🌾 We can only do these projects because of our Mossy Earth Members! So if you would like to help out you can become a member here: www.mossy.earth/ We use our rewilding budget to try and restore nature in the most impactful ways. Focusing on keystone species, big impact multiplying ideas and neglected ecosystems. Its fun but above all its impactful in bringing wilderness back to our landscapes. Cheers, Duarte
It made me very very happy to see it! Glad I managed to get that across. It's what many people mind find a boring or uninteresting creature but for me and in the context of this project it was simply amazing to see it! - Cheers, Duarte
About cutting trees. It kind sounds hypocritical, but I think its clear to everyone that the channel helps the trees that were not cut, having a source of water cutting through is allways great.
That's what I say to small parts of plants near a very little river in my village while I attempt to make it not erode (partially caused by my little dams I put on it =) But I think I have already thrown enough dirt in it that I have done more good than bad to that little creek. Mostly because I haven't done much of both to it =]
I will probably never get to visit the places you "re-wild" but I really appreciate the work you guys do! We need more like this.. I just started small by mowing my grass less often.. And right away there were way more insects, spiders, birds and small mammals like mice and mole. In other times of the year I get a lot of snails and slugs. Many people see some of these creatures as pests but I don't really care, I have no vegetable garden or anything.
If you don't end up visiting rewilding areas we work on, I hope you get the chance to visit some in your country! I see you have NL in your username, there are many interesting rewilding areas in the Netherlands where they are trying to bring back nature as well! Thank you for the support! - Cheers, Duarte
@@MossyEarth there is a very nice wetland area in the northern parts of the Netherlands called De Onlanden. Looking at the flag in Bierdopjes profile he is from this province. Once farm land that has been rewilded with a dual purpose of water storage in case of high water.
Whenever I hear that there's no inverters and no corporate results my heart smiles at the idea Mossy Earth can continue to do good without the extra bureaucratic baggage. :)
I would love to hear the reactions from the local farmers/community. What benefits have they noticed? Has this project sparked inspiration in the community to rewild more land?
Genuinely, the love you guys give to wetland habitats is amazing to see. There's some wetland restoration going on in a country park near me, but on top of that, a boggy habitat has been developing independently in an old grazing pasture near the woods.
Thank you for all you guys do 🙏🏼 I wish I wasn't always so broke or I would donate to you endlessly. My girlfriend is on her very last class for her environmental science degree and I work with animals for a living. If you're ever doing a project in the Pacific Northwest of the US, I would love to lend a helping hand ❤
0:25 Wild areas in between agricultural areas should be more commun. Farmer don't like because some animals mess the crops, but there are ways to defend against that. And they gain a more stable local micro-climate, more fertile soil, much better life for insects, and resiliency against natural desasters.
As a member I love the impact and videos. Its really the best value for money, I would spend the yearly membership easily in 1 night at the pub (few years sober now). 👏
Thank you Ian! We really appreciate having had you around here for so many years and always commenting on the videos and keeping us motivated! - Cheers, Duarte
Duarte ,you and Matt and the whole Mossy Team are Kindred spirits ! Let’s all keep doing what we need to do to make this world a better place for nature and for us .. Cheers ! And look forward to meeting you someday!
I cried when you described what you feel walking in a nature dominated area and spotting new creatures, 'cause that's exactly how i feel, and i never knew how to express that, and i didnt need either, as i never met someone with such sentiments and care about nature in my little town in Italy. Thank you and your team for everything you do, i can only dream of being in the team too, but i'm getting a membership as soon as i can!
I am really excited to see how it will look this spring and then especially next year when we can expect some of the plants to start changing. - Cheers, Duarte

