My parents never showed me how to eat, they get fast food every single night, make me finish my plate, never really gave me and my siblings healthy food when we were younger which led me too a insane binge disorder so now I'm trying to be healthier
hope you heal but remember that it's not your fault or thier fault they also maybe didn't grow up in a family where they eat healthier And your disorder is a sign to start a new chapter in your life it is happening for a reason to heal your self and start healthy journey Hope you all the luck in your life
I'm kinda similar. I think it really has a lot to do with being low income as well. Fast food stuff is cheaper and easier. I'm overweight and I reallyyy want to start eating healthy and workout
Lucy-I think I watch at least one of your videos every day now and you’ve been a huge help in my journey on unlearning the destructive relationship I had with food. ❤Thank you so much! Little victories are being won daily and it feels so good to be shaking off the fear and shame
Coconut milk, kefir, and nonfat plain Greek yogurt have replaced every cream base in my diet. I try to get mmost of my sugar from whole fresh fruit. I try to get protein from as many different sources as possible. I get most of my fats from olive oil, avacado, eggs, and meat. Most of my carbs come from tubers(carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.) (Whisper] i also know how to make chocolate.
I literally went to the doctor yesterday and I got my blood work done. If don’t start eating healthy, I will end having High blood sugar and heart problems and I am already too young to be having these problems. I also need to lose 10 pounds so I can get back to my usual weight. I don’t have the confidence to do this but I have to do it man.
The focus on mindful eating and listening to your body is so important. It's easy to forget how much joy and connection there can be in simply enjoying your meals, and this video really reminded me of that
Anecdote about enjoying food. During covid-19, I went from weighing around 62 kilo all the way to about 87; almost 50% more. Now, I was always a little on the slim side, so a little extra weight was fine. But I got a major belly, problems with my joints, problems with walking stairs, and eventually even problems with regular walking. At the end of 2021 I decided that it had been enough. I started walking daily, doing some strength training, and getting into nutrition. Calorie counting was an eye-opener for me; I had no idea of how much I ate and how much I spent, what foods are how calorie dense, or how to eat fufilling meals with less calories. I went quite deep into nutrition, and once I came back out again I found that I perceived unhealthy foods as much less tasty, and healthy foods as much more tasty. Just having the knowledge of what was good for me rewired my taste. Result is that I have quit eating processed sugar almost completely, and processed foods in general; started eating much more (plant and dairy based) protein, much more fiber, and less fat. I eat a lot of fruit, veggies, nuts, and seeds, and they are my favourite snacks now. I am healthy and fit, gained a lot of muscle, and generally feel much more energized, focused, and powerful. One of the best decisions in my life, to decide I wanted to become and stay physically healthy. Enjoying food was key to that, but don't be afraid to try to change what food you actually enjoy, with me at least it wasn't hardwired at all.
Sugary foods can cause inflammation and should not be eaten or eaten very rarely. I made banana bread muffins with honey, olive oil, and half whole wheat flour, bananas, and coconut. This is a nice healthy treat❣️🥰💕🥥🍌God bless you Lucie❣️🙏🏻💕💕
I’m technically healthy weight, but I’ve been dropping in weight so rapidly recently because my life got a bit hectic and I just never enjoyed eating food. As a kid, I’d be so grossed out with the cafeteria food (I was partially right in that, there was a mass poisoning at that school) that I just wouldn’t eat, and only eat a small breakfast in the morning and a dinner in the evening. Now, I exercise and am very active, but eating feels like a survival quest, or just scrounging. I desperately try to get my calorie count to at the very least 1500. I’ve never been insecure about my body. It’s not a mental thing. I just hate eating?? I’m trying my best to give my body the fuel it needs, it’s just hard keeping up with my (probably ADHD-caused) icks about food.
Stopped drinking sodas even diet ones, I only drink water and herbal teas mostly without sugar I’ll eat fruit if I need sugar and I stop eating for boredom and emotional regulation I run now instead if I’m sad! Now lost a stone in a weeks
This is the first video that actually makes sense. First video that is not diet or fitness obsessed but really about our mindset and how we view food. Thank you I learned so much from it and wrote down some things
Thank you for all the information. I’ve been eating a ton of sugar and I wanted to start eating more healthy so I don’t have raw teeth and I don’t grow up the right way.
I liked the big take away to eat good you enjoy. i hate chia seeds and have been forcing them into my food bc they are good for me. I can gain their benefits from other things that I enjoy. Yay!
I have a really bad addiction to eating lots of food with sugar, salt, and fat which has caused me to gain a lot of weight. How can I make improving my diet and going to the gym easier?
This past Nov my blood work showed my A1c is 5.8, prediabetic. I stopped eating rice, potatoes, bread, pasta & have lost 10lbs since Nov. Bad news is now I only weigh 116lbs. I cannot afford to lose anymore weight. My snacks are like cukes, celery, nuts, berries, nothing calorie dense. How can I gain weight & not compromise my health?
