarding the impeachment was cancelled. I'm a college student and it's currently 3 days before the finals start, but I feel guilty studying. And it's a shame to even call this guy who lead the insurrection our president.
No... It is more likely it shows there is waaaay too much corruption. There is no political stability whatsoever, so things are clearly not working well.

What is there to live for as a South Korean man especially with the number one WORST birthrate in the world when there’s nothing for them?

Flee to the North.

Here in Perú the most recent elected president tried to do something like that as well.
Congress impeached him and is now in jail
The opposition leader accepted bribes from N. Korea, China, and Pakistan. She then received a request to get her party to vote against a budget proposal that would increase education and military spending substantially. The Martial Law was to arrest those suspected of having ties to CCP who are bribing people in Seoul. Media is saying this is about the budget but it's not.

Probably because he thought he had the military on his side to get that approval from the parliament. Ratings are irrelevant when the government doesn’t represent the people. He’s method is what future dictators do btw.

South Korea is with the US; that's why.
The South Korean Democratic Party is just like the US Democratic party, it can only become worse, like turn communist. So he must have really ffed up for the people to vote extreme left.
This isn't far from the historical norm for South Korea. Look into what their government was like throughout the second half of the 20th century. Not very far from a capitalist dictatorship, they just happen to be allies with America so it's cool.
Johnny Somali must have escaped.

Political leader who lost most of the support in previous elections gets pummeled by opposition;
Political leader does not like that and wants to remain in power;
Political leader decides to call martial law, since it suspends democratic rules and wouldn't allow for him to be deposed or voted off;

The opposition Lwing party has most of the seats in the parliament, so he wasn't able to do anything without the opposite party voting against everything (including strengthening the espionage act to deter N korean spies and trying to increase budget for illegal drug trafficking investigation) and there were HEAVY speculations, and in some cases, confirmed cases of the dmcrtic party of korea being directly linked with north korean and chnse spies.
(I mean think about it, why would any political party be against enhancing drug crime investigation. Unless, if you know that the number one business north korea takes part of is drug manufacturing and trafficking)
