Those disc are a great idea!! So much easier than the bench grinder. I would like to see how you throw a canister set.... graduated sizes with lids. One for flour, sugar, coffee, & tea with labels put on the canisters like you put the mocha monkey logo on. I bet they would sell if you put the sets up in the coffee shop, worth a try anyway.

Nice grinding wheels, every potter needs them. Those carving tools look great, and pretty too, I like the different colours so that it makes it easy to find the one you want. I think you need a meditation session to chill out and de-stress. All the best, cheers Bob 🇬🇧

Love, love LOVE this video! Thanks for posting again!! Sooo cool to know I don't need a huge wet grinding sander belt machine like thing!

Diamond Core Tools are awesome, we have been eye balling those discs for a while. Thanks for testing. I struggle with keeping pieces on the wheel head or tile when throw them. Sometimes I just cant get the clay to stay no matter how much I seal them or work downward pressure on them.

I think I just watched this video with my mouth open wide....wow! Could you tell me how you’ve fixed the grinding disc onto the bat?
Plus, could you also do a video on pulling up clay. I had a good result yesterday but OMG....what a run of disasters I’ve had today. 😩

Krista Wright The disc has a peel off sticky back on them. Just spin you bat and use a marker to find the center. Then peel off the back of the disc and stick it to the bat.

Hey John. The more I think about the grinding discs, one thing keeps coming to mind. When you grind things, how do you keep the bits of glaze, hardened clay, or kiln stilt out of the next fresh clay you throw? In other words, how do you control cross contamination?
Is it a serious cleaning each time you do a grinding session?

I'm struggling at finding a new place to sell my pottery. I've been doing Arts and Crafts fairs but 2 of them just kinda haven't panned out very well so I'm cutting my ties with those and moving on. Your studio is gonna be so worht the time and money!!! Those tools are awesome! Keep doing what you're doing!!!

I struggle with apply glazes evenly. I'm disabled so standing to dip the glaze on is difficult for me. I would love to see a video on how to apply an even glaze by brushing. What brush to use and what is the different glazes out there. This is probably a beginner type video. I'm new to pottery. I love your videos super helpful.

I have issue getting in my studio when it is cold, just have a small heater and it will only get up to 50 degrees when it is in the 20s or 3os. Hoping to get my area more insulated to help with that. But to always look to the bright side, spring is here and it is getting warmer, yes I know my cold is nothing like your cold but to me it is cooooold....

I struggle with how to sell on Etsy. Very nervous about trying to sell my work, constantly telling myself that people won't pay my asking price plus shipping. Being in Canada is also part of the struggle. Shipping is nuts!!

Hey! I know a while back you made hand Warmer mugs, that you didn’t like making too much but then someone in the comments suggested another way to make them and you tried it and liked it a lot better. I was hoping you could make a video tutorial on that soon.

Jon. Check out NCECA, it's a national group of ceramic educators. Later this month they are having a big conference in Minneapolis, many vendors there including diamond corp. Look them up on line, or ask EC. (Since she teaches art). Also lots of exhibitions available the same week in Minneapolis.

I'm struggling with just taking my time.. don't get me wrong, I make some good stuff in my class, probably the most prolific student my teacher has taught; but I'm not satisfied with myself as an artist. I've actually made a vow today to follow the quote of "quality over quantity" before I watched the video. I'm gonna now take my time with projects rather than making things just cause. Thanks Jon for another awesome video, I look forward to visiting your shop one day.

i wanna get into pottery, but i just dont know what kind of kiln to get. a kiln review or kiln tipps/recommendations video would be sweet! (like advantages of round vs rectangle kiln, which volume to get a s an amateur/starter etc etc - digging a little deeper than just an average joe articel on the subject )

I know this won’t probably be answered, but I’m having problems when I throw and pull a cylinder. Mine always seem to bloom out into a bowl.
Maybe make a quick video on how to collar and make a straight cylinder? I’m making cups for my ceramics class so it’s hard for me to not make a blooming mug haha.

I struggle with glazing, I look and look and look at different combos online for examples but then I tend to stay in my comfort zone.... same color combos. So much time money and effort is invested by the time you get to the glaze stage..... anyway I strugle with that.

John, i am working with ceramic tile inserts for my wooden bat on the wheel.....unfortunately i find that when they be ome saturated with water the clay doesn't remain adhered to the darn tile! Baaaaah! Sometimes it stays stuck until i trim the base wth my throwing stick and suddenly it slides!!! Have you had this experience yourself?
