I would also love to hear a little bit about how you figure out these songs. Is it mostly from watching live performances, or is it a lot of experimenting, when you recognize particular notes/chords/Andersonisms?
@@kneesturnedvelvet3725 I'll listen to that one. Not all that familiar with it. I've always learned stuff by ear so over the past 50 years I've honed that skill a bit. It really helps that the YT player has the gear icon in the lower right that lets you slow the speed without affecting the pitch. Over the years I've played in most of the common open, or altered, tunings so I kinda know what the chord voicings are and how they sound. Ian did like to borrow from himself. Personally, I like Cold Wind better, feels like more of a complete composition. Both great though.

@@snoozedoctor Another wonderful Ian Anderson composition! " To Old to Rock and Roll" album came out during freshman year in high school. Listened to "Bad Eyed" and "Salamander" over and over on my record player. 45 years later, Still sounds sweet to me. peace

It's almost identical. Ian wasn't shy about borrowing a musical phrase or lyric from one of his own songs.
