On this channel, I share #slowfashion and #sustainablefashion tips that center around how to #shopyourcloset, and restyling pieces you already own. I also spotlight brands that I believe in every now and then. I believe in #creativityoverconsumption, and that we all have the power to be conscious consumers.
Slow fashion looks different for everyone, and I'm so grateful you share this space with me!

Thank you AGAIN for not selling me a handbag or a pair of shoes! Inspiration, self compassion, & creativity? Yes, please ❤
Amen!
Love it
This is what we needed. Every holiday season brings a lot of craziness and stress due to (over)consumption. Thank you Alyssa for highlighting what's truly important. ❤
This is the most positive thing I’ve watched on the subject of closets in a very long time. I really needed this right now.
Wow thank you I’m glad it resonated ❤
Love how you are in touch with yourself, with real life and still accepting of yourself and others. Thanks for educating us about ourselves.
I just cleaned out my deep freezer, found a roast at the bottom and put it in the slow cooker. Feeling grateful that I’m feeding four of us tonight with minimal expense. Isn’t it interesting how all of this is connected? I didn’t connect this to my clothes and closet until just now. I already have the skill set, just didn’t realize it. Wow! This helps me breathe. ❤
Honestly, the main reason I visit UA-cam nowadays is to watch your videos. You’ve really helped me curate a more succinct wardrobe that I am happy with, and made me feel more confident and self-assured as a result. Thank you.
Thank you so much xo
What makes your content so good is not only your talent and knowledge around fashion, but that your points are well thought out and presented. Thank you ❤
yes...agree!
This is such an important message, Alyssa. Thank you for sharing it with us. It is a timely reminder as we approach the silly season. I am absolutely loving your podcast with Signe and Christina. I find myself answering you guys out loud like I am a part of the conversation 😂
Apollo is such a big, handsome boy 😊
Love it, awareness and gratitude 🙏 style is also mindset. I've been purging due to a move, and its funny how there are mainstays that remain in my wardrobe i have had for years. Perspective is definitely an important value! Always insightful! 👌 👌
Alyssa, I love this for the wise wardrobe advice and even more for the discussion of the importance of values. Gratitude, Commitment, Awareness, Perspective and Patience... all important steps. Our wardrobe is a good place to start, then hopefully we'll be motivated to make other changes that will benefit others and ourselves. Thank you so much!
Love your kitty in the background 🐈⬛ thx for a great video
Patience is very diffcult for me, because when I see something beautiful I always want it - but with you Alyssa I will find my way with patience ❤
Love this. Practicing awareness and gratitude fills me up so that I’m not trying to fill that void with mindless shopping. It’s really done the job and for that, I’m so grateful. Love your videos, please keep sharing! ♥️
You are SO right about trends being something we’ve always been drawn to. That was an aha moment for me this fall. Thanks for helping me to curb my spending a bit and be more sustainableAnd for teaching me to dress in away thats true for me. Looking at purchases with my three words in mind, really helps. I can see the beauty in certain items, but they know that they will not work for me and walk away. Keep inspiring and teaching us. PS I am enjoying your new community
Gratitude back at you Alyssa...🌞thanks for a great part 2; part 1 was also full of valuable insights🤓
Really good and timely reminder. This time of the year, it can be hard to put a brake to wanting to spend. I like being reminded to slow down, in every aspect of life.
Love this! Slow fashion should feel more fulfilling than the instant gratification of fast fashion. I'm just getting out my last winter clothes, as the weather turns and I do feel I'm greeting old friends!
These videos are wonderful! I love that you don’t influence me in to buying more crap. You influence me into getting more creative with the clothes I already have. ❤
Gratitude changes everything. Thank you. Love seeing the world traveler, Apollo, in the video!
I just switched to the Tru Earth laundry strips and dishwasher tabs, and I am shook!!! I wish I had done that sooner! No more huge plastic jugs!!
Thank you! ❤️❤️This vlog reminded me of Charlie Brown Christmas special...when Linus reminds his little friends what Christmas is really about. And just when I already getting overwhelmed by all the X-mas ads...your vlog came at the perfect time!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Gorgeous as always, dear Alyssa. I have just come out of a difficult phase in my life and I am finding myself not liking the clothes I used to wear during that time. They remind me of my suffering, on the other hand I wish to act in terms of sustainability and am therefore finding myself in a dilemma-
Vinted! You could sell them and use the extra cash to purchase replacements that make you smile. Or, put your most negative items into storage and visit them at a later date when you may feel differently 😊
@@Nushka23 Great ideas! I would add doing a capsule wardrobe to get you through the next 3 months. Shop resale/thrift for items you don't mind being second hand and brand new for those items either you can't find thrifted or are not comfortable buying second hand. Packing things away is a great idea. I had a jacket that brought me bad memories so I took it to a consignment shop to sell.
I think you can replace clothes that you don't like or that bring up negative feelings without feeling guilty about doing so. Personally, I've never subscribed to the idea that I'm going to buy something to just wear once and never wear again... I buy clothes with the intention of wearing them and enjoying them for as long as possible, even if I happen to be buying from a fast fashion brand.
It's more about the mindset than where you're buying from, I think - although I can't recommend buying from the cheapest brands because of the (lack of) quality as well as the questionable ethics in the manufacture.
I think maybe you could replace one or two pieces - if you used to wear all black (just as an example), add in some colour - bright colours work well with black and make things look very different. Or style things in a different way. You don't have to chance everything all at once, especially if money is tight. You'll get there!
(Also, try charity shops/thrift store, or eBay. I've bought a lot of nice things on eBay since I started wanting to dress better - you can find lovely silk scarves for only a few pounds, for example.)