I have anaemia and constant fatigue. I took a year off school and work 2x a week but I start school again in September. And I’m worried I won’t have energy for it
Hey thanks for your videos. I appreciate the effort you put in and I think I can definitely learn a lot watching loads more of them! One thing I always struggle with is food storage and especially as leftovers as I am constantly worried about how long until it spoils etc I appreciate you don't use meat but I feel like you would make a fanatic video about this subject. So I hope you consider it. Thanks again 😊
Guys I need tips on how to stop binging, because for months I've been eating uncontrollably because my friends tell me that I'm too thin and should eat more, but they don't know that it hurts me because I've been suffering from an eating disorder for years, it's hard to like your own body and then I get such comments, but I can't tell them that it hurts me because I never tell what hurts me. They are actually good friends but still I can't really trust them because I only know them for a few months.
I love your videos! Quick question: is it better to eat half a plate of veggies, a quarter plate of protein, and a quarter plate of carbs; or is it better to eat approximately a third of a plate of each? In a couple of your videos you recommended the first version of the plate method, and this video has the second version.
What nutritional advice do you have for women going through menopause? And do French women have the abundance of negative symptoms (such as night sweats, insomnia, bloating, joint/tendon pain or arthritis) associated with menopause that American women seem to have? I just turned 50 and when I hit 49, every symptom in the book just dumped on me. When I was 44, I began intermittent fasting and had a wonderful relationship with food since that time. I ate clean-ish. I was very intuitive and I felt great except for perimenopausal symptoms kept worsening. I’m now on HRT (estrodiol patch and oral progesterone) and trying to fix my gut. Also trying to eat more protein…seems like I just can’t get enough! My doctor tells me this will help my symptoms but I don’t feel as good as I used to. What do doctors in France tell women at this age?
Hey Edukale, this was a really helpful video, thank you 😊 Could I ask what your advice would be for someone trying to stop calorie and macro counting formed from a habit? Also what would a portion of healthy fats look like when you mentioned the plate method? X
So glad you think so! Maybe this video can help: ua-cam.com/video/0nzZBPA_7Cc/v-deo.html For the fats, usually they are easily included when you cook with oils or butter, eat animal products, eat avocados or nuts...
All of your tips are really good... but I stumble when you say track calories... Yes, you say you do not necessarily recommend it - which is great! - and I do get why you say it, you are a classically trained nutritionist, and this is what we learn in school. But, and i know you know this too, there is such a big difference from person to person in energy expenditure, hormones, for women the time of the month, stress levels even... body muscle mass, etc. I personally think that calorie counting is the wrong idea, for people with a propensity for black and white thinking / OCD it can trigger eating disorder tendencies, and really, we do not know how much energy/calories we need in a day, it differs from person to person, but also it differs from day to day for the individual. This is where listening to your hunger and intuition comes in. Calorie counting is just... pointless. It may lead to underfeeding, or overconsumption, because it tells a random individual to eat this much cals per day, while this standard number has nothing to do with said individual... it's just a guesstimate. I think this mathematical approach to nourishing oneself is a great big distraction and mistake, it leads us away from our inner compass, which knows exactly what it needs. If only we listen, and not get distracted by numbers and equations. But again, I do get why you mention it. I just wish you would emphasise the other part too, as I know you're into gentle nutrition and intuitive eating. M,uch love.
I'm trying to cover everything one might need to learn the basics of healthy eating, and I do emphasize that I don't recommend calorie counting and prefer intuitive eating and listening to your body :)
Calorie counting is not a bad thing for everyone. Finding your TDEE gives you an estimate for how many calories to consume based on general activity level. If you have a binge eating disorder like I do, knowing the amount of calories you need to eat a day and shooting for that number in a general sense is very helpful. If I ate with my intuition, I would eat myself straight into the grave. Having a goal to strive for gives me a sense of achievement and encourages me to stick to portion sizes. Do I toss those numbers out the window on occasion? You betcha, but overall counting calories keeps me on track for my weight loss goals. When I’m done losing weight, I’ll probably try to eat a little more intuitively, but my disorder means I’ll likely never do away with numbers entirely. Everyone is different, but that doesn’t make it pointless. Just wanted to share another perspective on the matter.
My parents never showed me how to eat, they get fast food every single night, make me finish my plate, never really gave me and my siblings healthy food when we were younger which led me too a insane binge disorder so now I'm trying to be healthier

I'm in the exact same boat. We can do it! Although it will be hard to break life long habits but it's great to try
Same😢((

Best advice I've ever heard, this is healthy instead of disordered and perfectionist like most people try to be.
Thank you! "Improvement not perfection" bit was really motivating. I need to get rid of the "all or nothing" mentality and just do my best
I am absolutely bamboozled by the fact that this video has this few likes.
