Its called natrocarbonatite lava. It has the consistency of oil and the temperature is around 1000 degrees F. It is the only volcano in the world that erupts this type of "black" lava.
I like those high pressure lava and gas jets. From What I read that vent was called Lion's Roar because of the amount of lava and the intense high pressure gas venting out

You got the temperature wrong
It’s actually 500 Degrees Fahrenheit
@@yoshigaming33thebestgamerv32 The lava is about 500°C or 932°F About the same temperature as molten aluminum.

Thank you for posting this and be very careful of those aerosols. Excellent shots.
Why is the lava black? Also awesome video!
Natrocarbonatite lava. Its about 500 degrees Celsius. Its the only volcano in the world that erupts this type of lava.
Not sure if the cooled lava is soluble in water...
Actually natrocarbonatite lava absorbs water. I left a piece out and there were water droplets all over. It absorbs it and turns it into white powder.
@@volcanoimage Seems like Calcium Carbide, when hydrated it releases acetylene and a lot of lime.
@@HanzelikR This is more likely to be Sodium Carbide, if the lava is Natrocarbonatite. Na = Natrium = Sodium
@@RWBHere Natrocarbonatite contains abundant sodium, potassium, and potassium carbonate, rather than carbide.
Notice how the pressure is related to the wind gusting? Energy from the sun I presume.
The 'wind gusting' is the sound of the vent.
Ok effusive vs explosive
Ol Doniyo Lengai Volcani black lava
Yes it is black colored during the day and glows red at night.
not a mud bath to be in.
It's not mud. This type of lava called natrocarbonotite is around 1000 deg F (550C)
