How to Clean Up and Expand a Garden
To redefine and expand the garden area, Jenn lined the garden bed with gray cobblestones. These were sourced by Plymouth Quarries [www.plymouthqu...].
Most of the plants Jenn used in the garden were already existing and just needed to be divided up. However, Jenn did select a few additional plants to add some color and textures to the garden, including tickseed, echinacea purpurea, garden phlox, coreopsis, and heather, which she got at Mahoney’s Garden Center [mahoneysgarden....].
How to Make a DIY Air Filter
Ross built the air filter using four, 20x20x2, MERV-13 air filters, which Ross got from Filterbuy [filterbuy.com/]. He duct taped the filters to a cardboard box and a 20-in 3-Speed Box Fan, which is manufactured by Lasko [www.lasko.com/], though any 20” fan would work for this application.
Expert assistance with this segment was provided by Neil Comparetto.
Build It | Adirondack Chair
Tom used the Classic Adirondack Chair Template and Project Plan from Rockler [www.rockler.com/] to figure out how to make all the different cuts. The plan comes with cardboard templates for the different pieces of the chair and some project plans to use as a guide.
Tom built the chair out of 5/4-inch x 6 foot pressure treated decking material [thd.co/3nK536o], which can be found at any home center or lumber yard. Any rot-resistant lumber would also work well for an Adirondack chair.
To cut and shape the boards, Tom used a combination of a 1-HP Steel Frame Bandsaw [amzn.to/3bDvFDS] from Delta Machinery [deltamachinery...], a router table, and an Industrial Table Saw from SawStop [www.sawstop.com/].
The other tools and materials Tom and Kevin used to build the chair, including exterior rated screws and drill drivers, can all be found at home centers.

These longer episodes are great. This is one of my favorite shows next to DIY home gamer channels. Thanks guys keep them coming.
A "flat buggy" wheelbarrow is more comfortable than those Adirondack chairs.
Those chairs do make wonderful father/ son projects which carry memories for a lifetime.
I’ve made a few. It really helps have 2 people when assembling & screwing the pieces together.
Best channel on UA-cam 👍
Adirondack chairs are by far the most comfortable chairs you can find for garden, balcony, deck etc. I have made two by myself, without any of these fancy expansive professional level tools. Only a jigsaw, a driller and a orbital sander. It takes more time, but the result was impressive. In my case I used a few pieces of very hard wood (peroba rosa) that I got from demolishing a old barn in my property about 25 Years ago. They completed 20 Years old, sitting at the garden, standing sunlight, rain, dog bites, kids etc. Right now I am reforming the chairs (they deserved). And I bet they will last another 20 Years.
Great show. All very good information. Watching the plants / gardening makes me smile. Love it
deck chair is great!
it looks like Tommy works like crazy in those "build" montages. At least in this one they get to take a relaxing break with the final product
Great information and building ideas.
Takes me a week to build a chair. Tom does it in 15 minutes.
The cube air filter! Ha! 😊👍
How long would it take old man Tommy to get up from an adirondack chair?
I would have put some cushioning on it to make it more comfortable.
Tommy, a dear friend of mine Walt Graham, an older man I met at the nursing home where I was employed as Business Office Manager and the Adirondack chair bring back a fond memory. Walt was a spry octogenarian who would not stay put! No matter what the nurses did to contain him, he foiled their efforts. Walt just wanted to meet as many people as he could and 'always' with a friendly 'Hi, I'm Walt Graham!' After Walt climbed up, over, and out of a 4-wheeled walker (nurses aides were there to prevent it tipping) and off he went, they discussed possible ways Walt could get through his day without being restrained and they landed on 'the Adirondack chair! One of those recycled milk bottle purple chairs every big box store has was positioned next to the main nurses' station, and Walt was sat in it! Everyone walking by was greeted, 'Hi, I'm Walt Graham!' Soon, everyone knew Mr. Graham! The backward cant of the chair seat prevented him from rising out of it, and the wide stance of the legs kept it from tipping! Walt was happy, the nurses were happy, and everyone who met Walt Graham was happy!
Is there an episode on beginer tools for getting started with a decent work shop and bench?
ua-cam.com/video/Ho1A-NZ-cKY/v-deo.html
I recall an episode Tommy did in Chicago . He helped a woman set up a workshop and if I recall he also spoke about tools
Buy what you can afford. I’m a commercial electrician. I just Milwaukee, honestly you’d probably be fine with Roybi, I believe they have a lifetime warranty at Home Depot. Otherwise Makita and DeWalt or even Bosch will be good. DeWalt has a larger lineup. Don’t buy any of your power tools from Menards if you want them to last longer than a couple projects.
ua-cam.com/video/e9GSTO-4Txo/v-deo.html this is a decent video from a few years ago, there's a few others where tommy worked with a young girl on setting up a workshop ua-cam.com/video/Ho1A-NZ-cKY/v-deo.html
@@AdamS-lh2ug Agreed, Ryobi is usually fine for most tools, the quality isn't amazing but it's good for the price. I buy ryobi when I know I won't need to use them too often. However for my drill/impact driver and hackzall I bought Milwaukee as I use those all the time and wanted some quality tools that could take some abuse.
That DIY filter could be good but it didn't work out for me. I tried a box fan and it was extremely loud. We couldn't stand the noise even being in another room with the fan at first speed.
In my research I came to the conclusion that all box fans made today are extremely loud and they don't make ones that are quiet.
Adirondack chairs were not designed with older people in mind. Tom and Kevin will discover this for themselves down the road a few years. I wish the last scene had run a few more minutes to show them getting up from their chairs.
Where's the ottoman?!
I don’t disagree but Tom is 75 so he must be in good shape, lol.
My wife's uncle builds these chairs with seniors and tall people in mind. And it's quite simple all you have to do is make the legs longer
@@TinManKustoms Hi Tinman have you become a flat earther yet? If not I suggest watch a 13 part series called _What on earth happened_ by Ewaranon to learn that the earth is not a globe. I got it in my about tab.
@gotruut9145 Are ad hominem attacks your best globe proof? ,
14:25 take that to a cigar lounge... let's see how good it eats cigar smoke!!!
The four filter box, box fan filter is a good concept but missing a bit on the implementation.
Make the box fan part of the original four vertical sides and then place the fourth filter on top of those four walls.
Now, place the unit in the same room as HVAC air intake with it situated so that it blows the air in the direction of the air intake.
In this configuration and placement, the unit becomes a whole house air cleaner every time the HVAC activates rather than a single room air intake.
Why would a MERV 13 filter "seize up" a motor? Maybe if it was plugged to the point of passing almost no airflow, but even then that process would take lots of time and the homeowner would have been aware that the heater/air conditioning was not working well. Source: I am a retired HVAC mechanic.

