Jason, do you have information for servicing the steptronic transmission's internal valve body parts? I'm hoping to squash some of the 2nd and 3rd gear slips I get (from my 2003 E46 325i prod 10/02 -A5S360R/390R) with 200k miles. I won't be able to afford or feel it's worth trying a swap on this one. ECS is showing me to replace 2 solenoids, 1 pressure regulator, 3 clips, and 1 Plug Housing. Does this sound correct? Weird is ...I get no codes. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks

Love your content and you have helped me to get to grips with removing my ZFHP26 gearbox. I have to rebuild my engine, it's the 535d wagon. I had a faulty injector on cylinder 6 and it ended up melting the top of the piston and taking chunks out of the valves. I could have bought a used one but I choose to fix it by replacing the block... or everything depending on how you look at it. I'll change crank Barings and piston rings and all gaskets while I'm at it. No small job. Perhaps a bit optimistic for my first engine build but step by step, and with your help - I can do it! At least that is what I tell myself when I look in the mirror. My gearbox also needs reconditioned as well as a reconditioned torque convertor. We love the car so much that we will suffer this pain to get it back. Keep up the good work my man!

Fellow 335D owner here and as we share a similar engine I was wondering if you knew what made your injector go bad, and possibly what were the symptoms of it.

Had a 07 335i for 8 years no big issues besides water pump thermostat, sold it with 90k miles
You got to be the smartest mechanic in the us you choose to specialized yourself on BMW(junk). You will have endless work forever.

I miss driving my e90 335i. I do not Miss repairing it bi-weekly I now have a b7 Audi a4. And although there's is still some German car quirkiness. Way more reliable. And cool in different ways. But no comparison the e90 is more fun to drive.
My e92 m3 dct transmission seems like its lower then normal
Ok, i did a drain and fill on my zf6hp19 with the valvoline. I had a 4-5 flare before i did it and it seemed to fix that for me. No more ZF fluid for me, only Valvoline max life. I have a lot of miles on the car. Changed fluid and pan @ 150k miles with ZF and drove 90 K with flare if pushed hard it would flare so i just drove it easy for the 90 K to prevent it flaring. Drain and fill with Valvoline @ 240k. ZF fluid is about 5 times more expensive also
Say man, quick question. I have. E46 and the gear with this ! Known as limp mode. I was driving fine one morning and park it went to work and 8 hrs later i started the car and traction control along with the limp mode lights are both on. Any idea what could be the reason?
This is why I only by the 328i. I don’t have patience or the money for 335 problems
My 2002 330ci w/zf transmission has code P0741torque converter not locking of.

restart of gearbox....put key in twist or press (but do not step on break) ...foot on accelaration for 40 seconds and take the key out from ignition..
Strictly my experience with a 2003 e46 transmission... mine was jerking/jumping from 2nd to 1st when down shifting, after 3 diagnosis including One BMW dealer they found nothing to be fix, fluid, filters, gaskets were replaced and nothing... one day my alternator died and turned out that it was a lower voltage than the one I needed, went to the dealer and got the correct alternator... first thing I noticed was the transmission jerking, and jumping from 2nd to 1st ( to my pleasant surprise)

I have an e46 330i 2003 auto, and had no issues with transmission. As you probably already know, the older are better 😉
Luke Skywalker have same car , has torque converter code very common for seals inside to bypass
They used a GM made tranny in e46 autos, probably the most problematic of all BMW auto's
Get the manual if buying used 335i.

Hello i have 1 2008 BMW 328i..after we jumped the low battery in trunk, all the lites stay on and wipers stay on with CAR OFF and brake lites stay on.Also the shifter stopped shifting at same time..what causes this? I can manually override it but does it have a FUSE??? IF so do u know where ..i have no fuse diagrams that came with car..its an automatic 4 door seadn 2008 328i..thanks!!
I have a question, might be able to help.. my 02 bmw 325i ripped a trans cooler line on the freeway and leaked everything/ no gears.. replaced cooler line, filter, trans oil, serpentine belt and pulleys.. now my trans wont pass 2nd gear in automatic but in manual it can go up to 3rd gear.. after learning that I replaced filter, oil, valve body/solenoids. shifts better but still wont shift pass 2nd in auto, but shifts into 3rd in manual

I have a 2003 330xi , when I shift from it into drive i havw to rev it a few times before it engages. Any advice . I do not take my car to shops if i can avoid it. I like to DIY as much as I can .

