It is exciting to see your root cellar restored. We have a root cellar in our 1810 farm house. We want to restore it but it floods when we get heavy rain. We are a little nervous to dig up the floor to put in a sump pump. Have you come across any research that may address this type of issue? Finding information on this has been difficult! Any clues on where you have found information would be so appreciated!
Congratulations on solving that conundrum. I like the rustic wood sheathing. A good idea to hang herbs/dried flowers on it.

Will the radon have any kind of affect on the food stored in the cellar? Considering it's stored long term.
We didn't store anything down there while the levels were high. Now the levels will be low enough that we won't need to be concerned, although articles we read indicated that it wouldn't affect the food.

No, the research we've done shows it doesn't affect the food. If we run the ventilation on a regular basis, the levels should stay low enough that we won't have to worry about it.