It's so good to see that there are people who really care about a nature and our environment! Well done guys
I'm also a wildlife conservationist and I hope to one day have the achievements that you guys do! I love your work and the style of your videos, they're so informative and engaging. Proud to be a member :)
i dont know how tricky it is to get permits to “rewild” rivers but here in poland we have lots of small rivers and creeks that have been straightened and dammed up but if we could rewild them we can hopefully help with flood control, ground water replenishment and to have areas of refuge for wildlife if the odra or the wisla get poisoned again
I think there are some good projects kicking off in Poland already. Hopefully things will spread further and we all start fixing our landscapes to make a bit of space for nature. - Cheers, Duarte
As a person from western Ukraine, I'd guess I know how it looks. Hope some rewilding will happen near you. But as I know nobody is going to do anything near me, I'm just going to wait for a weekend and continue doing my own semi-scientific restoration to that river in the village (The only scientific process being done by me is trying things out and looking what happens =) (My current phase is getting dirt and throwing it into water as additional sediment, and previously I put a small dam on it , which mostly got silted and I slightly lowered the dam level so it just sat on top of the silt so it has less chance to collapse)
im thinking of taking a shovel and making some meanders to help the river kick start making its own meanders.. I just need to wait for the ground to stop being frozen hah
I love the updates and content! As an outdoorsman and avid flyfisher I am always thrilled to see areas returned to their natural states. Keep up the good fight!
I've been a member for two years now, videos like this are so uplifting! I'm curious - is there any talk of seeding rare native wetland species here, or manually introducing the Voles or other animals?
Activists create political pressure and is extremely important. We shouldn't pitch these types of efforts against each other. They're all doing their part for a better future.
Just to be clear if it wasn’t. While we mostly focus on action we agree that activism and especially the type that influences policy is very important and can achieve massive results. - Duarte
your guys' rebuilding the coral reefs video really inspired me!! ive been looking for volunteer work at my local reef to help out :) i doubt it'll be as grand as yours was but hopefully still important none the less!
great and important work as always and nice way of restoring rare landscapes while defeating invasives at the same time, but sad to see these damn trees of heaven and black locusts between the native trees.
It's a neat project in that sense yes. A lot of work to be done but when we can we try to "kill two birds with one stone" or well, more like fix two aquatic habitats in one go! - Cheers, Duarte
I know that editing videos takes a lot of work, but honestly - after every video you guys post, I can’t wait for the next one! What you do is not just inspiring, but truly uplifting and motivating. If the world were fair, you’d already have 100 million followers and could fund all your amazing projects just through UA-cam. Unfortunately, many prefer watching staged videos where some random people rent luxury cars and sell the illusion of getting rich quickly. But it’s real, passionate projects like yours that actually make a difference! What I want to say is that you guys are amazing! Thank you for everything you do - keep going and keep inspiring more people to take action. Our planet, which is the only one we have, needs organizations like yours to take small but important steps toward making it a better place for nature. You have my full respect - THANK YOU! 🙌🌍💚
Wonderful to see more wetlands being created. Cool that there are wild boar, nutria and voles. Should see more species before long. Some of the sedges look like what we call bullrushes in Canada. Lots of birds like to perch on them. Cheers!

I'd say slugs are ok unless they're invasive species

More crops are missing from rodents lol
A reduction of non-native weeds? Fewer asters ect., fewer seeds to land in their fields?
Give it 10 years. They will notice a greater variety of wildlife if other degradations don’t counterbalance it.
14:40 you know you're dealing with a wholesome person when they exclaim "holy fuck" after finding the cutest little animal
Water diversion is one of my favourite restoration methods - Thanks so much for the work that you all do!
Thank you for the work
Keep up the amazing work!
We will! Thank you for the support! - Cheers, Duarte

Amazing! Thank you for following our projects and liking / commenting on the videos. It is a big help! - Cheers, Duarte

Exactly! We need more variety in our landscapes!
In the area I live in in the Netherlands there are some small pieces of land that is “wild” in between agricultural fields
@RepvertYT Thats great!
😂 not really but you keep thinking that
@@aaronsanborn4291 you going to explain your point of view because I don't understand what you're getting at and how this is bad?
love to see it, a lot to be said for restoring wetlands.
Be great to see mossy earth work on Mangrove restoration projects