I’m going to do the transmission fluid flush and pan change in a week or so and just wondering how you reset the adaptive transmission parameters. I have a Foxwell nt510 scan tool with the bmw software and was wondering if I can access this function with that scan tool . Keep up the great work from a new subscriber. 🤙
You come across any 03 325i with transmission slip codes but solenoids work?? Any other places you think I can find out
What’s up bro I have this 2006 530xi and it stays in first gear codes says solenoids are bad but when codes are cleared it drives normal shifts with no problems then when car gets turned off an turned back on the code reappear and says faulty transmission or transmission faulty please contact me maybe if ur close I can bring it to u or give me some advise I’m in NC

I have a 08 328xi. And there is literally a new problem with it like every month. Now it won’t go in drive or reverse ... once I get it fixed I’m just gonna trade it in for either Audi or Cadillac. BMW’s look nice and all but I’ll never buy another one ever again.

Are the 8 speed ZF transmissions in the new 3 series (F30) more reliable?
I recently did a 8 speed transmission fluid and filter change at 70k for my e84 x1. Fluid was light brown, regular is green. Almost no metal shavings. I think the transmission held up great. I also did my 6 speed e93 335i transmission fluid and filter change at 50k. Fluid was also a light brown, but there was alot of fine metal shaving stuck to the magnet. The vehicle was a lease vehicle, with slow shifting issue. After the fluid change, than fluid and filter change, and reset adaptation; the vehicle shifts like a champ.

Great video. I had a 06 e60 and the automatic tans went out at 160,000 ish after have it repaired at 125,000. I now have a 08 manual and I hope this one last longer.
Looks like the trans came from a Ford Truck. They are quite similar.

Hi , I got a issue with my temp gauge on my E-39. The car is cold and when it is turned on , the temp gauge goes over to the red , but the light to say that the car is overheating is off. Can you give a solution?

Might not be the thermostat try going over to the abs pump and unplug the electrical connection on the front then start the car if you don't have any problems then you need either a new abs computer or a re-nanufactured one

ps.check level of oil or battery -sometimes if the battery level is low that happens..BMW are design to drive hard if opposite all dies

sysmatic's unplug battery unplug wire's to tranmission, put in park push car back and then push car forward. if shift on auto or manual move more then 1/8 then tranmission separated from tranmission any more then that internal damage.
If not movement on shift then rock one more time back till catch's and forward till catch's go in last button person hit such down hill button with speed odometer press in car on and press off. cause that won't release until it normally pops back out. other big problem is gas shut off plastic pull like piece of plastic, reset for fuel on and shut off's like staleing and test vechile. more likely no serious problems. best thing on mod is to attch to fuel shut off and bring new cord underneath carpet in trunk and show customer as it come's out around inside panel and under trunk carpet let customer know fuel shut off and to let loose to panel if fuel problem and stales occur to just bring in for reset of fuel system.
Cigarette light all original no matter year make sure cigarette lighter do's not ground out and fuse is to new specifications of fuse and cigarette lighter fuse size, in such thou do's not work plug computer in and turn it back on thru computer.
My first and 2nd gear jerks hard, is that caused by solinoids? And my 5th gear engages all weird when accelerating hard and shifting. What can be the cause of that issue?
If it's a BMW with the ZF 5 or 6 speed auto unit it could be the valve body or the sleeve which is allowing fluid to seep in. Check the sleeve first and hope it's actually that otherwise it will be a valve body and that's big money. I had a C280 Mercedes that suffered the trans connector seal failure and it led to harsh shifts until I changed it and the TCU cleaned of fluid.

this music is absolutely crap. I like listening to you but this silly thumping is painful. Please don't make your videos like this. You are a professional you do a good job presenting your work make the rest of the video match the quality you're putting in to it. That squeaky doll I can't express my irritation. Watch some of the professional car garage shows and pick a style of presentment that is interesting. I realize you need help to produce this. Honestly your girlfriend has not said or done one thing that makes this interesting. Not to hurt anyone's feelings don't advertise your show while doing this show. Let your skills make the program. OK get with it, clean this mess up. This is what is wrong, this is what we found, this is what we need to fix it, this is how you do it, this is why we did it this way, this are the new improved parts that are made available as replacements if this applies, how long the fix lasts how often does it need to be done, what not to do. Just watched a video on a BMW transfer case repair the guy broke an ease out into the case after he broke the bolt off in the case wrong tools instead of buying a few tools he used the wrong wrenches sockets back asswards application and talking making excuses for while the work was poor. Not fun to watch. Thank you for efforts you have the talent. Take care.
