About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. Our dream is that someday, we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.
Strong independent , a total bad ass if this is not Betty White there will not be any other Betty White calf!
Yes!
Betty White Calf!!! All white animals are considered harbingers of good things in many indigenous cultures, too.
Absolutely!!!
Has to be
Yessss
Definitely giving Betty White vibes! Also funny how the "white cows" are now "off-white cows" with the bright baby!
Lol
My mom always said that nothing is a purer white color than a very young calf.
I am so glad your wife got to help with a calf that was not sick. That must have been so hard for her. So happy things are looking up on your farm.
Yes! Thank you!
2 calves meet in the long grass.
Orange calf “HI! Pleasure to meet ya - my name is Betty!”
White calf “HI Betty! My name is Betty!”
Excited kick flips and nap.
And the dog sipping amniotic fluid and chewing up the placenta.... Just to gag. Yup good times! 👍🏻
They are expecting another calf?
I hope they get a Betty Boop!
Don’t pull calves by the head, push from behind - kind of herd them leaving the lead rope loose. Easier said than done I know 😂 You’ve got a wild one there and she is GORGEOUS!!
9:30 Good to see the two Charolais and Scottish Highland calves bonding after a whole winter of the white cattle staying separate.
So good to see Abby running to the pasture again! What a cute new calf!
I think so too!
Congratulations on the birth of the new baby white calf. She's so cute, and Betty White is the perfect name for her.
I think it’s a male..
@@PrettyKitty_210 No, he said she's a heifer.
@@PrettyKitty_210 He said it was a heifer.
@@SharonRepici Yeah it’s a girl.😜
Really surprised that her mom left her by herself in that field.
Usually, they are super protective and stick to them like glue. Betty White is gorgeous!
Glad you got them back together!
When I was watching Wyoming life, they often had cattle that after giving birth the mother is the place the babies someplace and forget them for a while.
@@Creative-Chaoskinda like fawns ig?
When mamma cows have their babies they will hide them for a few days before they bring them to the herd. At least that's what our cows do.
In Native American lore, a white buffalo is of special significance. I know she is a white calf (domestic calf) but I kind of felt was that same feeling about your white calf. Wonderful!
Bonnie Lasse..❤
After the loss of the 2 babies, this one is a pleasant surprise ...
Abby loves the cows...
She shure does enjoy the cows...... Afterbirth with amniotic fluid to wash it down then gag. 👍🏻
Just something for you to know (i don't know if you do) calfs will all lay down in one area for their naps and the moms will put one mom in charge of them for hours while they go and eat.... thats what was happening when you went back up and the calfs were all together ... so don't be concerned if you see calfs off layin down together.. its just what they are supposed to do. lol congratz on the new calf. Glad you see you got them out on pasture finally. I am thinking being in that muddy pen was part of your problem.. something may have gotten into the blood stream from their umbilical's. It's nice to see you stepping out of your comfort zone so much! We only learn by trying.
Such a cutie! Moments like this make the tough parts worth it. Farming is highs and lows and this is the best high. You can tell she is definitely a princess from her actions. ❤ ❤❤
It really is!
This just made me smile. After all the heartache of losing the 2, you gained an angel of a calf. Beautiful Betty White. Congratulations, she is so precious.
She's so pretty! 😍 Also, glad to see you back in such good spirits and in your happy place again.
Thank you!! 😊
I’ve been following you since the beginning, watching your herd on a beautiful green pasture , made me marvel at what you’ve accomplished. I love your farm! Thanks for sharing.
Wow, thank you
So so happy for you…Betty White is totally bad ass…I love how both you and Allison are totally a team trying to get Betty White back with her Mom…listen, this little girl is going places…look at the independence she has already only a few hours old…you go little Betty White
This is truly one of the most beautiful calves I've ever seen. Betty White is the perfect name.
Abby Puking, icing on the cake!! You put me in Nature and I like it!!
Always!
Ya kno... I have an iron stomach, but I didn't enjoy or appreciate it. I had literally sat to breakfast and had no warning. Not cool.
Hey Morgan! I know you probably already know this, but its always good to dip the umbilical cord stump in *IODINE"* to ward off any infection to the calf after Mom has cleaned them off & taken their first drink of Colostrum!😉👍❤
Oh my goodness... How precious! She's so cute 😭
In the dairy cow behavioural studies has shown that cows prefer to keep their calves away from rest of the herd for few days before introducing them back to herd. This because calves dont recognize their dam right away, but the dam does recognize its calf. Bonding time helps to calf to start recognizing its dam. In group pens dams might experience stress because calves do not bond with them and are "stolen" by other cows with high mothering instic (or more experience, multiparorous vs primiparous)
You do understand this man is clueless, right? SMH.
He might be, but I think he is able to learn new information and adjust management practices accordingly to avoid causing unneccesary social stress.
I really miss Maine and New Hampshire. This area of the country is just so beautiful. I live back in Washington state which is really pretty with the mountains but there is just something about these states that's so beautiful
I totally agree!
Beautiful! Welcome to the world, Betty White! You have a wonderful steward looking over you.
