  • NO MORE LIGHT04 Bar on my STIHL MS-291
    Thank you all for the help over the last few videos. I went to STI Turf Care and Equipment. They were able to resolve the missmatched bar/chain issue I have been having with my STIHL MS-291. We replaced the LIGHT04 with the Rollomatic E bar.
    Thank you for watching

    set the saw upright, then adjust the chain out while holding the tip of the bar up. once you have the proper chain tension snug the nuts up and then you can let the tip go

    Well Joe 50 acres is definitely cheaper than 10 in my area. Glad you were able to get the right bar and chain combo. Not a Stihl fan but they make good products,we use them at work. I cuss the older ones daily 😂 but they also don't get much maintenance. Hope you feel better soon. Happy New Year

    Awesome video Joe! Took me a second to realize this video was shot before the shorts were done. Lol when I saw you cutting with the ear muffs not on your ears it reminded me of a few years ago me and my buddy were shooting and he was about to shoot his AR and his hearing protection were around his neck. Luckily I noticed he didn’t have them on. Maybe the sweatshirt hoodie was good enough to block out the noise. Buying 50 acres sounds fun. Have a good one! Pohan (that’s my name)

    If i came off as an know it all IM NOT. However Ive seen what happens when a saw is drop started with no chain break on with a NEW person on the saw. My uncle almost lost his Leg and his life. Lucky for him he was able to take a ratchet strap and it acted like a tourniquet to stop the bleeding... His saw the throttle went to max and it jerked and it went into his leg. Think about this for a minute. If you can cut 3 4 inches deep in a HARD piece of Oak your SOFT leg is like melted stick of butter. Its going to hit the bone instantly. I try to start my saws with the chain break ON. and I also try to start the saw with the saw in the correct way 3 points of contact in between my legs. This insures that IF the saw malfunctions I have control. Now you will see some PRO guys on youtube doing things in MANY odd ways I would AVOID that UNTIL you have more experience and have time with the saw to know how it will react. Its like riding a motorcycle. You dont just hop on and BLAST off.. Chainsaws are dangerous no matter how skilled you are. We have to do our BEST to minimize potential dangerous situations. Thats why when you see a person cutting down a tree they know where to escape they create a plan. Unless you are a PRO Faller dont try to do what they do. Its like seeing a guy doing tricks on a bike and then you trying those same tricks. Keep is SLOW keep it simple keep it SAFE. There is a pro faller named Jed Walters who worked with Guilty of Treason. Hes got a video of falling where it got over 1m Views. He was killed sadly and he was the BEST faller ive seen. hes the Real deal guy who lived tree work. And hes sadly gone.

    Hey Joe, go check out the Firewood Midwest channel about 4 months ago with his 400 and the vibration jumping issue he was having with the light bar. And thanks for the shout out Joe, ngnmech is short for engine mechanic. Been a small engine repair dealer for 25 years. the misaligned oil hole issue was on the Dolmar PS-510A and the PS-51051A with the 3/8 20 inch bars that the oil hole was miss located by .140 to high and was obstructing half the oil slot from the saw to the bar.

    • @ngnmech
      @ngnmech 7 місяців тому +1

      Just to add a little content. The first bar was for the .325 chain and the second bar being for the 3/8 chain. The .029/MS290/MS291 was one of those saws that was offered in both .325 and 3/8 which would explain the issue with the bar mixup. It also doesn't help that stihl has always ran .063 driver thickness on the .325 and the 3/8 and didn't use to offer a .050 setup which has come about recently.

    I love my 291 except it's a little heavy compared to the 261. Heft is okay, whatever. Wish it had a full wrap bar. Biggest issue I have is I wish I could turn up the oil volume it puts out because it does clog up somewhat often when chains getting dull and putting out dust instead of chips. Really more my problem because at that point I should sharpen again.

    • @joesoutdoorexperience

      Good evening Groutaone, it seems to be a hiccup/glitch on STIHL’s behalf! For some reason 3 different dealers would give me the wrong chain over and over! The chain that was/is associated with the MS-291 light04 on the dealership website shows a 72 tooth 20” chain that was too thick to fit in the bar guides.
      I hope that makes sense I’m not a pro by any means! Other than this small mix up the machine is amazing.

    That would be frustrating, you spend a bunch of money on a saw and they can't give you the right parts. CDL school in class is long and boring. The written test is similar to car test save questions like "When exiting a tunnel you should be aware of .......... Answer High Winds or crosswords. Pre trip test is where people fail the most. Know and identify parts pf the truck study those. And also no missing or loose nuts or bolts. Driving part be ready to make a lot of right hand turns. And back it up on the line watch your shadows so you know the end of the trailer is in the right spot to park it. The medical has changed since I did it dont know what it is now.

As per the chainsaw, unfortunately it happens!!
