Destiny 2 OOB: Enter the Thunderdome

- Well, this one took a while. We managed to break into the Thunderdome in D2. Hilariously, you can literally just drop down into it in D1. The D2 method takes a bit of work...
Many people contributed to this route, between holding zones, indicating targets, stasis shenanigans, route planning, a high stakes 5 man Totem encounter, and more.
Here's a list of some of them. Let me know if I accidentally left anyone out... I'm sure I'm duplicating a few with alt names XD

As you can probably guess, this is the most involved glitch I've done. It took somewhere in the double digits of hours to figure out everything, with many hurdles we had no way to even see until we hit them. Hopefully this guide will help you past them, if you're crazy enough to try it yourself...

Not going to lie, in the best way possible, this was really nice to fall asleep to. So relaxing
:)
Isn't that the world's grave orb we found on the moon in D1, oryx took it back during the story mission, I'm sure it was a setpiece when exploring the Dreadnaught.
Wouldn't surprise me either considering there's random assets still floating oob at spawn where the free roam exits used to be.
Jumping down as you follow your teammates' grenades is probably the coolest strat in any videogame I've seen.
Edit: Saw the orb immediately upon loading the loadzone in a 3D viewer.
They're all scattered around out of box Basilica.
I've heard about this from Skyshock a few times, so it's cool to see you guys finally got it done!
27:16 fascinated to know what the globe like object is and why the dirt mud is out there.
28:13 oryx is an imposter confirmed by OOB lore 2023
The mud would generally be a carry over from some other zone in the D1 Dreadnought, which is what I'd expect of the other object, but none of the D1 vets seem to recognize it. At least not entirely.
@@Froggy618157725 same with the globe traveler like object as well i’m going to assume..? regardless, great video as always :D
@@yhelloh It doesn't seem to exactly match anything, though it might be an updated version of something? I don't have enough of the context to guess.
@@Froggy618157725 The orb is indeed from D1.
I'll send you a clip on twitter of me looking at it from a distance.
Didn't have a great sniper on but you can make out the stuff around it and the light stuff coming up from underneath.
Was very nice to see it fully!
Great video Froggy 👏😃
@@Froggy618157725 kinda seems like the globe was an earlier version of the "Planets" puzzle in RoN. idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Mesmerizing. Although I'm not an explorer and just a regular D2 fan, I'm glad I'm a part of the community that can see how awesome this is :D
The Bungie games in general have always been pretty great for exploration :)
been waiting on this one since you and the rest of the raid secrets discord figured this one out, good job as always froggy
It was such a collaborative effort. Good times :)
So happy to have helped with the touch!!!
Awesome vid as always!! For the part where you have to move fast to beat the door spawn, I recommend using burst glide instead of balanced glide, since it carries your momentum much better.
I actually had swapped to it. I'm just really bad at the timing XD
Not sure which clip I ended up using, but either way, my use of burst wasn't much better.
I can't get the timing for it either. I wish I could zoom like other Warlocks. :(
@@Froggy618157725 burst glide on your way downwards from your regular jump. You should get the ever so slightest boost in forward & downward momentum briefly. Adjust timing for unlevel ground as needed
When using eager edge, if you swap to another weapon right after you swing your sword it won't kill your momentum. Chain it with busrt/icarus for more speed.
hi toothchipper
Froggy you are not a mad lad. You are quite literally INSANE.
Ha! What a twist. Also I'm fairly certain that strange relic isn't there in d1, but also I have not explored much oob there
WOAH! It's here! This was seriously a lot of fun to do and I learned a lot from you so thanks for that. Either way, I'm still surprised you managed to make it there. It sucks that my wifi cut out on the final attempt, but eh.
I don't know if I'll ever bother making a minimap for a video again. So much work XD
I'm just glad we managed to make it in the end. So much work, but worth it for the pay off of discovering it could have been so much easier ;)
@@Froggy618157725 Looks great, although I can 100% see the reason why you wouldn't do it again. I would've used a screenshot of the map used for the Dreadnaught in D1 and modified it a bit.
36:46 surprised Froggy, the cutest Froggy uwu
Just finished this video and it's 5:30am... worth it
Recorded this awhile ago didn't ya, I see those captains coins 😂
Indeed. Sadly didn't have time to get all that editing done before the new season madness XD
Awesome video, great job to everyone. I wonder what that circle thing was though..
this is beautiful
Was hoping to see you in it for as long as you could be throughout the Oryx fight!
That might be possible, but it would involve also running the full raid. You'd set your point, then you'd have to have a non-joining allies autorez to put you out there before Oryx. Sisters might ruin that possibility, but it depends on a whole lot of things we haven't tested for yet. Maybe someone will give that a go...
@@Froggy618157725 Oh I mean I'm aware it's a ridiculous ask, I thought I should add an "if possible to not get pulled", but I knew you'd know it anyhow. Moreso.. just imagining what would happen. Thank you anyways, this whole video was cool!
Still love the vids, even if I don't play anymore. Seems like a cool oob!
Congrats!
Good work!
We love kf
When you fail so badly at hitting a target. You fail successfully.
Love this
Truly a revvy thing to say
There should be OOB loot. Like with that sphere or the old Leviathan
oob loot is fun to say
The Raids and Dungeons sort of give us that with bonus/secret chests. And the occasional planetary material spawning out of map ;)
@@Froggy618157725 I'm yet to find Planetary Mats, but Its been fun going oob in Spire to get the secret chests for sure.
Can just imagine if oobing had a triumph, the title would just be a string of random characters
