  • Our buddy Moose, who you'll be familiar with if you've been following our Celica build, has a rather tasty Euro Spec E36 BMW M3 that he wants to track prep, so we start the process with a stock baseline test at Toronto Motorsports Park and then begin a brake system upgrade package that includes MSport rotors and custom made brake lines. Watch as JP from MSport shows us exactly how to build custom lines. Pretty cool process!

    One thing I really appreciate from you guys is that you take the time to do a baseline. I'm constantly amazed how many UA-camrs seem to just bolt on a bunch of crap they picked up from Advance Auto or Pep Boy and assume that they're actually going to improve the car - and while they _may_ be right, they sure can't quantify the results. At least with your methodology, we can tell if those mods help at all...and if the cost and potential difficulty is actually worth what may only be a minimal improvement in performance. keep up the great work! :-)

    3:50 "proprietary zinc coating". Likely geomet/decromet. That stuff is the bomb and is on most automotive fasteners now.

    Moose looks like he would ride a hog, not drive a BMW M3. That being said, he's a badass. Car looks awesome, too.

    Hi Folks, just a thought my own UK spec E36 M3 evo has two piece brake discs/rotors out of the factory... they may be worth looking into, paired with a good set of pads?

    • @andrewd2911
      @andrewd2911 7 років тому

      The Two piece rotors are stupidly expensive, with little gains.

  • @RobertKohut
    @RobertKohut 7 років тому

    Nice, I think the lifted trucks could use these custom lines. Most kits require you to bend the hard line to fit it into and extension bracket which seems a bit "back yard" to me.

    did you guys just do the 2 different once because i always get 6 lines for the m3 and there are 3 different lines.. not trying to be annoying just a little concerned.

    • @andrewd2911
      @andrewd2911 7 років тому

      They did the Rear 4 lines, The Fronts were done separately to match the callipers

  • @GrahamBartle
    @GrahamBartle 7 років тому +1

    Ok WTF was that? Are steel braided lines hard to come by for an m3? I get it for custom work or for tractors but there is no way that that was the most cost effective solution for that application.

      124 bucks for a set from turner motorsports. Plus can you put on a turner motorsports sticker if you buy them.

    • @andrewd2911

      it is not case of needing custom brake lines in this case, but HOW brake lines are made and that customs are available should you want/need them

    Before I even watch this I can tell you e36 m3 brakes can barely do 2 fast stops without fading.
    Brakes is definately the first thing to go for when upgrading.

    • @271production
      @271production 7 років тому +1

      yep. Brakes and tires first, then suspension and then maybe power.

      Dirt4k mine was an e36 m3 3.2 evo and I would consider the standard brakes dangerously under spec for the power of the car.

    • @alycestapleton
      @alycestapleton 7 років тому

      Dora the explorer bullshit the stock brakes aren't bad just change the brake fluid and rotors /pads then it will work just fine

    That hose is not CERTIFIED, as it has not been tested by D.O.T.. It is however COMPLIANT.

    • @spamcatchington1771
      @spamcatchington1771 7 років тому +12

      pyrobooby smith you think the DOT tests individual hoses? They set the standards which manufacturers are obligated to abide by. That's what gets you dot certification.
      If the hose is DOT rated, and the fittings are DOT rated, and the procedure to test the finished hose is to DOT spec.........

    • @pyroboobysmith359
      @pyroboobysmith359 7 років тому

      Jackie N, If the company is in fact certified, getting certification is very expensive because D.O.T. will not certify anything it has not tested to be certifiable.

    • @xenonram
      @xenonram 7 років тому

      Being "tested" buy the DOT doesn't make it certified or compliant. As the DOT doesn't test anything.

    • @pyroboobysmith359
      @pyroboobysmith359 7 років тому

      That is true but they do oversee the testing.www.tc.gc.ca/eng/motorvehiclesafety/tp-tp12957-menu-173.htm#certif
