    This is the best drone footage ive seen yet. Of any sport in any location. I think drones are changing the way we experience sport and the natural world. MORE PLEASE ❤️❤️❤️

      Agreed. I'm no drone expert, however I think we're about to get huge steps in drone AI, with proximity and follow me and height settings all amped up. There's no reason why a drone can't be 2 or 3 m from the surfer, 1 m above water height with the ability to get up and out of danger's way when needed. Exciting times ahead

    • @evian9999
      @evian9999 5 років тому +13

      I agree! Drones have already changed photography by making it more accessible. Before drones, to get the shots they got in this video, you would need to hire a helicopter and have a camera guy hanging out the side of it. Helicopters are not cheap to rent lol.
      FPV drones are also revolutionizing photography. Search for Johnny FPV and you'll get a good idea of what they're capable of.

      Lawrence Atkinson 100%. We think the same way. I spend half my life imagining what technology is going to do soon. I foresee all the same things. Exciting is a poor word for what i feel. I spent years racing on big yachts thinking that we needed some way to get elevated shots without choppers. Now......👍

      Just the displacement of such a mass of water will have your stomach twist and turn. The biggest waves i surfed were just 10ft and the moment these things are about to jack up makes your stomach drop when not used to it. And i am not used to it.... i am a beginner.

    Surfing these waves looks like the equivalent of snowboarding with an avalanche behind you.

    • @pbs36
      @pbs36 4 роки тому +105

      With a couple small differences: even the densest snow has only half the density of water; waves keep coming one after the other.
      The only advantage of waves over of avalanches, is that you float back to the surface, hopefully before drowning, still able to swim after the beating and in a place where swimming is going to be any useful.

    Nazare is for the expert with an average of 25 years of experience, endurance and physical strength. Deep diving and your lungs are your only life support. This is not for the faint of heart. Those are savages waters. It's a jungle that can easily send anyone to their grave.
    Besides the footage is beautiful showing how waves cast shadows over the water when they curl up. The job of Ski requires intense skill and awareness too.

      Its due to that specific part of the ocean just dropping to 5500 meters or so from the beach. That huge canyon is able to generate the force to create these monsters. One of the only places like it.

    I can't really understand how someone can give a thumb down to this video. For sure that was out of envy because this is one of the bests (if not the best) Drone surfing video I've ever seen. Big Congratulations !!! I film surfing with drones myself and I know how difficult and risky it is. I've been at a couple of pretty big waves but nothing compared to this monsters and getting a nice shot was quite difficult. Again, Big Congrats to this brave pilot. Even if he filmed with a powerful zoom he was risking the drone in many occasions.