Love seeing your cows & calves out on your "fresh green grass"!! It's so beautiful, and has all the promise of summer!
Morgan: look into planting Sorghum Sudan grass in your backyard and pastures for some free and amazingly nutritious food for your cows 🐄 and your birds 🐓🦆🐥 too!! It grows extremely fast and can reach 6 ft tall within 6 weeks while regenerating the soil. It’s amazing and would save you so much money in feed!!
Congratulations! Your Cover of that particular song Was... Unique.😂And there are three things I can probably live without for the rest of my life: Back acne, unexpected medical bills, and a close-up of Abby Dog eating after birth and then gacking it back up. (In all honesty , it is little unexpected things like that that keep me coming back, And so emotionally invested in your farm .)
Thank you for sharing another wonderful day on your beautiful farm.
Do you think you might get some young steers for meat products?
Our pleasure!
He sadly lost his tow mail calfs 😢
Little Betty White, wild and free right from the start! 😂 so adorable!❤
Thanks for showing everything whether a sad day on the farm and such a joyous day as the one showing the newest calf, Betty White. As other comments already have mentioned this Betty White appears to be acting as independent, funny and quirky as her namesake.
So cute! I am surprised momma cow wasn’t concerned and following her/calling her.
Looks like Abbys got to shake off her winter and get her stamina back up on her cow check runs (I can totally relate to that)....So happy for another healthy baby on the farm...
I really appreciate how receptive you are and how willing you are to learn, Morgan. You make people who are new to these types of experiences realise they are capable of successes even when it looks really daunting. Keep up the good work. We love you!
Morgan you needed this after what happened. Your spirit is uplifted. Hope the next birth of the other cow will go well. Betty White is one spunky calf.
Just drawing your attention Morgan that Betty White is drinking only from 1 teat. This can cause problems for Mumma cow. Keep watching and see if you can encourage Betty to drink from all of them.
OMG - that Abbydog barf sequence was both sickening and hilarious! I think that's a first for UA-cam!🤮😂
Haha! We try to break new ground here at Gold Shaw Farm.
I didn't watch you guys for a few months.. but what i love about your videos, is the lovely relationship that you have with your animals - they're not shy or afraid of you and your wife (unlike some other yt'ers and their animals..) so kudos to you! And i love how the farm looks now and how far you've come in the last few years 🌞 greetings from Germany!
Congratulations Morgan another Beautiful calf. Really think the name Betty White is perfect.
Hope Betty got her much needed colostrum in time, not sure if cows and sheep have that in common where it's only a available for the first day or something like that. Thanks for taking us along.🐮❤️👍
She looks magnificent against the green grass! Bravo!
Little Betty White is adorable. May she grow healthy, happy and thrive.
i haven't seen one of ur post in over a year. i never saw ur farm from this perspective. i always saw ur cows from where the birds were. didn't know u had fields. good luck with ur farm animals, u seem to really know them and love to take care of them
That calf is absolutely gorgeous!
Shes so Beautiful ❤ What a Spunky little rascal! 😂 Thank goodness she finally started to nurse. I finally had some extra money to purchase the Toby Dog book! Im so excited to read it. Hopefully Amazon will deliver it quickly. Have a Fantastic Day with all those adorable babies ❤❤❤
She's gorgeous! I love the beautiful names you love all of your animals, Morgan!
You know the saying: Man plans, Cow laughs.
With how she was running wild when you found her, I'm worried Betty White didn't get her colostrum. You might want to look into getting some to try and give to her if you can catch her again. Without it she can get sick really easily. Colostrum carries the antibodies of the mom, and that's what starts the calf's immune system. If she doesn't get that in her shortly after being born, she could be in big trouble like your bull calves were.
That was a relief that the calf worked it out and then stayed with mum. I was worried. Thank you. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
Aww Abby is just so precious looking!❤❤❤❤
Betty White is beautiful!
Awe, so cute and spunky! She is so white(snow) , beautiful! Thank you Morgan! Blessings!
Betty White would be SO on board with this most noble of honorifics.
Hey, Morgan! Maybe you should time the calf births to where they can go directly to the field like this one, so as not to encounter the poisoning in the hay.
Thinking same way. Maybe Randy Savage needs to be a bachelor for a few months longer than last time
Always nice to see Allison.
Sitting down to a hearty breakfast, flipped on your channel excited to see the arrival of a new calf and was greeted by the view of Abbey taking a dump in the field and later scarfing down the afterbirth, didn't exactly peak my appetite but I guess that's life on the farm! I did enjoy the video though, reminds me of the great summers I spent on my aunts dairy farm as a kid.
So wonderful to see the Charolais baby! Congratuations for a job well done. This is your dream moment!
What a cute baby!
Prayers for health and safety!🙏❤🙏
Giving Allison an excuse to pet the new little one. Love the good news!
Nice seeing such a strong calf
Betty White has arrived!!!
I’m so happy for you!
Your upper pastures are awesome. Great job Morgan 🤗👍
Abby Cam.was fun. Conrats on another sweet heifer!
