I love foggy weather and coffee too. I love the sound of fog horns. I heard them as a child. So special.
All of the foghorns we get here are the big cruiseships going by. It's nice with the fog I don't have to see them - haha :)!
Another week. It’s nice getting a bird’s eye view of a private island that most of us will never see. Thanks for the view!

thank you!! i feel the same way about the scenery. it's stunning. there are times when i stand out on the boat dock in the early morning and can't believe this is my life :)
Every time my wife and I see the dock we say “ I’d sit on that dock with coffee and binoculars all day” haha great video ms Amanda
haha - the boat dock or the 'drinking' dock? the dock in front of my cabin is called the 'drinking dock'. every guest is different. some love the boat dock and some grab blankets, hot drinks and binoculars and sit there all day watching the whales :)
@@AmandaOffGrid hahaha completely ageee. We are from Florida and went to the San Juan islands Washington last year and fell in love with the whole west coast. Such a huge difference in weather.

I love Peach’s first thing in the morning dash out of the cabin. I did not realize bears like petroleum products. We better hide our gas cans too! Enjoy your Fog-ust. We get that in Port Renfrew also in August.

One of the reasons we used to burn alder is because that's what you cook over you don't cook over cedar or fur cause it makes the food taste yucky plus my dad's was a logger And the only wood that you're allowed to cut down in the bush was Alder you weren't allowed to cut any furs I'm sure you could cut down windfalls but with all their all you got to do is cut the bark off a tree all around it and then next year you have firewood standing dry firewood we used to go to certain campsites all the time every summer and I always have a wood supply of altar standing dry
pretty much all the windfalls here are young alder. not too many firs on the island, but the ones that are here are massive! i love the smell of alder burning! it has such a distinct smell.

Such a great work filled video. You're the hardest worker. You need a raise Whst ever your salary is you deserve more. Happy fishing. I know you gonna catch some good food for you and peach.
A raise? I wish - haha! Just kidding. I do spend a number of hours per day working on my freelancing projects. I'll usually do something outside in the morning (when i'm the only one here. when there are guests i find i'm up hours earlier than everyone else and don't want to wake people up) and then in the afternoon i'll sit at my computer :)

Hello Amanda and Peaches, love the video as always. What I really like is the softness of your voice Sometimes people seem to have to talk loud and it irks me, lol. You know what has to be done and you get on it. I was wondering, do you ever take your boat out just to sail around your area? I would love to see you at the helm, Mate, lol. You take care.
nah i haven't taken the boat out. when Buttercup was alive she couldn't go with me and i didn't want to go without her. now my boat needs some TLC before it goes anywhere. i've got to get a diver here and then next summer get her out of the water to paint the bottom.

Thx Amanda lovely video glad the island is protected from your videos always seems lots of logs washed up. Have to say your a star with wood stacking seeing all that wood under verandah and side of house amazing. Do guests come outside summer? Peach looks like she has filled out not so much a puppy.
Hi! Yes, it's a good thing the islands in this area are protected :)! Many of the logs the owner leaves on the beaches as it protects the shoreline. He'll get a ton of the beach logs just floating by :). No, the property does not have guests in the winter. The weather is very bad in the winter and it gets quick dangerous to move around on the water.

Not much sunshine this summer... we're in a funny little pocket here. We're now right into 'fog-gust' so not much sun still. i don't mind it though :)
Maybe I misheard or misunderstood the guidance you were given regarding connecting a Victron controller. I have the same one you just installed and I always connect the positive cable first, then the negative cable. As you did connect the battery to the controller first and then the PV array. I just checked the Victron manual and it offers no guidance on which cable to connect first, just to connect the battery before the solar panels.
If I misunderstood what you were told, my apologies.

The reason I was told to always connect the positive first in any application is there is less chance of a spark doing it that way.

Hi Don, yes,that what was said... to connect the negative first on both battery and solar. i did a bit of research and found this: "By connecting the negative terminal first, you minimize the risk of creating a short circuit, which can happen if the positive terminal is connected first and the tool accidentally bridges the gap between the positive terminal and the ground." this is the only thing i could about it. in the end i'm just glad my charge controller worked after installation :)!! thanks for watching!
@@AmandaOffGrid Keep in mind, unless you lay a conductor across both poles of the battery, there is no chance of causing a short until after you connect the negative pole. If you layed a conductor across both battery poles it will short regardless of which one got connected first.

I have a cabin in the mountains and a house in the city I enjoy living at both part time.
nice! i think when i was younger i probably would have loved that, but now i'm a bit older getting to town isn't as appealing as it once was :)!! that being said i wouldn't turn my nose up at a life like that, that's for sure!!!

It's hard to grasp how cold it is there, in the middle of summer, is it ocean currents that cause the cool weather, winds from the north?

nope. i'm not 100% sure she'd chase one, but for sure she'd bark and make it aware that he's not welcome. she for sure wouldn't run from a bear.

I love coffee too I owned a specialty coffee house for 4 years called Raggles End Bistro we had over 200 cold and hot coffee drinks was like serving at a bar love that try different coffee brands but always came back to the same one and now that I've had that I find it very hard to find a good cup of coffee or a good brand the only brand I found this any good is Canterbury coffee and it's hard to find nowadays it was a higher priced coffee but always went back to it because that's what you want for your customers especially when you're serving espresso and that's all I drink is espresso coffee beans I'm brew it like a normal coffee but I use expressive coffee because I like a real dark flavored coffee second Cup is a good coffee too but that's also hard to get unless you own a charge card and I don't own a charge card been there done that before😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
yes, coffee is good :). unfortunately i cannot have caffeine anymore as it gives me chest pains and heart palpitations, but i do drink decaf. i don't miss the caffeine at all. i just love the taste of coffee :)
Yeah that is so weird with grout dude hooking up the positive and the negative on those charge controllers because most things you hook up the positive first and I heck up the ground away from your battery not onto your battery because you don't want sparks around a battery that's the other lead acid battery I've had those things blow up right in my face and it's not fun enough at work
