- This video will go over how to program a Tru-Bolt electronic keypad. The model being programmed is a Tru-Bolt Madison Satin Nickel Classic Electronic Keypad Door Deadbolt. Model Number: 1740128. This should would for most Tru-Bolt keypads. This also works for programming Honeywell electronic keypads.

Lol, almost caused a divorce last night. Where was this video when I needed it most. lol. wife and I are legally blind and the directions were nothing but shitty stick drawings that someone with 20/20 vision probably couldn't understand. Grammar in what little writing in the manual exists makes no sense either. We are very tech savvy people, and officially hate setting up this lock.

Thanks for posting. My batteries dies after many years of loyal service and the instructions have long since disappeared. Without reprogramming on a regular basis, I'd never be able to remember all of the button presses.

What if it’s already installed and you don’t know any previous codes?? How do you delete everything and start fresh??
I have deleted all user codes after changing programming code, but it still opens with the default user code. anyway to delete that?
The programming code does not make it flash green, but it does make a sound when entered. However, after a second or two of entering the programming code, it flashes red. I cannot seem to put the new codes in in time.

So does yours lock after about 20 seconds automatically? If you watch the video to the end there is an Auto-lock feature that may have been set. If you look in the description you can see the time codes. That would be the only reason I know of that the lock would relock.
Thank you for the video. I have the same lock. I have no problem unlocking it, but it will not lock. When I press lock, I get the two red error lights and beeps. Have you seen this? Any ideas? Thank you in advance.
i had a simalar issue, and it was because there was not enough clearance for the bolt to come outward all the way into the door frame. and the bolt would be very springy and not unlock or lock all the way. i took a large drill bit and chipped a little of the door back so the bolt would not strike it.
bring it back and replace it with a new one. That or re watch the video or read the instructions better that come with it. Mine Works Amazing. That and the Menards website for the lock it gives you step by step how to install it.
Mine is reverse. Lock is unlock. And unlock is lock. Who knows why but it works.
@jenniferallen5259 possibly change the switch on the inside from L (left) to R (right) or vice versa. Depending on which side the latch is on.

No that would just set it back to the factory code. If you forget the factory code and don't have the box you may have to call the company. I don't believe the factory default code is the same for every lock.
I added a new user and new code but it still won’t lock or anything. It just beeps and flashes red

When I enter the default admin code and press unlock , it beeps red instead of green. I can’t proceed because of this. Help ?
Is it new out of the box? Sounds like there is another programming code already set. You can factory reset it by removing the battery for 10 seconds then putting it back and when it beeps twice hit the lock button 3 times in 3 seconds.
I did a factory reset and I did the password and it seems like it is trying to open but It flashes red. Why is this? Is it a programming mistake?
Most likely it is a programming issue. If you did a factory reset it wiped everything so you are back to the default Programming code and no user codes. Is the default Programming code working or did you change it?
For some reason my lock will not open. Unfortunately I cannot find the key. What is the solution? How can I get the door open without calling a blacksmith?
Do you know the master code? If you can get to the batteries you can factory reset it.
@@HomeRepairHub No. For some reason the Master Code does not work. I know that getting to the batteries will allow a fix. Unfortunately they are on the inside of the room.

I would check to make sure that the connection on the actual lock was installed properly.

If you know the programming code you can reprogram the lock. Otherwise you will need to factory reset the lock. Pull the battery, wait at least 10 seconds. Reinstall the battery, wait for the long and short beep and then hit the lock button 3 times within 3 seconds.

What’s the point of having different user codes? Each person can get the real number but why would that matter? Why doesn’t everyone just use the same number? Is there any reason whatsoever for all of this shenanigans?
It really depends on the use of the lock. If its just a couple people living at the property you may only need one code. Its also nice in the event you have a technician coming over to work on something and you can't be there to let them in. You can simply give them a code and when they are done you can delete their code. Then you don't have to delete the main code you use yourself. I use this lock at a couple of my rentals, the tenants have a code, maintenance staff has a different code, and I have a different code. This way I can delete codes as necessary without everyone needing to learn a new code. I recently did a video on a defiant electronic keypad which actually has a one time use code which simply is deleted after one use. I am not sure what you mean? Yes, the programming code can be used to unlock the door. I believe that is only if there are no codes setup.
