Joao Belo racing solo KOMs is one thing. A face to face race between Lionel and Phil would be easily Phil. Phil knows cycling racing strategy and when/not to turn on the boosters.

@SEAL CYCLE Phil training 100% everyday. Well not as much as Lionel but Phil is training a lot. And as far as the extra muscle, it's his swimming muscle that is holding him back, compared to Phil. All his other muscles are the reason he is so fast! And his swimming muscles are much needed, he's a triathlete after all. I like that the muscle man was able to out climb the skinny guy, it gives me hope. But I think this climb is a the shallow side right? 5%maybe? So there might be a benefit of getting low which takes mass (muscle mass) to do so. So perhaps on a 10% climb, Phil would take him?

The KOM has always (since 1970) been considered Palisades ranger station, because the significant downhill section after that. Back in the day we would start from Tanque Verde. I believe the record from there was 1:43 set by Tim Wilson a serious badass racer.

Normally it is difficult to know how steep a climb is when you see people climbing on video. Because I’ve now watched enough of Lionel on video crushing a mad cadence on the flats, seeing him pump up some of those climbs at sub 75 really drives home the difficulty in some parts. Great video.
Yes, climbing Mt. Lemmon should be all the way to the top (or as far up as legally allowed). You don’t see people claiming to have climbed Everest and only making it to Hillary’s step. There is “a Mt. Lemmon hill climb” and then there is “THE Mt. Lemmon Hill climb”. Sanders is “King of THE”.
“Are you calling people out now”?--yes, he is, but not in a jerk type of way. He’s throwing it down in most respectful way possible. A humble type of call out......

Just rode up Mt Lemon last week. You now can go past the gate at the ski lodge. 1.5 mile is a hard climb. Then you come to a second locked gate. The UofA has telescopes in that locked up area. Differance is I took over 6 hours to get to top, I dilly-Dallyed along the way. Rode from my house mid-town. 85 mile round trip.

You got the power for sure. I think the speed is high enough some little changes to aerodynamics could make big difference - Phil did it in skin suit, I'd do the same, plus if watch his video on flatter parts he was almost in tt position with forearms resting on the tops (not fully upright on them). Over 90 minutes could make big difference.

      He is a runner foremost...
I believe running has a lot more exertion and body taxation so if had that as a foundation growing up his heart size prolly grew accordingly
The guys heart is prolly super big (physically) as well as super strong and healthy... and so having that running down as a foundation once he became super saiyan on the road bike and train/race with the two including some swim the man is truly in shape mentally physically... the man knows how to push hard and suffer
      ... all that said
dang I just am in 1 mins in when they started the ride when I wanted to look up phil gaimon comment
cuz gaimon is a viscous world class cyclist who has so so many KOMS
I watched like 10 of his retired cyclist vids and where he goes to different cities and places and rides with some guys and does KOMs
I saw the vegan cyclist one that is what got me into phil gaimon

Just wondering if you either moved the saddle back a fraction or changed stem length to slightly longer version, that might both open the chest area & increase aero position ( rather than the slightly hunched position) would that increase your efficiency and therefore speed and power/watts ??? And get the all the records?😀
