Everyone in this space, as I'm noticing, talks in extremes. The notion of "everything in moderation" is poo-pooed. I find, however, that works best for me, as long as my food choices are whole foods and calorie consumption is balanced with my physical activity. What makes us unhealthy is too much stress, to be sure, but also toxic chemicals in our food supply and in our environment overall these days.
I have read in several places that Gelatin is less bioavailable than collagen, by almost half. Also read that Powdered collagen is the most bioavailable form, vs from meat, but I want to learn why.
Collagen hydrolysate powder is basically pre-digested. Proteins are chains of many different amino acids. The chains in collagen hydrolysate are already cut shorter via hydrolysation and therefore easier digested. You can compare it to eating complex carbohydrates or eating sugar.

This is completely different than anything I've ever heard. I have so many questions. To the example of sumo wrestlers being metabolically healthy despite being obese, why is their lifespan so much shorter than the average Japanese male?
Inflammation and cardiovascular diseases kills them, you can read about it on the medical open archive of Japan’s healthcare ministry..l they are of course not healthy!
If you're fat and have high cortisol, "a little bit of cortisol" won't do the body any good, because it's already over done. Fix the diet, environment and lifestyle, even minimal "exercise" will cause issues.

Listening to Georgi is like drinking from a firehose. I'm still curious about those who seem to be doing really well on a carnivore diet long term. Also would be great to get Brad marshall and Georgi together.
Yea I would love for Brad to dig into the Ray Peat stuff. Brad hasn't talked much about fructose yet. I think combining their principles and findings could bring us much further. If we look at hunter-gatherer tribes like the Hadza or the ones that Weston Price studied, we can see that they highly valued fructose, animal fat (saturated) and organs. So I think those are essential for good health.
Thanks for this talk! So many amazing insights from Georgi Dinkov! But I must mention that his definition of 'autophagy' is not correct and too broad, which is actually fine. But real autophagy is happening inside the cells and it's hard to measure. I heard he was telling about some 'easy available autophagy rate test' which is not a thing. Maybe he meant something else.

I have been carnivore for over 2 years I need help understanding which carbohydrates are safe to eat generally speaking. I am doing carrot salad and ripe fruits. What carbs do you recommend eating with protein?
He is wrong about the walking burning the same calories lol. Because he’s not taking into account the vertical distance and gravity whixh adds to the calorie burn every time you jump up and down. Several universities have found that running burns almost double depending on the weight of the person
Wow, the part about oxidizing protein and too much protein being harmful for kidneys reminded me of Shawn baker when he went on his weird low calorie carnivore diet variant and he lost like 50 pounds just eating lean fish and steak… man, idk what’s gonna happen to that guy. Who works out like crazy, putting so much demand on his body.
This is so confusing!😭 I’ve been trying so hard to stay away from sugar and simple carbs like rice and to explain and to teach my family to do the same cause I’m asian and a lot of my family members are overweight, having heart disease and diabetic. Trying to teach them about keto and fasting. But now??? 1. It’s confusing when he stated that not ALL fat people are unhealthy. This is exactly the same narrative that the fat acceptance community been saying which you know is bs (on their part I mean) 2. So how do you get fat or even obese? I know he said it’s endocrine problems so that means there’s no way there is a healthy fat person right?!? 3. And then he kept saying that sugar is okay even mentioning the test with obese people being fed rice and sugar and they lost weight and the other test that proven that coca cola is okay(sounds suspicious seems like the test was being done by the company itself) BUT saying that it’s not a good idea if you overweight and have endocrine problems to ADD sugar on top of your diet. What??
My Filipino wife's family in the Philippines has rice the time over there and they and everybody over there are not often obese. Just beware of over consuming fats and saturated fat and prioritize whole food based calories where the nutrients are still intact. Low carb is a western ideology and predominantly is practiced in the fattest large country in the world.
Omg everything he says is total opposite of what the low carb / carnivore people say … I stay so confused about what to eat … been doin keto for years off and on 🤷♀️
Slow Carb, Slow Fat FTW - whole plant food carbs and whole plant food fats both with fiber, helping the body fully assimilate the nutrients without overwhelming its metabolic systems and pathways.
I need help. I have mast cell and can only eat meat. I’m carnivore but have gained 50 pounds, developed type 2 diabetes, and am severely hypothyroid. I want to eat carbs again bad but keep getting told not to because it feeds a bad gut microbiome. Every time I introduce carbs I have severe high heart rate 140-210 bpm and gain 20-30 pounds. What the hell do I do?
Medicine such as mifepristone and pasireotide that are used for Cushing's syndrome are sometimes referred to as "cortisol blockers". Other things that lower cortisol include sucrose, nicotinamide (vitamin B3), glycine and probably other amino acids in gelatin, vitamins A and D, aspirin, cacao butter. Sorry for not including references.
Be careful of all these medicine he’s recommending, there are reports that lives ruined by his advice but he will not talk about that because he is a supplement salesman that may affect the sales, that I understand you have to adjust for business strategy.
25:00 ~ "Sumo wrestlers tend to consume a lot of saturated fats" ~ I would love to see studies behind this statistical claim. Once again, no personal nor "individual" bickering intended I am simply curious.
Just looked into their diet more - it seems like its meat & veggies in a soup with a lot of rice - so they aren't consuming PUFAs to a high degree. So their fatty acid profile in their tissues would then reflect this diet (have less stored PUFA)
Hi, can you address whether multiple mini meals is a good approach to eating? No big meals. Only little ones spaced by two hours. Maybe 4-5 a day. Thank you, if you know.
I think this is very person dependent - and depends on stress levels and gut health. I have found that at this stage of my life I do great with eating about 5 times a day. 3 meals and 2 snacks. Takes some experimentation where you can feel better and you see some Objective measures (like body temp and pulse, sleep, digestion, etc) improve.
Too much fasting , along with stress put my menstral out of wack , as a woman dont over do the fasting and we need all macro nutrients to feel healthy along with , good sleep , the right exercise, its getting the balance right that is challenging, in a fast paced society
Eliminate all fat, at least for a while, to clear it out of your insulin receptors so that the glucose can enter, instead of staying and circulating in the blood.
@@bastyo yeah that's what I figured, but he makes it sound like this little spoonful of a thing, not a big bowl of sludge to accompany the steak lol. I was hoping. Weird thing is I quite like gelatin just bloomed in some milk and eaten straight, but my guts HATE that, and they don't hate much.
I'd just use collagen hydrolysate powder, preferably from grass-fed cows. I drink 4 cups of milk daily with half a tablespoon (5 g) of collagen per cup. No gut issues. The problem with gelatin is that it can contain high amounts of endotoxin. There's usually a lot of pathogenic bacteria on the skin of animals raised in bad conditions, for example in pigstys. When those animals die, the bacteria also die and release endotoxin, which will then end up in the gelatin product. It could also be that the combination of milk and gelatin makes your stomach too alkaline, or in other words leads to low stomach acid. For example, both milk and gelatin/collagen/glycine can be used to protect the stomach against the acidity from high amounts of aspirin.
@@bastyo endotoxin in the gelatin and lead in the bone Broth, where are we to turn lol good tips, thanks. The hydrolysate is good, just pricey. I've had the Saturee CH before, which treated me well, it's just an expensive way to go, was trying to do it cheaper. I don't think it's acid. I get Collitis symptoms, which I have otherwise never had, and the skin on my hands and feet start to die and peel, it's super weird. It's the first time I've ever noticeably reacted to anything, interesting experience.