It would have been nice to see the process with common hand tools that the average homeowner or handy person would have. Most people don't have a wood shop at their disposal, and if they did, they'd know how to make this chair without the video...
That's weird, at my home center there's a huge sign, "DO NOT CUT PRESSURE TREATED WOOD INDOORS."
Needed warning for morons without common sense. Given that their shop is ducted, the tools all plumbed with collection, it isnt an issue. Pay attention
Do not open a umbrella indoors, do not walk under a ladder, do not throw salt over your shoulder, do not feed the bears, do not cut pressure treated lumber inside the home center.
That is weird!☠️😵💫☠️😵💫☠️

No offense but I really do miss Roger. There was no info about soil, types of plants she was using except a few, why and where things had to be moved, etc. just ok - let's just move things around and add more plants. I could have told them that!
It's endearing that Tawmy calls Kevin "Sonny".
I follow another UA-camr who just stacks the filters on the back of the fan and then hangs it over his bench in his workshop.

The coronavirus may just go through the filter and not get trapped. The virus is about 120 nm, or 12 microns. Be careful to get the proper filter to block coronavirus.
I just learned something from you today.
What about Soylent Green?
....IS PEOPLE!!!
Charlton Heston (1973)
It's no difference than Face masks over your mouth and nose.
There is no proof of it even existing. Study the stuff in my about tab.
Why show us this in the winter? 3/4 of the country is freezing. Derp!

I believe these videos are from 2020 and it's pathetic that when they visited homeowners they didn't interact with them in the video. Look at Jenn in this video visiting a homeowner with no interaction. All because of a fallacious virus.
In my opinion what Jenn wears is not respectful and she should wear more modestly.
@gotruut9145 Lets start with leg coverings.
@got ruut All women should wear head coverings.

Stop being obsessed with being "safe" (which is an impossibility anyways) and pay more attention to your God-given and constitutional rights that are being violated.
