But no one has accepted that Ian Anderson is the best musician of the prog rock , the best flutist, and one of the best guitarist acoustics , he has nothing to envy to Steve Hackett, Steve Howe , and I would say he is better .
The great difference with Hackett and Howe is that both of them are only guitar players while Anderson is great on guitar but flute and harmonic virtous too, liricist, singer, composer and musical director of his band.
@@Thundergod-I'll disagree with that. When it comes to acoustic guitar you won't find anyone that really is better than ian. He's got his own unique style. And I don't know of anyone who sounds like him, or is better.
@@Thundergod- I didn't say electric guitar, because Martin Barre is better than Ian on electric guitar. I'm specifically saying acoustic guitar. Steve Hackett. Is really fantastic.I'm sorry I just missed him in concert a few days ago. I didn't know about it in time.Or I would have been there. But of course, it's always a matter of opinion. That's the way it is with everything.
i never heard this album!! the opening is almost exactly a copy of his guitar on, A Cold Wind to Valhalla from the Minstrel in the Gallery... thanks for posting!! i'll have to look for it!! :0
Thanks for sharing Phyllis really awesome Ian and his band are truly a gift oh and for thumbs down guy what happened did somebody steal your meds? Lol ; ) ..
In Detroit MI. The band Yes , 2:15 Led Z. Always received more aire play than Jethro T. Prog. Rock band due to the flute I suspect not as well accepted an up hill climb in America . Always thought this band was more famous let's say in Scotland with their folksy Scottish sound .
Just wondering how this tune became or was first to Cold Wind to Valhalla since the main melody is the same .....I know it was recorded around the same time as M.I.T.G. just curious what the connection was or witch came first !
@@enriquemachorromendoza4310 Metallica covering Tull was a spoof after they whined that Tull wouldn't have deserved the Hard Rock Grammy. That spoof video used Iron Maiden's cover version of Tull's Cross-Eyed Mary.
Ian Anderson is from another planet and brought us their best music as a gift.
Ian Anderson is a true musical and lyrical genius. One of the most talented people on the planet....🎼🎵🎶🎤🎸
Listen to "Thick as a Brick" all the way through. I agree. 🎼🎵🎶🎧👍
Thank the Lord i got to see this band 14 times, still can't understand WHY,their not in the Music Hall of Fame.
The hall does not deserve them. I was fortunate to meet Mr. Anderson after a show in 2003. I will never forget.
R&R HOF is a joke. I'am glad he's not in.
Jann Wenner is why. He hates Tull.
I’m 32 and seeing them for the first time next month. I am STOKED!!!!!!!!!
tells you all you need to know about the rrhof
Acoustic guitar playing cannot be any better than this! sheer excellence!!!!
Ironically, Anderson has said the reason he took up the flute was he was intimidated by the guitar playing of Hendrix and Clapton.
@@mb13972 Playing electric and acoustic guitar is not the same.
Remember when music was made like this? I do. Graduated HS when this came out. Breathtaking ❤️
I will always love Ian Anderson 💖💖💖
The man is ASTONISHING.
Happy man here, this very year ive seen Jethro Tull! Phenomenal band, still
Beautiful song It remains me good memories

Let's not get carried away. The two Steves are much more proficient on the guitar....

I'm a JT freak who thought he had seen it all, great images for a classic Tull track.

Cold wind to Valhalla has a similar start
Yeah for about the first 20 seconds, then it goes in a completely different direction.
I t does. Still amazing song both of them. Ian is a musicial genius
I remember kinda freaking out at the similarity when I first heard this, many years ago.
@@Fuzzybeanerizer yeah, the beginning of each song was very similar.
some close reworking of cold wind at the start but the acoustic guitar playing is as usual excellent and unmistakable as the extremely talented Mr A.
Nice track🎉🎉🦎
Always loved this song ❤
Absolute talent
Cold wind to Valhalla.
Wow , I got to see them 5 times , 2 of which were small shows , rubbing elbows 👍
I love the video where his wife ( the Black Satin Dancer) is dancing, godamn that woman was beautiful
Thanks for sharing Phyllis really awesome Ian and his band are truly a gift oh and for thumbs down guy what happened did somebody steal your meds? Lol ; ) ..
Too bad there was no live versions of this song.
I hear some roots of Minstrel in the gallery in that guitar playing.
These pics are from a performance on "The Mike Douglas Show". Wish there was a video which is presumably lost.
was wondering thx
Probably the best 👍🏻
Freaking awesome guitar
Love it
And ride with us young bonny lass. Oh wait.

Ther are no covers of Jethro Tull wonder why? One of the worlds greatest band ever
(Okey one Cross-eyed Mary by Iron Maiden).
Marc Almond has covered some songs
Martin Barre has a cover/tribute band.
Metallica
Because it is VERY difficult to play properly this particular music...