@@Froggy618157725 did anyone ever get to that chest you can see from the hallway in Scourge? I assume it was supposed to be the final chest but it's in the previous area. Iirc some folks got into the room by thundercrashing through a small gap, but the chest itself was surrounded by barriers on all sides for many meters.
Besides the larger area to work with, now that you know about the invisible floor, are there other parts of the route that can be simplified or made easier?
Instead of targeting an insanely precise region on the thunderdome, you can just mark the top and bottom, and then get a similar height like a thunderdome length away or so. Instead of trying to land on a dime, you're landing on a football field.
Other than that, there's mostly pruning down how much z climbing is needed. With a funky launch, you might be able to cut out a lot of it. I'm not adventurous enough to try a skate there. There's also a possibility that there's some path to fly into the lower Golgoroth section directly, which would open up using a Titan. I tried a few times, but every way I tried I hit a death barrier.
It'd be super convenient if we could IRB directly into Threshold without needing a double IRB, but we never managed to find anywhere that would work. We also checked if the invisible floor extended to somewhere that you could directly set a rez on without needing the first IRB, but it was just a little bit short of being useful. Should make the second one a lot easier though.
Finally he did it
The relief in my voice when we hit the last autorez...
Super well made guide on a very complex route, and a really relaxing listen, great job! Does anyone know the name of the song used at 27:11?
Traveler's Promise (reprise), on the Taken King soundtrack. Also shows up in Queen's Court in D2.
32:28 “Let’s go that’s class! Haha…”
32:32“😐”
FINALLYYY!!!
It was pretty nice getting to enjoy all those fancy areas way out of box for myself XD
Hey I’m looking to get into OOB and I was wondering if there were any things you recommend for a first time. Most I’ve done is scarlet keep in patrol, couldn’t get up the elevator though.
I have a glitch guide series that goes over quite a lot of what you'd want to learn. Some things have changed a bit over time, but most of it should still be useful.
Froggy's Glitch Guide: ua-cam.com/play/PL-Jm0PO8OYJSd2eDrxkH9CQvEykrwnv5C.html
A lot of lost sectors are fairly easy to get out of. And moving around out of map in Nessus is always fun, especially the Orrery lost sector. Climbing to the top without abilities was pretty interesting. Out of map in Well of flame, or even just climbing the inside is also pretty neat.
do you have a guide on how to get to the huge mountain in smidur’s cavern out of box on edz?
I haven't made one. I've explored around Volundr, and went there back with Quantum Finisher I think, but I guess I didn't make a video. You can't summon in Smidur's, right? In that case you'd probably want to hit the load out of map, and then set up a syncbox or balance box. From there you'd need to infinite sparrow fly to reach it. IRB could get you there too, but we don't have a good private zone autorez, so you'd only get 30 seconds.
14:20
What are the chess pieces and what do they do (and why are they fun to discover)?
They're in almost every new zone, so it's kinda like a Where's Waldo sort of deal. They can be well hidden sometimes. We believe they're just a lighting reference or something like that.
Nice
That's sweet I want to get into this for some reason way more than speedeunning or low manning
Getting here may actually be easier now with Strand on Hunter :D
@Froggy618157725 I started to go to galaxy pools but looks like I have to learn to sparrow fly ...I know u can do it with grapple but sparrow flying is a classic my micro mini probably isn't the best choice tho lol
One of many God glitchers is Froggy
What in the absolute fuck of mount-everest-climb-esque out of bounds was that
And to think, this climb was much shorter than the original plan XD
Love fighting dark souls boss Oryx lol
i would LOVE to see people speedrun this.
I wonder if it can be done faster than just doing the raid until Oryx. Probably, since you could be doing the encounter during the other setup, although you lose time to the first IRB, you gain by not doing any encounter after totems.
@@Froggy618157725 yeah. especially with the potential use of skating and such, it could be done insanely fast.
In destiny one of you ever got to 31:00 by going through the top of the door, if you go to the climb but go under the map u could hit a load into the bubble, u had to stay up and make it to the middle of the climb room from underneath and since destiny copy n pasted alot I'm betting it still works
A decent amount of oob stuff changed from D1 to D2. I think in D1 Thunderdome was pretty easy to reach, and pretty close. The Totems to Golgoroth path was also super easy in D1. You could just drop in a corner. For some reason that's no longer possible in D2.
@@Froggy618157725 true 🤔 cause u also could get out at totems and now u can't, there was like literally jump up and alr out of map spot 🤣
24:56 you got a message
Hey Froggy, I am also highly invested in the exploration beyond accessible map zones - I'd like to meet sometime in-game if you'd be down for that
I've got quite a lot of spots that I've found that seemingly haven't been discovered yet, at least not by enough people to get patched yet
Wide-open spaces
I know (for example) a place on europa where you make a couple turns and then all of a sudden You are on a building that is being carried through the clouds by a massive ship, along with many skyscrapers which you can easily traverse throughout
Lmk if you'd like to meet up in game, I'm flexible on time
Probably easiest to find me on the Raidsecrets discord. I'm generally around evening Pacific Time
with strand-flying the stasis climb is probably a lot easier.
Indeed. Hunter is probably now the way to do this XD
I know what I’m doing this week
Good luck! And let me know how it goes XD
No clue how challenging it'll be with the Z Climbing Nerf. Though it may be possible to work around that...
goddamn how do people find this?
Banging your head against the wall until the wall breaks ;)
Lots of testing, lots of exploring, and pushing the tools the game gives us to their limits.
You Can Blink Through Barriers?!
You can blink through some loadzone too ;)
Sussy Dirt
This man holding people hostage with over exaggerated slow speaking. Bruh we wanna know but we’d like our brains to not be exploited to hang on your every word
