Once you’ve found your favourite blade shapes, you can replace some of the shapes you don’t see yourself using (keep them, obviously, but they don’t need to be mounted and under tension if you hardly ever use them) with extras of your favourites. That way you get duplicates to use for porcelain and stoneware and save yourself some washing up. 😊
Thank you for sharing, Florian! Because you're correct, there aren't that many videos that provide good feedback about tools, even more specifically, trimming tools. I have recently thought about investing in a few DiamondCore tools for both trimming and carving, but I couldn't find any videos that were helpful in helping me make a decision about which ones. Your video is perfectly timed, so I appreciate it so much! 🙌😍
Wow that is a LOT of merchandise; That whole box of tools costs a lot of money - but they are worth every penny! The people at Diamond Core Tools are lovely people and if you're not sure what tools to choose give them a call -- they are wonderful people and will give you any guidance you might need. The tools ARE expensive but the blades never get dull; However, you have to treat those tools properly and not toss them around because the blades CAN break (they do sell replacements -- most people say they never need one). . They have trimmers of a variety of different shapes & curves and I think you might find one of a different shape for those specific tasks you mentioned in the video. Good luck using them; you're going to enjoy it! They also have a 3 piece Sgraffito Stylus Tool set which is great for delicate carving, to do inlays and mishima, etc.; much nicer than just using a pin tool. I'm very jealous! LOL
Love DiamondCore tools. I'm quite excited for you to try their handle extruders. I was highly skeptical of them producing decent results, but they were a godsend in terms of how quickly, easily, and consistently handles could be produced! It's a genius product. Very curious for what you think as such a prolific and high volume potter.
What a wonderful gift. As with all new tools, it will take a while for you to figure out the use of all of those but it leads to a great adventure. I really do enjoy your videos, and I always stay to the very end to watch the tidy up.
Excellent timing on this video - ! I received a gift certificate yesterday and am excited to pick out a few tools. It is super helpful to see them in action.
Hi Florian, thanks for this video! I was lucky to have some of these tools gifted to me during the holidays. They are expensive, but it’s important to look out for anyone interested that the company has promotions and discounts at the end of the year.
Wow this was so interesting to learn about! I really like your pottery videos and am thinking of starting pottery again myself (I worked on some pieces a bit before covid). Thanks so much for these videos!
Great video! I love those diamondcore tools. I don’t have one, they are too expensive for me, but I’ve seen how good and helpful they are. Gracias Florian!!
Wow what a score! You are so lucky! They are the best but so expensive- look forward to seeing you using them all and your evaluation of each of them. All the best- Lynne NZ
Thanks for this Florian. I use Bison and Jae Jin tools and Diamond Core sanders.. I will now look at their range of turning tools as I'm often wishing my tools had specific shapes, especially for delicate necks .
These look very useful. I know that you usually pull handles, but could you sometime also introduce the ones you mentioned for cutting handles? 😊 Seems a lot more stable that these are secured with screws on the side rather than glued? in (Have never thought about that. Oops)
Thank you for this review of these tools ! I was really in terested by their carving tools but I was wondering if it was worth the price. The tools do look sharp and sturdy, I might consider buying some.
Who can resist a box of goodies?! maybe it is time to play with some carving pieces 😉 Would love to see you use the chunky wooden ribs because I looked at them around christmas time, but decided to wait a bit.
Awwww... So lucky! Such a big treasure! I love Diamondcore Tools, but they're quite expensive! I only take advantage of buying when there is a BOGO, or some discount. I love that you can replace the blades if needed, and not have to replace the whole tool. Those sanding blocks work great smoothing bottoms after firing...
This is what DiamondCore needed to do. I have a few of their tools that I was sure I could use, and loved them. However, some of the more unfamiliar tools I've been hesitant about. This has given me more confidence in future purchases. I don't mind paying good money for quality tools I can use. However, I would hate to pay good money for something I don't like. Great video!
Great video. Diamond core has beautiful tools, and few minutes away. The 2 FYI on sanding disc I prefer to stay on outside of disc and all the handles are a different tool also. Thank you for your great advice and explanation of your beautiful art.
That's... a few good hundreds worth of tools right there enough to make any potter drool 🤤but also just wanted to mention it's an understatement to say DiamondCore is probably being very, very generous by sending over that many tools as well....
The uses of DC tools is dizzying! I was drooling a bit as I watched you unbox tool after tool because having purchased a few myself, I know how expensive and how much of a gamble they are. It is obvious why they approached you! Your viewers will definitely be tuning in to hear your impressions as you explore these tools in turn.
Hi Florian, love your videos ! That was so interesting. Sadly the shipping costs of DiamondCore are so high. It costs 41$ USD to ship 1-4 carving tools to Switzerland... I hope you'll have a better rate to ship to England !
Diamond Core makes wonderful tools but the wheel sanding disks are so perfect for porcelain bottoms. I also love the hand carving tools but could see they wouldn't be particularly useful to your current practice. They are costly to invest in but last forever and the blades are easy to change.
Florian, please do a video on the Diamondcore handle making tools. I am terrible at pulling handles, so would love to know whether you think these tools make good handles. Thanks!
There are people who make sets of polyhedral dice who actually buy small potter's wheels and turn them into rotary sanders! The horizontal surface and speed control of these wheels makes them ideal for that use.
Hi, now that it has been a few months - which are the tools that are most used by you. I am looking to add a few diamond core tools for trimming. Having so many options is very confusing and I wonder if buying the entire T set is worth it (given the price). Ur thoughts pls
I loved your video and tried to buy some of the tools, which are expensive but not scandalous for good tools, however the shipping to the UK was £86 !!!!!
Secondly, those sticky bats seem so convenient, you can dunk the whole thing in water or rinse it between pots and you're pretty much never gonna have leftover grit
Even cheaper ones work wonderfully! Most pottery suppliers will sell things like this: www.bathpotters.co.uk/tools-brushes/loop-tools/coiled-ribbon-double-ended-loop-tools/c93 They’re cheap, they won’t last forever but they work! Especially useful for beginners just learning the craft.
Oh Florian, Of course there was no QPQ, They knew you'd mention the company, They guessed you'd do an unboxing, after that, "It doesn't matter what you say, as long as you spell their name right."
Specialised pottery tools tend to be, as I suppose good tools are for an industry. That being said, cheap trimmers aren't rubbish tools, you can sharpen them yourself to a relatively good edge and it's the best place to learn.
Most important tools are your hands. People with shoddy trimmers, ribs and other throwing and trimming tools, a well-trained pair of hands can make brilliant pots. They aren’t a necessity.
I know it may seem like they are overpriced but honestly the ones I am using are several years old and still very sharp. I especially love the carving blades. Watch for the sales they have. Over Christmas you could buy one and get one free. It is also fantastic that when you buy a tool they give you an extra blade.

