I never realised I was a Stoic even though I have never come across Marcus Aurelius. Everything mentioned in this video is what I am doing, except the part about waking up early
Couldn't agree more, haven't had to have cold showers yet thankfully. For me it's painting pictures and writing poetry that gets me out of bed. When I am super tired I just do hobbies. But I have gone from a night owl to getting up at 5am everyday person and my only regret is waiting until I was in my 40's to do so. It gives my very life meaning, I have coffee in the plunger the night before and just heat it up in the morning and get to work on my projects. Of all the getting your act together techniques this is by far had the most results for me.
This has helped me in my decision to stay in school or not. It's more a "convenience" than what I want to do, and college has 100% brought out the better side of me. I wake up at 7 every morning and get up, before that, my entire life, I always slept in, felt groggy in the morning, and always wanted to go back to bed. Nowadays I haven't even touched my video games for weeks if not a month or two at this point. All I want to do is work, learn, save, and relax. My conflict with college is every day is eaten by studying, cleaning, and barely working to keep up with what bills I do have (fortunately). I appreciate these lessons, as I probably never would have learned them on my own. I can't help but care deeply about life now. I barely touch my phone when I'm bored, I read, draw, take notes, inspire myself through history. Life is so much larger and vast than we imagine, and it is not a bad thing like I used to think it was. These videos used to feel good but also overwhelming as I never could commit to waking up, but college tricked me into figuring it out (three classes a week make you decide whether laying in bed is a good idea when you can just get up, you're not playing video games or the phone anyway!) I commit to communicating big decisions with my boyfriend, who helped me establish my cleaning business (why I get away with working so little). I feel like the master of myself, truly for the first time.

Buy one of those old school “hammer and bell” alarm clocks if you have trouble waking up. I had a terrible time waking up on time in the mornings. Bought one of those on Amazon for like $10. It’s terrifying and makes you jump out of bed. I hate it so much that now my phone alarm (which I set for 15-20 minutes earlier) wakes me up.
There is another strategy I used in 2008 when I went back to work after a long absence and was worried I wouldn't wake up at the alarm. In the evening before going to sleep I would set the alarm to go off in a couple of minutes, then when it did sit up bolt upright in bed in reaction. Repeating this ten times was sufficient to train a response.

@@00Spedmeg00 Not everybody can goto bed at the same time every day. And some peoples body clock is non exssistant. What if you have to get up at a time to which you do not normally wake? Unfortunately you g people today lack this spirit and cell phones are very much to blame.
I have figured out how to wake up early in the morning and how to reset your circadian rhythm. It is related to the time you eat. You will wake up early in the morning if you’re hungry at that time. So now I skip dinner and I don’t eat anything after noon. I wake up at 5-6 am without an alarm because I get hungry around then.
It’s easy to do so because it doesn’t require willpower or the dreadful “reason to wake up”. If you notice other animals, they have fixed eating times, they don’t compromise with food and sleep. But us humans compromise with that.
Tho ‘only’ an uncle-in same house-of my precious 1 & 3 year old nieces-there’s NOTHING I wouldn’t-HAPPILY do for them! (Or my brother if he wants to sleep in a bit ; )
I start work at 5 am. So I start my weekends at 5 am. Do my fishing or projects before the wife and kids get up and tend to their wants and needs. Balance.
I had to get up at 5:30h am for some months. I kept up with that habit until the quarantine and I feel bad for losing it, my days were way more productive.
I’ve been waking up every morning at 4am to work out in the morning, shower, get ready for work. And start work at 6am for the past.... 7 years now. Just easy. And I got to bed around 7:30pm

Run 5 miles every morning and facing that challenge will make you immediately better at facing any other challenge. This later applied to my professional life and bit by bit it was equally true. Do 3 or 4 algebraic equations with breakfast, by the time you get to work you are a razor sharp trouble shooting machine. Unfortunately you g people today lack this spirit and cell phones are very much to blame.
Ok Boomer
You think really highly of yourself huh? This whole comment was just an opportunity for you to say how wonderful you are.. LOL

Love this channel!
Thank You ...it means a lot...
There is no denying purpose because we both know that without purpose we wouldnt exist.
It is purpose that binds us.
Purpose that created us.
Thanks man .. i was eagerly waiting for it..
thank you...glad we could add value
I have figured out how to wake up early in the morning and how to reset your circadian rhythm. It is related to the time you eat. You will wake up early in the morning if you’re hungry at that time. So now I skip dinner and I don’t eat anything after noon. I wake up at 5-6 am without an alarm because I get hungry around then.
It’s easy to do so because it doesn’t require willpower or the dreadful “reason to wake up”. If you notice other animals, they have fixed eating times, they don’t compromise with food and sleep. But us humans compromise with that.
My Ikaigai is my beautiful baby girl.
Yea there also the reason I wake up 10 times a night too :)
Tho ‘only’ an uncle-in same house-of my precious 1 & 3 year old nieces-there’s NOTHING I wouldn’t-HAPPILY do for them! (Or my brother if he wants to sleep in a bit ; )
I wish you both well a/ your little gifts from God!!
😁
Sleep is so good and "your early morning" can start at any time. Xx
This requires going to sleep early, which I am not physically or mentally able to do
Grateful for this video. Thanks!
Reasons to go to bed:
1. Chance of never waking up
.
I start work at 5 am. So I start my weekends at 5 am. Do my fishing or projects before the wife and kids get up and tend to their wants and needs. Balance.
Alot of girls already have an "icky guy"
😂😂😂
I totally thought that...
Haha nice one!
I need to write some of these down & keep it on nightstand ❤
I thought he said find your "Icky Guy". I thought he meant a guy who doesn't shower or sneezes into the air without covering his face.
LOL
Dude I laughed the shit out loud 🤣
Α Lot of Thanks From Greece!
But what if my favorite thing to do, that I cannot wait to do everyday, is go to sleep?
"Momenti Mori" love that quote

Watching this at 4am after working on an assignment all night. If this isn't optimism, I don't know what is.
This guy acts like everyone goes to work at 6am lol.
@@alejandrop.s.3942 that's amazing. What time did you go to bed?
@@ktee6370 Take the wakeup time you want and subtract 8 hours..........
If you go to bed at 7:30pm you completely lose your evening. And thats the best part of the day for me.

I agree with everything except the cold shower in the morning. That's bloody psychopathic.
Hahah lol, maybe at the end after the hot shower.
Cold showers actually increase your norepinephrine levels. 👍
Inform yourself about Wim Hof and thank me later :)
Your videos have become a daily routine for me.
TLTR.
How to wake up early: set the alarm. When it goes off, Count to five and get up. Make yourself some coffee and go on with your day
I have a tiny problem, I sleep through my alarm.
I also changed the ring tone and it worked!
For the first day then I got used to it.
