I really enjoyed this video! I have a harder time lately watching gameplay because of, life. But I get totally immersed in the podcast ones !
Particularly appreciated that you all tried to keep the conversation lively and didn't rely too much on well known facts or inside jokes in this one. Good for a long time fan to hear!
Congrats on a successful seeker week

On level with the fantastic video on the History of the Guardian class. Clearly, tons of work went into making this one--much appreciated!

2 big issues with Seekers (and these have been there from the start) -
1 - they get action efficiency through both clue gathering & movement (movement action efficiency - from cards like Shortcut & Pathfinder - should have gone to Rogues to pair with evasion actions & the foot stat).
2 - they use "Science" as an excuse for using the book stat for every test (like Mystics can use brain stat for every test).
If Seekers only got action efficiency in picking up clues, and pretty much all they could use their book stat for was gaining clues, they wouldn't be anywhere near as powerful as they currently are.
And the fact they have the best deack searching & card draw abilities (so they can find the cards they need pretty easily) and it's clear that the foundations of the class were always going to be an issue.

For what it is worth I think Ursula can build a good and strong curse deck as a lot of the curse cards are relics like Rod of Carnamagos and Eye of Djinn which is a pretty potent combo and you can add jewel of aureolus which has always been decent but you guarantee now. Yeah it isn't a ton of cards but I do think it makes CUrsula cool and actually takes advantage of the relics that aren't in Seeker

The designers definitely undervalued what a clue was worth early in the design, and you can see the influence of that thinking. It's why the clue-dropper archetype could not take off the way it could without Research Notes.

i think they failed to recognize the important differrence between ways to 'engage' with the game vs ways to 'win' the game. in almost all circumstances, clues win you the scenarios. how you get them might change, but getting them in general is your win condition. it's the reason that healing isn't good, for example, because why would i spend an action, resources, and a card slot in my deck to UNDO something the game did when i could just win the game one action/phase sooner? clue gathering and the seeker class warp the game around their capabilities.

Cryptic Research *is* worth 4 EP. The card is crazy. Ancestral Recall is restricted in Vintage and this is a better card :D No need to abuse it, if your deck has good cards in it, Cryptic Research makes your deck significnatly stronger and smoother to play. That's not boring, at least certainky not to me.
