When people look for videos like this, they often end up watching videos that are filled with things that are really easy to Google made by people who don't even live in Colorado. This isn't one of those videos.
Before you decide to move to Colorado, what's it like living in Denver? Outside of the 5,280 foot elevation and the Rocky Mountains, there's a lot more to it. From knowing what the weather is like in Denver, to the cost of living and housing in Denver, how dog friendly is Denver, what the Denver food and and nightlife scene is like, this video covers it.
Denver is one of the best cities to live in the United States, but it's not for everyone. It's very different from living in cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or Portland.
There's a reason why so many people have moved from California and Texas to Colorado, specifically to Denver, which has made it one of the fastest growing and more expensive cities to live in in the United States. You might be thinking of moving to Denver, but it's a good idea to know what you might be getting into by weighing out the pros and cons of living in Denver.

Hey Dave! This video is great! I live in Denver and 100% agree with you!
Awesome video! The weather swings are one of my favorite parts of living here! And the Colorado pride! I think it has to do with the CO flag being one of the coolest state flags 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Yessss, it is absolutely a t-shirt friendly logo 😀
Thinking about moving there one day from Texas for my health. I have fibromyalgia and there is no cure only symptomatic treatments even then those are still close to improve to treat. Our trip tomorrow is a test to see how I feel (MJ free and MJ instead of rx meds) to see if the altitude and weather will help. Phoenix, Vegas and LA are the others.
Love that this is a dog city because I'm both an animal and empath. Brian however it's not even an animal person. But we are ready to start the next chapter of our lives and is supportive of uprooting from Dallas if it means my health will improve.
I'm a night waking person. But we are court folks so cars for transport is a check. Also we are foodies too. But yes gas and the standard cost of living matters. Thanks for mentioning the tolls on the highway in your other video too.
Texas weather settings are pretty effed too. But I love it as long as it's not rain. Because of rheumatological reasons. Also love that healthcare and alternative therapies and therapists are available.
I've put all your videos on a playlist for my bf to watch while we fly. Thank you for being such a wonderful person and favorite Denver personality!
Lily
Thank you so much, Lily! I hope you're having a great trip so far!
Hi Dave, I've been watching your videos a bit. I used to live in Denver a few years back and now plan on moving back to the city. I'll be moving to the downtown area and wont have a car. However, I plan to work in the downtown area as well just a few minutes walk away. If anything I've been considered an e-bicycle or scooter. I've read on reddit that it's quite doable to live without a car in Denver. What are your thoughts for someone who'd be living downtown?
Hey Derrick! I think downtown is one of the areas where you can make it work (one of my friends is doing exactly what you’re planning on doing). Winter will obviously have its challenges, but if you’re good mostly staying in the city, I think you can make it work downtown!
for the pop culture section, denver is a huge city for edm music
Very true!
If you didn’t grow up here, and expect anything more than, a fairly large town with many benefits, but a lot of downfalls: Terrible roads, huge traffic issues, a massive homeless population, and many other downfalls. The freeways are designed for mid 60s traffic. The problem with that is, they don’t have the money to resurface the streets and freeways every .2 or three years because of the freeze-thaw cycles
Don't forget Denver gives that rental rebate split up quarterly. I there's another big check you can get living poor in Denver but I forget what its called. Also we may have a HUGE homeless population but we also have a bunch of new apartment buildings and more on the way . Sadly these apartments are only a third full because so expensive here. TURN THEM INTO LOW INCOME SO WE CAN GET OFF THE STREETS.
Been a Denver native my whole life. Colorado born and raised and Denver has taken a serious decline the past 15 years. New developments everywhere which wouldn’t be a bad thing if we also didn’t have a huge influx of crime, drugs, pollution, traffic, high cost of living, and just the overall “mood” of the city has decline. When I was kid in the 90’s Denver had a “friendly quiet” vibe and feel to it. Yah we had our areas with crime here and there but overall there wasn’t much to worry about.
Nowadays the city is full of the rudest, most selfish people imaginable. Thugs everywhere, drug addicts everywhere, alcoholics everywhere, homeless everywhere. I’m so disappointed and sad as to what Denver has become.
Hey at least the illegals kept the meth and fentanyl prices down everything else is expensive
Great point on needing a car. As the old joke goes, RTD stands for Reason To Drive.
😂 exactly. Appreciate you checking out the video, Rick!!
I always heard Rough, Tough, and Dangerous
Reason NOT, too expensive end off story!
There is a university in Denver that tricked me to come here 💔
I moved to a suburb outside of Denver in the summer of 2020 from NYC. Rent used to be affordable but I’d still say it’s expensive for the amenities that Denver has to offer which is like next to nothing. Downtown Denver shuts down at 9pm the food sucks in Colorado.
You need a car in Denver transit is a joke.
There’s usually atleast 2-3 wild fires of various size throughout spring and summer. Water is becoming a problem they’re starting to put in water restrictions. Hail damage is real.
Colorado is land locked so seafood sucks. There are very few lakes in Colorado and most “lakes” are really man made reservoirs disguised as lakes.
Denver is in the top 3 for car thefts in the country. There’s a growing homeless problem tent cities are popping up.
Oh also last week they announced a property tax reassessment 33% was the lowest and 47% was the highest 😂😂😂😂 because of the increasing home values.
If you live anywhere where wild fires are prevalent you might have issues getting home owners insurance.
I would say that this video does not adequately portray most of the cons of moving to Denver.
You ain't lying. Its to bad to. Its only going to get worse. They gonna give 1000 apiece to homeless people. Shit every body gonna move here. 😂😂😂😂
Worst move ever! Miss Virginia. Co on tap to be california 2.0
I'm from Virginia also and been here since 1993 in the Longmont and Brighton area s. It sure is beautiful but I feel like immigrants have taken over this long before the Joe Biden border problem. Migrant workers used to be friendly and polite and not imposing but it seems like each year less and less of them go back home and us Americans have become a minority. Look at the homeless population in Denver, most all Caucasian, few African Americans and very few foreigners because they're giving all the benefits away to the illegal immigrants way more so than they do to the natural US citizens. Bigger tax breaks, loans and leases way easier. Nice cars nice homes nice clothes middle and upper-class neighborhoods and a downtown full of poor homeless natural US citizen s. Uggghhh !
So the alternative you desire is non whites living in squalor, not bettering themselves, and leading destructive lives to live on the streets? Is there reputable research you can point to that shows migrants are staying in Colorado as opposed to 2nd generation minorities and onward moving to the state? Regarding illegal immigrants, are they actually benefits or simply measures to provide some reprive from harsh societal and economic conditions while they provide needed labor that no US citizen wants to do and keeps certain price inflation low? Are these benefits provided by the state or private lenders, because actual research shows minorities have a more difficult time acquiring loans than whites, unless they are from community based regional banks and the such? If there are no concrete answers for these then it demonstrates that your frustration is more accurately the result of the evisceratation of the middle class by the 1% and greedy corporations/developers.
I see the same comments on all these videos from people who hate that Californians are moving to their state
While I’m someone who was born and raised in SoCal; I’ve witness the disgusting mismanagement of California first hand.
The irony in people complaining about California people moving into their state while California was literally one of the biggest transplant states in the country for decades. People from the east coast and Midwest flocked to California for years.
A more appropriate comment would be “we can’t stand people who flee their state bc they hate the way it’s run, only to bring their same political views with them.”
You forgot to mention the untrained dogs that jump on strangers and all the dog 💩 everywhere 🤦♀️
Even as a dog person myself, ain’t nobody like dodging that 💩!
