  • What Size Sling Is For Me? In this video I try to help answer the commonly asked question, What size sling is for me? This depends mostly on the rocks you will throw and your skill level. Which are sling weight, If the sling is too heavy it will be difficult so use heavier rocks or get a lighter sling. When it comes to the length of a sling, start short and work your way up to a longer sling.
    I throw a 20 small rocks with a 36 inch Smiling Slim Sling, which is made of 325 paracord with a 4 inch pouch.I also throw 20 small rocks with my 60 inch Smiling Sling made of 550 paracord with a 60 inch pouch.
    If you want one for yourself this is how you can get your own.

    I've been watching these vids a bit now. I can only imagine that on that day when David fought Goliath. The bible says that David took five smooth stones from the river before battle. Goliath had four brothers.. love watching your channel, would like to make a sling so I'm trying to learn what I can. Keep up the good work.

    honestly, I got 'youtube algorythumed' into watching this, and I must say I very seriously am looking at your ACU 48 inch on Etsy right now, I have very little interest in slinging (before this vid) but your personality and salesmanship are so good, I almost feel I want to reward them alone. (and possibly pick up a practical/primitive hobby to boot.

    I sling with my home made leather split pocket with leather laces. 60".
    I sling small and large.
    I just use differant slinging techniques for size stone.
    Oversize stone greek over hand.
    Small rocks spartan side arm throw. It works great all the time.
    So you are correct 60" can sling all size stone. I just xhange it up like in Baseball.
    By the way, I sling just as well left hand as right handed...
    Put that in your pipe and smoke it...

    I'm looking to use slings as ball throwers for playing fetch. I'd use the short sling for balls meant for small dogs, and a long sling for balls meant for large dogs.

    Have you tried slinging a cestrosedone dart? Those are wicked mean and they have spectacular range. And the skill is almost transferrable from regular stones. In fact the longest distance an object has been thrown by a sling is a cestro dart.

    I'm curious of what you think of what I would call, the figure 8 motion. My bad Idk what it's called. But I've watched some videos of slingers claiming they get way better accuracy with that motion! Swinging from your right side to your left and timing the throw and throwing over the top. And do you suppose that's more of a rhythm thing? One more question. Which finger do you loop?

    • @PracticalParacord
      @PracticalParacord  Рік тому +1

      if you throw 3/4 its the same as figure 8 . fig 8 is 3/4 without the spin so yes i like the angle and think its accurate. Me personally and how smiling slings are made its index and pointer fingers, same fingers you would use to throw a fastball.

      @@PracticalParacord I'd say a 36 inch is perfect and maybe try that heavy duty sling made from the extra thick paracord. For a beginner the sling needs to have weight and not be prone to twisting up. That is what I learned from teaching my cousin. every part of the body has to move in a certain way to get the best results in a kick or punch and if you go over slow motion videos of slinging with someone it will be easier to show where the pouch need to be and how the arm needs to move to launch a stone just right. My karate teacher would do every kick in slow motion to show us how to move every part of our bodies as we kicked to get the most force.
