- Wow! SNG looks absolutely fabulous in BR Express Blue! See the loco exiting Crewe HS where it's been stabled and re-painted over the winter, before heading off to Orton Mere for a couple of weeks on the Nene Valley Railway.
Watch as the A4 is reversed out of the depot, before positioning to signal CE110 and departing southbound down the WCML.
Hope you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching.

Saw her at Stafford! Now I can tick "See an A4 in steam/operation" off my bucket list!
You’ll need the 2nd occasion now 😜👍
Loving the bright Blue. Wonderful view
They sure look smart in br blue. Probably the most eye catching livery on any locomotive
Looks good
Absolutely! 👌👍
Looks lovely brilliant video well done bye for now Philip
I know Garter Blue is the classic for an A4, but I think that livery is my favourite 😍
very good
Hope I can see her soon, last A4 I saw was 60009 + a look on the footplate!
Great to see SNG in this livery, although wish we could have seen more blue and less steam today!😂. Good to see you again.
Likewise - Good to see you. Great to see the BR Blue back again albeit the black was growing on me! 👍
Simply stunning .
Just too stunning for words...
Saw her at Peterborough!
That livery looks amazing!
Gorgeous. Thank you for sharing this!
I liked the black. The blue is ok.
Vision in Blue!
That really looks very nice. A nice change from green.
Before seeing this I was hoping that she’d be kept in black. I’ve totally changed my mind, looks absolutely wonderful in this shade of blue!
Great video, thanks for sharing
I was a massive fan of 4472 in that Matt black livery. Wish he had another a3 so that we could still have that.
I saw her at crewe as well! I stayed to see the 47s as well!
That livery!! 😍
Looks great 👌👍
Gorgeous blue 💙
Hopefully see it on the NVR over Easter 🐣
I'm not a railway nut and I've no idea how the YT algorithm got to me. But that blue is STUNNING. Look at the 'blue' cars in the car park, pathetic in comparison.
I thought it looked good in the black. Now it looks even better
Agreed - I was a fan of black also however BR Express Blue does look incredible! 👌👍
An A4 shunting has the theatricals of a slo-mo Saturn V launch.
I was going to go see her but weather was awful so didn’t fancy it, sure she’ll be our again tho!
Love this video. I saw her at Leicester Station at 11:37
Any idea when she'll be heading back through Leicester?

I don't know, sorry
BR blue is the best A4 livery in my opinion it looks weird on most other steam engines but it's perfect on A4s.
I agree with that, like maroon or green looks great on the Princess Coronations. Oh and black for a Stanier 2-6-4.
Not seen in blue yet and now it gpin back out again
Letting off a lot of steam
I am puzzled over why so much steam is discharged as a locomotive departs from a stationary position. How the driver can see through it all is a mystery. In the following;-

can be see one of this locos classmates leaving Kings Cross. Here there are no billowing clouds of steam enveloping bystanders on the platform. Just a straight-forward start. When did the steam-enshrouded practice carried out nowadays begin and why?
I grew up in the last two decades of Steam on BR. I don't recall this practice being carried out. That poor fireman went to the effort of shovelling in all that coal - and the driver wastes it!
I think I read somewhere it was forbidden to fully open the drain cocks in a platform in the old days of BR steam and the same applied to the blowing off of safety valves which should be kept to a minimum so as not to alarm or cause discomfort to passengers. I guess the drivers today are more cautious of causing damage to cylinders so make sure they are well warmed through. I don't know if they warmed them like this when first leaving the sheds though.
