    Thank you! Never understood why my Rapalas didn't work. Used this knot yesterday and the pike and bass were slamming my lure like it was free pizza at a pot party.

    Used this fishing with crankbait for the first time and held onto some good sized bass! Thanks!

    Really great abrasion resistance and though I've never put the Big Game line ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxQ4x31pJVpClzhxzNFeILZYTW7Xbs7ZIF (any poundage) through an official test it always seems to break well above rated poundage. This line stretches a very good amount before it breaks and does well in saltwater too. Not the best line for a spinning reel in my opinion, especially if you're planning on using it for lures only due to it having a bit of memory but still a great line whether filling a spool, using as top shot or strictly for leader line. I've bought a bunch of Big game line in the past and plan on continuing to do so in the future.

    Thank you! Question: I know that with many knots, it's important to thread the line back through loops in a particular direction (that is, the same way it went through the first time). What is the rule with this loop knot? Thanks again!

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  4 місяці тому +1

      That is important with some knots (especially line-to-line knots like an Alberto knot or blood knot), but I don't think it matters either way with this knot.

    Had a 15 lb pike on line that was 5lb for parch the knot is main part of any fishing rig .i lost big trout over rushing to get lure on water i never wet knot and she came out of water jump and shap the knot at ring.

      Skimping on a good knot is never worth it. Too many great fish are lost because of that mistake.

    Why knot just use a snap clip? ( without a swivel ). That way you can change lures without re-tying? Is the knot better than a snap clip?

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  22 дні тому

      It depends who you ask. I personally use snaps often and I think they offer the same benefits as a loop knot. Others will swear that a loop knot is better. I made a couple of underwater comparison videos about this exact question (3 minutes and 4 minutes). ua-cam.com/video/RM-mmBS_yO4/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/mRShF5tYMDo/v-deo.html

    What do you libricate the knot with? I know this may be a stupid question so I apologize in advance.

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  6 місяців тому +4

      Most people lubricate it with saliva by just putting the line between their lips. Another option is to rub water on it or dip it in the lake (while still holding onto the lure to make sure it doesn't fall off of the knot).

    Everyone else I’ve seen do this knot sends the tag end through the overhand knot loop after it’s run through the eye of the lure.

    • @FishingwithNat

      That will also work. There are lots of ways to tie a loop knot that perform well.

      That’s how I was taught . Improved clinch pretty much and the overhand knot just holds your loop from slipping to the eye of the lure .

      Some sort of leader (mono, fluoro) I'm assuming. I wouldn't tie directly with braid. Tie the braid to the leader with a double uni knot. Easy, strong.

    will this work for top water whopper ploppers?

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  3 місяці тому

      Yes but there's no real reason for a loop knot on a whopper plopper since it just retrieves straight back. A snug knot like a modified Uni or Trilene knot tends to be stronger.

    How about to a swivel clip so can change lures quicker?

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  2 роки тому +4

      Good timing - I am releasing a comparison video this evening that looks at loop knots, snaps, swivels, split rings, etc. and compares them all above and below water.

    • @BrokenFox9
      @BrokenFox9 2 роки тому +1

      @@FishingwithNat I found that swivel clip changes how my lipless crankbait moves. If I put a flat clip it wobbles better for some reason. Same for my jerkbaits and swimbaits. Idk maybe it’s just me

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  2 роки тому +2

      @@BrokenFox9 I think a swivel clip/snap swivel is typically unnecessary on crankbaits. Crankbaits rarely cause any line twist that would justify the swivel part, unless the retrieval speed is too fast. I tend to direct-tie with jerkbaits to keep them balanced when suspending.
