i remember back in the day where if you wanted a 3d floor, you needed to make a room all by itself in some corner of the map, assign the same tag to that room as the sector you want to have the 3D floor in, do some voodoo in the properties, and then change the floor and ceiling in the other sector to be the 3D floor's ceiling and floor (inverted) in the playable map. Oh it was so janky, and it was so cool at the same time
Hi, I'm new on your channel and I REALLY appreciate your tutorials! I was wondering, when applying textures, how do you determin where's the front and the back ? And why are there three places to put textures (three gray boxes front and three grey boxes back. I'm really confuse about that. Can you explain it to me ? Thanks!

I hate that the 3D floor square doesn't appear where your cursor is. I felt like an idiot trying to make floors and wondering why the map gives me an error - that box popped up on top of an existing sector out of view. Thanks for the tutorial. I probably would've given up
@@raven67854 My problem was trying to follow an older tutorial where I made dummy sectors manually and tried tagging them to the floor I wanted. I guess the 3D Floor Mode got updated since that video.

@@raven67854Cool. Because someone was recreating the Alpha Half-Life campaign in the Doom engine, & was having difficulties with 3d floors, so he used silent teleports for room-over-room. Movable floors would be particularly useful for a puzzle that involves adjusting the heights of hanging structures.
Oh nice that is kinda cool. There is a way to do room over room in GZDoom using portals. I covered it briefly in another video but that only covers part of it

Hey don't give up now! I do agree that without the 3D Floors tool it is a lot harder managing the tags and all. But it certainly does make it easier.

Yep on the TODO list. But teleporting and the other fun stuff you can do with "portals". Like linking rooms together.
