  • Excited to share with you all my brand new old Strida 5.0, the updated version of the Strida Mark I I've featured in previous videos, because one Strida just isn't enough! This newer Strida was probably built in the late 2000s by Ming Cycle in Taiwan and features full aluminum construction (no plastic top and bottom joints), disc brakes, magnetic clips, a larger size, and a plastic rack. It also features a three piece crankset and sealed bearings, making it cruise like a dream compared with its slower, older counterpart. I average 13-14 mph riding this around the neighborhood, compared with 10-12 mph on the Mark I. I find it's best suited to short 5-10 (or even up to 20) mile rides to relieve soreness after longer rides. It's almost a physical therapy bike! I'm still getting adjusted to the quick response of the disc brakes but have enjoyed the 112 miles I've ridden on this Strida 5.0 so far. I may replace the rims with spokeless LT rims in the future, but so far the existing rims are handling fine. Future videos will show you how you can fold and unfold the bike plus how I've outfitted the bike thus far. I realized I forgot to mention that the handlebars are now collapsible but I'll definitely demonstrate that when I show how to fold and unfold the bike.