Roughly 1.10 The study about autophagy said that fructose and maltose "did not show the same effects" though. So I wonder why he said that sucrose, fructose, trehalose and maltose ALL induced autophagy?
"If you eat the same amount of calories, and all you do is increase sugar and then you gain weight, then it can't be the sugar's fault" I'm not saying gaining weight is the sugar's fault, but that line of reasoning makes no sense.
Glucose oxidation vs glycolysis. Sugar will be stressful if glycolysis is the main way it is metabolized, oxidation is beneficial (CO2). This is usually the distinction people leave out when they say carbs/sugar increases stress.
So I should add pure white sugar to my coffee in the morning everyday and I’ll be fine?? I call horse manured .. I actually do that every Winter to keep up with my holiday work schedule and I be gaining 20-25 lbs every yrs.. i would stop with the sugar in the spring thru out the rest of the years to loose the weight..
Then perhaps you can explain why every child on this planet is wired to crave sugars - something that is hardwired in our DNA in which glucose oxidation creates carbon dioxide which is life itself
He is right. Having some body fat is safety for the body. We come out as babies chunky. All centanerians have some weight on them. We come from chimpanzees who are not lean. The obsession of being so skinny is a cultural thing for looks. Not really health

So he said if you chronically reduce carbs then you increase cortisol and you gain weight? Yet thousands of people are using the keto diet to lose tons of weight. So I guess the cortisol effect has a much less effect than excess carbs.

Me too!! Kinda was a relief to learn about it cuz I was doing bad on low carb lol
Yeah, been on a low carb for 3 years, took me about 6 months before I dropped a pound...wasn't until I added in alternate day fasting that I lost all the weight....then when I stopped alternate day fasting (just eating one or two meals a day) the weight slowly creeped back....gained almost 25 of the 30 pounds lost back again
Thanks for hosting these videos. I come from more of a low carb background, but I find these alternative viewpoints very interesting and thought-provoking. Looking forward to the next istallment :)

@@bastyothanks ive been taking gelatin but i cant have much cuz it bloats and stops me up, hydrolysate sounds great

This is completely different than anything I've ever heard. I have so many questions.

Bill Gates promotes Burgermaster, his favorite burger in Seattle. The founder of Burgermaster has some connection with Microsoft. Burgermaster uses grass fed beef. So his promo of veg burgers is somewhat hypocritical.
Burgermaster is the best - old fashioned drive-in food. Now if they'd just switch back to tallow for the fries.
On the topic of potatoes... there is a book called the Potatoe Hack. Lots of research by the author. Lots of examples of people surviving and thriving on nothing but potatoes for a long time, voluntarily and not so in the case of prisoners.