Good luck!!
Perhaps try creating new memories that you associate with these clothes by wearing them on occasions that you know you’ll enjoy yourself e.g. quality time with friends or doing things that you love. I have definitely found this helpful for some items I originally had negative associations with.
I would try a perspective shift to remove emotions from clothing, then go through them and see if they fit you and your criteria. It might help you later, as you recover, to not regret your clothing decisions.
The one about that trends can be classics to you made me smile. The opposite has been true to me as well. I have never liked light jeans and anything in ( shiny) black leather, both absolute classics. So when I liked a few items that fitted that brief I thought I finally started liking these classics, but no; it turned out to be a very brief liking on my part and I hated these items after a season or so.. so no matter how timeless, I will always avoid these
I love this content. It has brought me what I've needed to slow down and appreciate what I already have. Awareness, patience and gratitude are the key elements that I will embrace regarding my closet/wardrobe. Thank you, Alyssa.
Thank you for relating our core values to a very applicable subject....and showing people how they relate to daily living.... I've not seen this presented before and kudos to you girl.... good job ❤
Thank you Alyssa, you save me so much time, money, and sanity ❤
I´ll add those reminders to my wishlist! Thank you Alyssa!
I used to "stress shop". Now that I meditate daily I have found that I don't feel the need to buy something just because I'm having a bad day, or week. I have bee "shopping" my closet more and getting rid of a lot of what I should have never bought in the first place. Thank you for this video. I think it will help a lot of us rethink our shopping and buying.
I always look forwards to watching your videos, as I love the pace, the content (obviously) and I find more and more that the concepts I use for my wardrobe and what I wear, have impacted many other aspects of my life in a very positive way. Thank you :)
Can’t agree more with the patience aspect. About 6/7yrs ago I learned about the damages done by fashion production & I promised myself to be as mindful as possible when buying clothes (both newly-produced & secondhand). It’s been a journey but with patience & determination it turns out to be something I quite enjoy ☺️ also tell your cat I say pspspsps!
Always a pleasure. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Your videos are so inspiring to me! Thank you for the beautiful work you do and that you bring to the world! I love your style!😊
#1 cure for EVERYTHING is expressing gratitude (even miniscule amounts) every single morning. Life changes immediately and dramatically.
Love this video so much!! Totally hits home!❤
Love this! Words of wisdom as we enter this season of countless hauls and consumption. Truly appreciate you focusing on what's important and of value. 💗
❤Thank You so so much for these wise words! I have a few triggers -1 is even though I rarely purchase anything new, I can still over consume when I thrift! I think I need to save them all!😊 The 2nd big one is it's really really difficult for me to purge my closet, for the same reasons as I said before. I remind myself it's ok, it's a process & give myself Grace
I know this is not the point, but your couch is GORGEOUS! xx
Lol! I want to know where she got her pearl drop earrings 😅
@@tigrezz0852 Alyssa has collaborated with a fine jewellery brand for some years. And I believe that's the source of her pearl drop earrings. (They may even have manufactured her own design of 'Paper Clip' necklace some years back (?)) If you scroll through the videos on her channel, I think you should find it okay. From limited memory, the brand starts with a 'V.....' 😊
I have a free app to record gratitude daily, it’s so simple and sometimes I look back over it. X
I love your message. Thank you!
Good to see Apollo 😺
I love your sofa in your new space. Is there a brand/link?
This content is SO good!!! Thank you.💙
I just love this. You've expressed these points so well. Especially pertinent in today's world which is riven with war, famine & inequality. ❤
Wonderful stuff, Alyssa.
Love this!
❤❤❤❤.....so on point...thank you Alyssa....
Alyssa I take your points, thanks for another thought provoking, stimulating post.
It is off topic, but that white shirt is a work of art. I know it's Power of My People from here in Canada (yea)! Is it The Tailor?
You are looking great lately.
During the section on patience, I got to thinking about a specific issue that comes up for me that makes it hard to be patient.
It’s when a staple piece wears out. Most recently, this was my pair of black jeans which, after 5 years of wearing multiple times a week in the colder months, started to actually shred. So, then I really needed to replace them but I also wanted to make sure I got the right thing AND I shop almost exclusively second hand. The gap in my wardrobe was noticeable, and I’ve had this happen before with pieces that I build my wardrobe around that are just hard to find the exact right thing to fill in for them without a long wait. But I need clothes to wear! Any advice?
Omg, I follow you all three! 5:42 ❤ love all your videos about slow fashion
Thank you for this uplifting message , Alyssa! And girl, you look mighty sharp in that POMP botton down :)
Love this idea of the video😍
Very very interesting. Thank you 🎉
Excellent video ❤
Brilliant!
You are truly awesome. Thank you!
I heard some of this on the pod. Thanks for what you're sharing... so true abt gratitude!
Did you link the 1st video you mentioned? Am I missing it somewhere? Easy to find? Wld love to watch. TIA❤
You’re wonderful ❤
I just automatically click the 👍🏻 because I know that I will enjoy the content! I really enjoy this content. Thank you, Alyssa, for this thoughtful video content! ❤
Finally following you on LinkedIn now... ❤️
Thanks 😊 ❤
This was interesting I just found your channel and thus was interesting even though it was not related to just clothes and style.
Great inspiring video😊
❤ for the algorithm
❤❤❤

Question, if that shirt you are wearing is from Power of My People, could you tell me what "fit" you typically get?
This is my goal in life …
You make me want to get dressed again.
Hmmm....Gratitude sounds very similar to prayer
