Hi Nick! Just caught the review. Overall, I thought it was well-done and I'm happy with it. Couple of things:
    1) I should have built you a smaller, thinner strap. I can do that, and after watching the review, should have. 115/70 and 3mm thick is probably a better fit for you. It's also been several months since I sent that out and it's given me a chance to get to know the piece as well. Been building the straps a little thinner as a result.
    2) All models have a date/no date option
    3) The stainless/PVD variants all come with bracelets
    4) I hate deployant clasps. That's a personal thing. May have to get over it at some point. :-)
    Thanks for everything! --Greg

The bit about deployants is fighting words, but aside from that, thanks for sharing, and I'm glad the customizability is even stronger than I thought!

A Sellita movement instead of a Seiko, and sapphire crystal instead of mineral puts this a level above most microbrands. The fact that it's bronze elevates it even more. So $800 seems reasonable, if you like large but fairly plain dive watches that don't have a bracelet and look more like a field watch with a bezel. Sounds like a pretty niche market.

Made that judgement from the thumbnail, but WATCHing the review, the combo is growing on me.

No date is more of a pro in my books. Wish more watches had the option.

I look through my watches, and about half the time I find that I replace the supplied strap and/or bracelet with something more to my liking. It's gotten to the point that I just ignore the strap while making a purchase decision, because it is such a "user preference" thing. (Doesn't mean more diverse options aren't appreciated, though).
As for the branding, I fail to understand why a sting of letters, like "GSD-5B", needs to be on the watch face at all! It's a meaningless part number. If they feel it's important, just etch it into the caseback. It doesn't need to be on the face, and it's not desirable to me....even if they do go low profile with it.

Thank you Nick for showing and reviewing this watch. I think I will be following up on the bronze design. Also, thanks for your honesty and candor on watch reviewers these days. I find myself spending less and less time with unboxers -- it is like they are pushing product rather than ideas. Another trend I find dissatisfying is reviewers selling watches they get free. Maybe the algorithm with get them after all! As Ron Burgundy would say--stay classy Nick Shabazz!

I have an 8 1/2 inch wrist so that would probably fit they just fine. I can appreciate having a smaller screen will be difficult to wear some watches

I like the idea of getting the watch any way you want it. 50mm lug to lug and 42mm case is a size I'm fond of, but I have a bigger wrist than Nick does. I also like proud divers (proud as in it's "tall" on the wrist) so this ticks a lot of boxes for me. I admire that leather strap, but I can only use leather on "office" watches my sweat just destroys leather. That bronze is nice but I'd have to go for steel or something.

  • @mojaal
    @mojaal Рік тому +2

Many watch companies denote A for steel because acier means steel in French

    Speaking of thick leather straps:
Mount the long, male end at the 12 o'clock side.
That way the dubbel/thick side will be on the top of your wrist when sitting at your keyboard or dinner table, at least if you wear the watch on your left wrist.
Works fine with NATO-straps also; thread them the opposite way.
Seems we have been doing it wrong.
The IDGUY YT-channel made me go this direction; have never looked back.

yeah but it makes it awkward to put on and take off. The buckle faces up for a reason. It's so you can pull the strap tight, find the most comfortable hole and push the tongue through in one fluid motion. When it's backwards you have to fiddle with it more and never seems natural.

Whilst, I am a G-Shock, Citizen EcoDrive, Chaparral, Case Copperlock kind of guy, I do really enjoy your watch videos.
This is a very nice watch and I like the bronze. But I put lightweight as a major factor in anything I wear or carry.
It's 40°C in Seville today. That watch would just get heavier and heavier through the day.

Nick "Rick Rolling" his audience at the 7:32 mark. I literarily had to pull out some watches just to move the bezel for sanity.

You have the means to determine the accuracy of watches. How many seconds a day does this gain or lose?

      @NickShabazz  Рік тому +1

Hi Frank, this particular watch is running between 0spd and +7spd, depending on position. Like I said, plenty accurate.

Not necessarily. The ends of the strap and geometry have to be right.

Ain’t nothing insane about inches and ounces… it’s like 2 different measurement languages .
Thanks for mocking the culture I was raised in, sorry I’m not as sane as a person that was taught the “right” measurement language
    Do you hear yourself?

I'm sure Nick was joking. I know out culture pushes everyone to assume they're being attacked and belittled but usually that's not the case. It's definitely not the case with Nick, who is a truly good guy.

Been watching him for years, heard him say it for years. He’s a year younger than me. From college age on up “intellectuals” sneer at America and Americans even tho they them selves are Americans. (Technology connections is really bad with this)
It’s gotten more intense over the last few years and as a combat vet I’m truly truly sick of fellow citizens mocking each other for being stupid because they are Americans. It’s dim witted and gross at this point

That is funny. honest. Nowa days I work on diesel trucks and constantly switch between sae and mm But the reason I choose not do so in the bigger picture is there needs to be differences around the world, all the different jackasses out there need a place to go. If the world ever did get standardized, the common jackass wouldn’t be able to find a place. I don’t mind talking mm for watches cause that’s industry standard. But to suggest it’s a more intelligent way to think.. eeeh that’s too far. Not to mention dividing by ten is easy even for grade schoolers… so that ironic. People can paint the world a consistent shade of grey if they want. But my opinion is, I believe a world of different colors is healthier and therefore happier if you get my analogy. I don’t hate differences, I’ll buy a proper product from anyone
Also I know I’m being over the top sensitive about it, I apologize. I’m not a high speed tacticool dude, I simply volunteered for duty back in 03 It’s really been a time lately amigo, the last 3 years have demonized anyone that doesn’t want to “pretend to be enlightened”. -America this the west that..- who cares . I watch ALOT of your videos because I absolutely dig how unabashedly different you are
Also I’m flattered you responded directly. Now I can tell (absolutely no one and sound sane lol) that I spoke with The Great Shabazz

A lovely watch, but is that strap a little too narrow for the lug width? Seems to have abit of sideways play when you handle it, which might put stress on the pins?