I have been carnivore for over 2 years I need help understanding which carbohydrates are safe to eat generally speaking. I am doing carrot salad and ripe fruits. What carbs do you recommend eating with protein?
Sugar, cream in coffee -drink this after eating beef so it is hard for the body to absorb iron. I read this in Ray Peat’s writing.
Rice
Fruit is the best.

He is wrong about the walking burning the same calories lol. Because he’s not taking into account the vertical distance and gravity whixh adds to the calorie burn every time you jump up and down. Several universities have found that running burns almost double depending on the weight of the person

So did he say that obese people are that way because of a higher metabolism? In this case how would you fix it if they no longer wanted to be obese?
Wow, the part about oxidizing protein and too much protein being harmful for kidneys reminded me of Shawn baker when he went on his weird low calorie carnivore diet variant and he lost like 50 pounds just eating lean fish and steak… man, idk what’s gonna happen to that guy. Who works out like crazy, putting so much demand on his body.
1 year later hes looking and performing great, while paul saladino has seemed to age 10 years in a year
Not only that Shawn Baker broke another World Record for particular exercise reps. really amazing veteran of war and for his age.
This is exactly the same narrative that the fat acceptance community been saying which you know is bs (on their part I mean)
Omg everything he says is total opposite of what the low carb / carnivore people say … I stay so confused about what to eat … been doin keto for years off and on 🤷♀️
This man is a treasure.
Clealy the answer is yes. Look at G.
I wish he clearly communicated WHAT ARE “CORTISOL BLOCKERS”?!
Sugar is a good one :)

Be careful of all these medicine he’s recommending, there are reports that lives ruined by his advice but he will not talk about that because he is a supplement salesman that may affect the sales, that I understand you have to adjust for business strategy.
excellent information, learning much! thank you.
Great video!
Takes some experimentation where you can feel better and you see some
Objective measures (like body temp and pulse, sleep, digestion, etc) improve.

Br? kkk
I am diabetic. I have added sugar and eat a low fat diet...my fasting blood glucose has gone up...any suggestions?
Low carb, B1, D, and B3
Eliminate all fat, at least for a while, to clear it out of your insulin receptors so that the glucose can enter, instead of staying and circulating in the blood.
@Tanya Sydney where would your ancestors get this insane amount of sugar? You won't survive without fat for long
Yes...carnivore diet...
Can you quantify 'a spoon of gelatin'? Is that, a Tablespoon of bloomed, melted, and set gelatin, which will fill a large bowl, or some other amount?
When he says that he means about 10 g of powdered gelatin/collagen. A heaped tablespoon of the powder.
@@bastyo endotoxin in the gelatin and lead in the bone Broth, where are we to turn lol
good tips, thanks.
I thought he meant eating Jello.
What about Shawn Baker chugging kilos of muscle meat a day? I kind of feel he cheats on the low.

Roughly 1.10 The study about autophagy said that fructose and maltose "did not show the same effects" though. So I wonder why he said that sucrose, fructose, trehalose and maltose ALL induced autophagy?
"If you eat the same amount of calories, and all you do is increase sugar and then you gain weight, then it can't be the sugar's fault"
I'm not saying gaining weight is the sugar's fault, but that line of reasoning makes no sense.
Adding 1lbs of pure sugar is good for your health ? What ?
Have you tried it?
Yes, you add sugar and drink more sugars if you want to be overweight like Georgi Dinkov.
Love the mic upgrade
Weird how he says cortisol is the problem but my cortisol only goes down on a high fat diet
You've done blood work confirming that?
When did he ever say a moderate fat diet in saturated fats is bad?
Glucose oxidation vs glycolysis. Sugar will be stressful if glycolysis is the main way it is metabolized, oxidation is beneficial (CO2). This is usually the distinction people leave out when they say carbs/sugar increases stress.
@@alexartwork5302 so how do I avoid the bad one and do the good one? I love sugar

Plant proteins are incomplete I thought. Potato protein surely is not equal to animal protein 🤔
Hi strongsistas!! Where’s your video on EMF’s? Thank you! Maybe do an update?
If you can’t see sugar is more addictive than cocaine… anyone supporting sugar must be getting paid by the sugar industry…
Then perhaps you can explain why every child on this planet is wired to crave sugars - something that is hardwired in our DNA in which glucose oxidation creates carbon dioxide which is life itself
What about glycation? I've read that mixing sugar and fat as in ice cream causes glycation, and supposedly that ages you. Is this true?
This guy is good!
He is right. Having some body fat is safety for the body. We come out as babies chunky. All centanerians have some weight on them. We come from chimpanzees who are not lean. The obsession of being so skinny is a cultural thing for looks. Not really health
can you do collagen instead of gelatin ?

So he said if you chronically reduce carbs then you increase cortisol and you gain weight? Yet thousands of people are using the keto diet to lose tons of weight. So I guess the cortisol effect has a much less effect than excess carbs.
Honestly, listening closely to this interview corroborates my theory that a modified Whole Foods high carb low fat vegan+eggs+some dairy+no PUFA’s is the optimal diet--it checks every box: eliminates all the inflammatory animal proteins, contains plenty of vitamins and minerals and carbs, and keeps you young.