So good to see you again. Great Farm & beautiful new Bettie White"
These escapes are why I think more electric lines would be a good idea when the calves are small. God forbid she managed to get somewhere dangerous. 💖 Adorable girl though 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I believe his whole property has a really good fence around it so she would not be able to get out of the big fenced in area
The return of the cattle to the grass and the e bike is comforting somehow
This calf is such a cutie wootie! You now have a white moo baby! This calf is going to be interesting. She has so much personality. Congratulations to you and Allison.
Betty White looks just angelical!
Also the part of Abby taking a throw up break, that was peak cinema!
BTW careful when Amelia drops, Charolais cattle are infamous for their rather high percentage of difficult births!
Yay, Allison is alive LOL. Nice to see her helping you out in the field. You guys are so awesome with all your animals. Watching from Sooke BC Canada. All the best.
Oh my goodness beautiful, she’s all white and adorable yet all baby animals are adorable 🥰
The view at 1:39 is so beautiful. The sky, the size & shape of the hills in the background... I wish Michigan had more rolling hills like this.
How awesome Morgan. 😊 So lovely to see Alison. 😊😊❤❤
What a beautiful calf! Welcome Betty White!
Hope you keep trying to train her, she be fun to pet.
When halter training I get a lunge line and wrap through the halter then a loop around their butt, then lead. It just gives gentle pressure and keeps them rearing back!
Such a new addition sweetie and good to see them grazing in green pastures .
Lots of love to Abby Dog. ❤
She is adorable.
Great to see them all so happy on the grassy paddocks…the babies are just gorgeous…..you really are loving it all aren’t you Morgan?🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I most definitely am!!
Betty White is adorable and very personable. Congratulations!
Congrats on your new born calf! Betty White, she's beautiful and adorable!
Thank you so much!
I'm so happy you decided to film today. I've missed your films ❤️ 🎉
Gee, where are the protective moms in situations like this? Maybe she's what they'd call a "wanderer", or a "dummy" calf (if she were a foal, that is). These foals don't understand nursing and so they miss getting colostrum, which can cause them to quickly sicken and die.
Yeah, I'm worried that she didn't get the colostrum in time, but I guess we will see.
My calves never spent the first few days in the herd. Always off at the back of the field.
I just learned about this from watching Friesian Horses Channel. A Foal wasn't nursing and I never knew it was called a "Dummy Foal". Thankfully she is doing well now
I believe it can happen to all animals. My understanding the babies not going through the birthing canal/ process properly! They are trying to relate it to human autism! Very interesting🤔
Congrats on your newest addition..Love the drone footage of the grazing
Was there ever any info on what happened with the other two calves after the autopsy? Glad to see the other 3 are so energetic and healthy. I really enjoy these update videos and watching the upper pasture while i'm stuck in a major city with only concrete xD
Bernese mountain dog breeder . better to not give really cold water to a hot large dog to drink the colder water can shock their stomach and cause bloat especially in older dogs . wishing you conitinued success on the farm
No one, and I mean no one, has those super names you give your animals. I laugh through your whole video. Keep up the good work.
I almost puked seeing Abby eating that 🤢😂
Congratulations on three healthy fur babies! And thank you for deciding to make a video for us!
We know the dog eats the after birth. Is it necessary for us to see it up close and personal?
I can't unhear that music.
Recognized it immediately, as a cover of Steve Miller Band , but a truly horrific version.
Time keeps on slippin slippin into the future
Betty White is such a lively little girl. Morgan, I think you'll sure have a handful with her. Good luck! She sure is a beauty.
Abby seems to really love being able to check on the cattle in the pasture
A geodesic dome (5:46), nice! Excellent strength to weight ratio, holds up in windy conditions, looks awesome, easier to construct alone compared to other design (using online calculator). Overall, really good choice.
Ps: There are actually matching geodesic tunnels that can go with it if you're interested.
Geodesic dooooome 🎶
I'll do a full video on that build for Thursday!
@@GoldShawFarm Awesome!
Everything was so nice! The white calf is adorable, I'd love to see her run around some more. I know you'll give her a lot of treats. It looks like you need some fly traps.
Charolais are beautiful cattle, love them.
Congratulations Morgan, new life on the farm is awesome ❤
It really is!
This episode was a delightful surprise. ❤
N.B. don't go out to the top pasture without your phone in the future. Not only did you miss your first sight of Betty, if you have a serious accident ,without the phone, how do you get help? 😊😮❤😮😊
CONGRATS on the new Betty White calf.....Thanks Morgan 👍
Old F-4 II Pilot Shoe🇺🇸
Thanks Morgan that means a lot to this old in my 80's Shoe🇺🇸
Congratulations! It's a baby! So happy to see new calves on your farm!
Thank you!
The sound and video quality is so good! ❤
Just wondering if Abby’s presence might have helped the calf and mother bond? Just that little bit of stress on both of them to kick in the protective instinct and also the need for protection? If anyone has thoughts it would be interesting to see them.
Lol
Acts like a Charlois. Wild as a March hare 😂
