Thanks so much for this rundown! I'm a new player who has played through the core campaign a few times now as I collect Dunwich, of which I have the old format and three out of six of the mythos packs so far along with the main expansion. I mostly agree with your takes and am really grateful that you've made this vid right now as it's very timely for me! That said... I have to disagree about Seering Gaze! Maybe it's not S tier when comparing overall efficiency to other cards and especially in a full collection, but I feel it's a bit better than never leaving the binder when you only have half of Dunwich collected as I do. Playing true solo as Agnes Baker, it helped kill the bosses of scenarios 1 and 3 for me! It got me my first win against The Devourer Below along with some well-placed baseball bat swings and Agnes's retaliatory horror effect (for lack of anything else to call it). Mind you, this would not have been possible without my wife, who does not play, but whom I made pull the token for Seering Gaze for me during that last fateful attack, fully knowing that Lady Luck was going to do better than I would! Alas, she pulled the skull token, and I knew at that point that I was going to win ;)
New to Arkham and playing Dunwich Miskatonic Museum tonight with 2 others. This was very helpful and you’re entertaining. Keep it coming and thank you!
I would also argue that you should be able to swap in/out level 0 cards if you made a significant increase to your pool at some point during the campaign.
I wish they'd give an upgrade to Fire Extinguisher that was "Remove from the Game" (if not discard). Making you pay an XP for not even a guaranteed evade every time is so wild to me.
I've noticed an increasing number of players skipping dunwich/carcosa and going to more recent campaigns from innsmouth forward. I think those campaigns will make the most interesting videos if you go through all the campaigns like this. I always enjoy limited card pool discussion from all of you.
It's been a bit of an issue in the German playerbase over the last couple of months because both Carcosa and Dunwich were out of print in both the new and the old format. I generally advised people to buy Edge of the Earth, because as a campaign, while it is more complex than Dunwich and probably harder as well, I think it's a good difficulty for early players, and besides the slightly more complex deckbuilding of the characters themselves, the Investigator Expansion feels like a very good option for newcomers because of the multiclass cards that allow for more balanced deckbuilding.
I will die on the hill that you should be allowed to trade out level 0 cards if the entire table agrees that you aren't being silly about it. For many people who can't play Arkham regularly, doing a whole campaign might be a month or two of commitment and not being allowed to tinker your deck in that time if you think you could have more fun with different cards is just limiting fun fir no reason. So long as you have a reasonable reason for the substitution, its fine. Reasonable reasons to do so include: "I've only just considered this card, but I think it would go great with these other level zero cards I have" "I expanded my collection and now I have access to these cards I didn't have before" "I don't like the way my deck is playing, so I've retinkered it" "I decided this level 0 card isn't doing what I wanted it to, so I removed it." Reasons that are not ok: "I've added this upgraded card that would go really well with this level 0 card I otherwise wouldn't want" "This card would do really well in the next scenario in the campaign"
I mean yeah, hopefully most people play that way. Swapping cards out because you aren't having fun and not simply for scenario meta gaming should definitely be ok for free and outside rogue class. My friends let me rebuild my entire deck because it just wasn't working as expected, xp included but we are still working on our blind plays so we can't meta game scenarios yet. Playing an actual adaptable deck when you know what's coming is also interesting.
In the interest of fun I entirely agree, especially for new players/blind runs. Alternatively, you could just pretend Adaptable is a neutral card, or even level 0 neutral, limit 1 per deck. As an aside, it bothers me that core deck building permanents like Adaptable & Underworld Support are gated in Rogue when they are effects that I think everyone should have access to
I mean, I'll always support people playing in a way that provides the most fun for them. I personally find it more enjoyable to have to work around my investigators' flaws. Including my subpar deck building. I play Arkham more as an RPG. The deck I bring into the campaign represents who the character is, and any experience added represents who they become. That's why I really like Adaptable as a card. I think that my only real complaint is that it should have been a basic card. Rather then Rogue.

You're in for a ride! I hope your enjoy the game!!
Hope you enjoy the game! It's been fun playing with friends the past few years.
Awesome idea. I always wanted something like this.
I liked the bit where chat broke parrallel Justin with the fur coat 😂
Great idea, I think this will help new players a lot.

@@dragonhawk00 I definitely could jump around in the order I release the videos in this series.

Waiting similar discussion about EoTE
Wouldn't Ashcan Pete suck with Fire Axe? He will test at 2 unless he spends resources.
@@dalenesbitt Coupled with Dark Horse, Ashcan can put out good test numbers with Fire Axe.

I mean, you shouldn't need to die on that hill. You should just be able to house rule it...
@@camipco To be fair, there are many hills I'd die on for no reason more than defending other people's right to have fun :)
