I've carried mine just about everyday for the last year or so. Absolute tank of a light. Charge it every few weeks or so and have had no issues to date
I beat mine up at work 5 days a week. The high and low are really helpful for inspecting something up close without blinding yourself while still having enough throw to get around dark places.
I had this light for work for over two years while working nights I run a power plant and when things go wrong they go very wrong and you certainly need a good light it is not a bad light I just recently upgraded to a cloud defense and couldn't be happier
I bought one and carried it for maybe 2 weeks. I was carrying a surefire edc l1t prior, but liked the slightly smaller head of the streamlight plus the usb charging capability. I dropped it from about knee height onto a wood floor and it stopped working. The tailcap would click, but the light wouldn't turn on. I sent it back to streamlight for warranty work, and they sent me a new light at no cost. I did pay shipping. The only thing that bothered me about the customer service was that I couldn't get anyone to explain to me what was broken on my original unit. I suspect it was a faulty switch, as the stylus and microstream variations are kind of known for breaking switches, but I can't definitively say that was the issue. I've carried the replacement everyday for close to a year now with no issues, but I do keep my surefire edc l1t close just in case.
I’ve owned serval micro streams with good luck. I’ve had nothing but trouble with the one macro stream that I own though. The tail cap works whenever it feels like it and most of the time it doesn’t feel like it… These days I’m EDC’ing the Cloud Defensive Chicro and really liking it, but I do still carry the micro stream occasionally.
I use the rechargeable microstream zip tied to my long guns as weapon lights. It's fudd but they're light, low-bulk, affordable and they make decent brightness. These are way better for that, I just need to get the cash together to buy a bunch of them. Thanks Ivan!
I own 6 of these lights…do I have to say more…I keep theme everywhere, and if I can’t find one I buy another. It’s so handy, easily recharged, compact, but bright. I find the hat clip very handy especially since I wear a hat often. It’s also very waterproof. Good light, I have brighter lights, but always reach for the macro stream.
I modified a Thyrm switchback tail thing to fit my microstream, it works. But they should offer a model that fits this particular light, love mine and will probably buy more for family and friends as gifts.
Have been rocking mine since November last year. Broke the pocket clip 2 weeks ago and that sucks! Esp if you live in South Africa. But what a easy to use edc flash light. Love it 2x more than my Okluma DC0
I LOVE having high/low.. that said on a "tactical" type light I wish the low was onna separate switch mechanism.. maybe a "slide up and press down" switch somewhere else on the torch. It seems you always get the "wrong" setting with a single tailcap switch and even a quick blip of high wrecks your low light vision.
Easy. I have both. The surefire edc l1t has higher candela and will punch out further than the more floody beam of the macrostream. The surefire requires a cr123 battery and isn't rechargeable so that's added cost on top of the surefire price tag. The reliability imo is better than the streamlight only because I had my original macrostream switch fail after a short drop on a wood floor (knee height). Streamlight warranty sent me a new light at no cost, but I had to pay shipping to send the broken one in. The USB charging convenience can't be overstated. It's great. The output is awesome for edc and work, and can be used for defense in a pinch, but that's the surefire's niche. The surefire gas pedal switch is great, but takes a little getting used to. Based on how tight your tailcap is, the press for 5 lumens or max 500 is either easy to ND, or you'll accidently drop to 5 while trying to maintain the 500 full press. You can get constant on the surefire by twisting the tailcap. It'll go 5 lumens, then twist tighter and it'll go 500 constant. If it's a dedicated "tactical" light, I'd go surefire. If it's for edc tasks and convenience, the macrostream is money.
I've had the microstream in my pocket since 2021. I contacted streamlight because the rubber switch cap went missing and they just sent me one free. Nice. I charge it like once a week and use it all day.
Love the Macrostream USB. I just got a thrunite saber 659 off of Amazon for $11 and I really like it. The Macro feels better and more quality but the Saber uses a USB-C rechargeable battery and can run off of a standard AA in a pinch. The extra utility has had me carrying it since I got it over my Macro. Streamlight needs to be done with the micro USB already and move onto type C.
Great review! I just bought a second to have a extra. I use mine daily, not just carry but use. It has not stopped working and 80% of the paint is gone 😂😂
My Macrostream just completely died and I needed to send it in to Streamlight. I carried it everyday for over a year and really liked it, but wanted to give my data point on durability to anybody considering purchasing one.
Holy PWM batman! As is clearly visible in the video, the low mode is PWM controlled, which is annoying and about 10+ years behind the times. I even EDC the microstream, but in a larger light not using current control in 2023 is a silly decision.
You can find the MacroStream here: amzn.to/3qedH4m
Mine have been solid to date

Have had mine for at least a couple years and still going strong. And like yours it has passed the washing machine test MULTIPLE times

I carry the tan usb microstream. I use it everyday in my construction and remodeling job. Very reliable, small and very bright.
On this special day . Thank you for your service!!! Cool videos too.
Be carrying this light for 2 years or so I love it. If it's so much better than your pocket then the classic surefire lights do.

I've used a Microstream as my EDC for a year, and I have no complaints.
I’ve been using mine for 2 years. I carry it everyday and abuse it. Works greats. Would highly recommend.
If you slide the shroud forward while the light is on, it focuses the beam like a spotlight.
I just got it yesterday and looove it!

I’m buying this soon dude.. cool vids

How many do you have mounted per gun

That’s been my edc flashlight for about 2 years and it’s been great.

Both the Macrostream & Microstream USB also function while charging, overall great lights 👍

Would love a full comparison between this and the surefire edc series.

Nice watch too! What is it?
would you recommend this vs the Protac 2L-X.. also 500 lumens but looks more Tactical... perse

Mine stopped working out of nowhere, only had it a couple months.

“Lost” my first one. Just got another. I’m sure I’ll find the original but I’m ok with that as I’ll have a spare to keep in my car/bag
I love mine never had an issue
I wrap the tail caps of all my smaller lights with a couple revolutions of electrical tape, much easier on the teeth, and you won't freeze to it!
Mine lasted 2.5 years. I'll buy another.

Today Kit Badger shoots in front of a green screen.........or does he??!!

Looks like your using a green screen background in this video….
Wos
I carry macrostream everyday
It doesn't do justice when you point one at the target and one down at the ground in front of you duhhhh!!!!!
That is the spill... You're welcome.