Genius!
I could really hear the joy in your voice as you described how well the tools worked for you, and how perfectly they fit into your needs!

Love to learn about new tools! And happy to see the package was Ciro-approved
Definitely Ciro approved. That little guy gets over excited whenever we open a package, always thinks it's for him!
So so cool hearing the difference in the sounds the bottom of the cup made as they were sanded. Such a great product!!

I didn't know this variety of pottery tools even existed!
They look nice. I could tell immediately the ones you would actually use.
Wow,this looks amazing. Pls do more videos and try more tools in the future🤗❤️

Very generous indeed - I was shocked by just how many boxes were inside. Very grateful indeed.
Or they recognized that whatever Florian touches turns into a masterpiece with millions watching. Good marketing.
@@KBBF3 everyone’s a winner!
The rubbery mat looks interesting. How did it's 'stickiness' hold up when wet or with slip or clay on it? Did it ever come loose?
Wow!!! Very nice!!! I made all my tools from hammered stainless welding rods/ copper and willow from my garden 😆

Wow Florian! Did you ever get spoiled! 😊 I would love to have these tools. Enjoy! Maybe a video using the carving tools? 😊
I forgot what this video was supposed to be about when I saw the cute pup in the little coat!

That was so interesting. Sadly the shipping costs of DiamondCore are so high. It costs 41$ USD to ship 1-4 carving tools to Switzerland... I hope you'll have a better rate to ship to England !

Thanks for the review. Very informative.
Coo! What a lucky lad you are!
Immensely helpful- thank you!
Excellent Trimmer
Never crossed my mind you could turn your wheel into a sanding wheel, genius 😅
Right? It's going to make certain processes so easy! I can't wait to get throwing again properly.
If you can turn a lathe into a sanding wheel, why not do the same with a pottery wheel? 😅
There are people who make sets of polyhedral dice who actually buy small potter's wheels and turn them into rotary sanders! The horizontal surface and speed control of these wheels makes them ideal for that use.
good tools make everything better.
I’ve used some of the carving tools for trimming but they definitely aren’t made for it. The blade wears down much faster.
Of course i watched all the way...Smooth.
I was hoping you'd say no they aren't the best, now I've a wish list 🥺
Fantastic
Genial. Esos sol lujos demasiado costosos que no todos pidemos darnos . Felicitaciones. 😥
Great video, Florian. I’ll try to find the rubber bat here in Brazil.
Cheers Adriel! I hope you’re able to find one, I can’t wait to do some more trimming with it.
@@floriangadsbydo you still use the sticky bat?
Hello Florian Gadsby! I was wondering what type of clay it is that you use, and how you go about obtaining it? 😊
Cool, very interesting 🧡
Good on you for not wanting a sponsor that has nothing to do with pottery.
You will definetly have some advantages for Your Work with these. 👍
Anything to make trimming more streamlined is an advantage for me, can't wait to put these to good use. Thanks for watching, Mike.

What brand of carbon tungsten tools do you like best?
👍🏻
I loved your video and tried to buy some of the tools, which are expensive but not scandalous for good tools, however the shipping to the UK was £86 !!!!!
Just an idea for the future.
Have give away contests with tools that you don't use.
Already thinking doing it! Through my Instagram most likely.
First of all, thank you SO much for declining any and all Plarium gigs cuz they suck
Secondly, those sticky bats seem so convenient, you can dunk the whole thing in water or rinse it between pots and you're pretty much never gonna have leftover grit
I can't afford diamond core or tungsten carbide tools, so what cheaper tools do you (or other viewers) recommend?
