Hyrule Castle 8-BIT - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

  • An absurdly epic theme for an absurdly epic castle. 8-bit usually doesn't fit well with orchestra music, but I think this one came out pretty nicely. Enjoy!!
    -I use MidiTrail to make the video. It is a program that gives you a cool 3D view by loading a piano midi.
    -I use FL Studio with a plugin called NES VST, made by Matt Montag! You can check out his site here, you can even donate: www.mattmontag...
    -You can use my songs in your videos, as long as you put a link to my channel in the description. Also letting me know would be nice :)
    -This song is true 8-bit, and is faithful to the limits of the NES (except for maybe the audio quality.)
    -I don't really do request. Feel free to give suggestions in the comments though, you never know.
    -Critisism is appreciated. but keep in mind that the NES can only play a certain amount of notes at a time,
    so that's why almost no song can be recreated perfectly.
    -Enjoy!!

    I think this one came out so nicely because most of the Leitmotifs used in the original theme originated as 8-bit music in older Zelda games.

      It is such a weird hybrid throwing the Ballad of the Windfish into the intro, main tune of Gannondorf's Tower, the main theme they use for the series, and Zelda's Lullaby.

    • @pirategamer6630
      @pirategamer6630 4 роки тому +40

      @@AimlessSavant I personally think it represents something or even things to come. Ganon's tower signifies the evil in place, Zelda's Lullaby signifies how she is trying to fight and stop Ganon from escaping, resulting in the descruction of the entire world, and the main theme is signifying bith Link's bravery and courage for coming - with originally nothing - to fight off the beast that is Ganon. And Ballad of the Windfish signifies how Link is awakening - this is no mere dream. This is the final showdown. The whole song seems to show this though.

      @@AimlessSavant You mean Agahnim's Theme, which is Ganon's Theme in reality. Don't forget, that song along with Zelda's Lullaby, originated in ALttP.

    Definitely my favorite track from the game. Most of the music in this game is for ambiance, and it really surprised me to hear such epic music out of nowhere the moment I got near the castle (I actually didn't expect it to be a dungeon, at least not the outside of it).
    If anything, this track gives me Hideout Helm vibes, which is about as great as it can get.

    • @katedp7825
      @katedp7825 2 роки тому +3

      Yeah, it makes the atmosphere feel heroic, tragic and making the castle feel so big and grand and this music hides two songs (well the songs I recognize) Zelda's lullaby and the main theme of the series and it makes so much sense because the main theme of the series is basically Link's theme and Zelda's lullaby is her theme so it makes sense because Link and Zelda are fighting Ganon. So it's a genius theme for the castle.

    Just some thoughts from someone who's been watching your vids for a while.
    I really liked the 8bit art you used to use, seems waste to have them just on the thumbnail.
    I also know you like this display thing. Just wondering if theres any way to combine these visuals with the thumbnail art?
    I think using the same display for each vid makes them a little less distinct.

    Seriously though, this not only captures the music of the NES-era *perfectly*, but being the new Hyrule Castle music, embodies the feeling of all the hard work and effort put into getting to the 8th dungeon in Zelda and Thunderbird's Castle in Zelda 2(a *much* harder feat).
    This is perfection.

I don't know how to describe it, but it gave me the sense that exploring the castle was the beginning of the end of the game. It also caused a LOT of unease. But I love it still, just for the experience that it gave me and how well it worked with the game atmosphere.

    Somehow, Hyrule castle was the most atmospheric place for me. The end of my journey, and I'm storming my way through, wiping out all of the enemies now that I have all 4 divine beasts and the power of the master sword is at it's most powerful form. All to that final battle with calamity Ganon. Note: Calamity Ganon is really intimidating, but such an anticlimactic ending.
    Breath of the wild is without a doubt always going to be remembered, because it was the series's turn back towards open-world

    Just occurred that this song begins with a mix between a march and a magma caverns ruins motif to establish its feeling of "the final ride". Deep, mysterious, ancient, foreboding and ruinous.
    I need to keep that in mind for my own music.

    * The shadow of Hyrule Castle hangs over you.
    * The malice of the Calamity oozes from every crack and crevice.
    * The monsters and machinery stand between you and your opponent.
    * Between you and the princess.
    * Between Light and Darkness.
    * As you step into the final gauntlet, you are filled with courage.
    I'm gonna make so many people mad with this. XD

    Awesome! I was hoping the second half would play the interior Zelda's Lullaby theme but I guess you wanted to stick to just one version.

    I have absolutely fallen in love with your 8-bit versions of BotW music. I could easily imagine these being part of an actual 8-bit game. Absolutely amazing work on these!

    Wow I'm late to this, but I just want to mention how cool of a detail it is that the red/green/blue/yellow are so thematically fitting :)
    The more, imo, hopeful sounding part had green and blue :)

    Other Hyrule castles I've traversed couldn't capture that same feeling of the world on your shoulders as this game has. The sheer ruin of this castle is also unparalleled.

    I could be misremembering, but I'm almost certain there's a bit of Zelda's Lullaby in there somewhere, though it may be only when you're in the interior areas.

      It also plays outside, although very faintly. I couldn't really include it in my rendition though, because of NES limitations. Doesn't matter too much fortunately, because you can hardly hear it in the outside version.

    This is amazing. I don't even know what my 6 year old mind would have done if I heard this the first time I ever fired up an NES, or a few years later firing up a Game Boy. It sounds so good in 8 bit.
