Good job nick . I spent my 20’s in almost every town you listed West Of Denver . Colorado has great snow but Park City Utah has the best snow on 🌏 . I must say Utah has the best Snow on 🌏
I've lived in northern Colorado for my whole life and while I appreciate the beauty and mountains n such, it find it to be extremely boring. There isn't much in terms of entertainment unless you have money to spend. And even then water world and elitch's are a chore to get to and be at. Once you've done all the hikes and nature trails there really isn't much to do. I know I'll never be able to ski or snowboard because of the insane tourism traffic in the mountains. And I know once I'm out of my parents house in a year or two (I'm 17) I'll have to leave state to afford anything. Even 1 bedroom apts in most cities here are 1100+. People from other states have truly ruined it. Even small mountain towns are expensive because of the tourism novelty. Camping is really the only thing I enjoy here and that's only realistic for 2-3 months a year
I was born and raised in Denver. My heart is still in the Colorado mountains, so beautiful. My friend lived in Eckley. I lived in Durango, Silverton, Greeley, . I skied, got into cross country skiing. Left in 1984.
tbh, as someone who lives in the Springs, I feel that we are becoming less conservative and more liberal year after year, at least with the younger and growing population here.
Born and raised here and been living in the Brighton-Thornton area all my life of 22 years. I have seen these 2 cities explode. I like seeing things grow but dang. I miss the simplicity of it. My country subdivision will one day be surrounded by shopping centers and malls. The government has changed, the people have changed. I sometimes think of leaving for Utah or Wyoming for more peace and quiet and some extra cash.....
Frank McEvoy it’s not necessarily underrated, it’s just a very niche audience due to the topic of his content which a lot of people just don’t care about
Hey Nick, Lived in Colorado for 20 yrs now... I think it's about time we drag the 'No Vacancies' signs out now & post them on interstates as you enter from another state😅
Definitely getting more expensive. Not enough housing supply to meet demand. And traffic is way worse than 15 years ago. The layout out of the city and highway system just isn't built to support any more traffic than we already have.
Visited Colorado to see whether I'd like to move there. It's definitely beautiful (in parts), but otherwise didn't understand the fuss at all. Denver was very lackluster in my opinion. Great video Nick - as always :)
No kidding. Plus the worst dressed people ever and nobody looked happy or friendly. I visited because my husband went to college there and wanted to see the area again but we wouldn't live there.
@@ufosrus sorry you visited the least friendly parts,I'm a native and believe it was more so before all the transplants.....Rocky Mountain oysters are not a staple here, but beer sure is.Get even close to Boulder and every other car is a Subaru wagon with bikes on top!
You know, it sounds almost exactly like Bavaria and Denver sounds like Munich. I mean seriously, the beer, the Mountains, the elevation, the ski resorts, the cattle, the big gap between the metropolis and the rural landscapes, both states are twins ! (except for Pueblo .. there are no Pueblos in Germany)
Colorado (old Colorado before 2008) is populated by large percentage of people with Southern German/Swiss ancestry who were probably drawn there precisely because it reminded them of the alps.
I have lived in many states, I do my best to enjoy each state and area for what it offers. I have to remind myself that sometimes people spend real money to spend their vacation there.
@@NickJohnson I grew up in the mountains near Salida, went to university in Durango, I have a home between Vail and Grand Junction, and I have lived in Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs for short bits. :D :)
So many dead trees. It's heartbreaking. When we drove through CO in 2019 I actually cried. Entire swaths of once lush, green pine forests were reduced to sticks. We saw the same in Utah. It's alarming.
Bark beetles! I visited last year and saw the same. It sounds like warmer temps over time aren't giving winter a chance to kill them off like normal. It's not definitive that it will continue to be like that and remember that the forests can recover quickly if and when they're given the chance.
@@Matthew-ob9ml I do believe you are right about the winters not being cold enough anymore to kill the invasive pests. We are having a problem here in NJ with the invasive spotted lanternfly. Our trees are dying and it's so distressing to see. But thank you for the bit of hope in your last sentence.
The greenies would not let them spray them, when the trees died the greenies would not let them cut them. when the trees burned the greenies lost their mansions in the mountains, Poetic Justus!
Wow - that was the best quick-flick on Colorado I've seen in a long time - pretty much 100% on the money. The only thing left out is how much more expensive it is to live here. U did an excellent job explaining Colorado u broke down and simplified each city and what it typically consists of i appreciate that that assists me in figuring out the starter overall
Lived in Colorado between 2000 and 2005. Loved all the outdoor activity and sunshine. Back then there were grumblings about all the Californian moving in and changing politics, so it seems that came true.
What city/town did you move to if I may ask? I'm thinking of relocating out there with my adult son. I have to have cooler and better weather. Done with central florida. It sucks here now
I love my state so much!!! Thanks for this vid and that song at the end was fire too at least the first part. Old cowtown Denver is still around some but my memories of being a kid all over the city are the best😊
Montrose/Ouray/grand Junction there is always something to do, Black canyon, Cimmaron Co, Colorado Monument, telluride falls, gondola, hot springs and falls in Ouray , the million dolar highway, San Juan mountain skyway etc.
I love when people poke fun at newer aged people seemingly taking over and changing everything. It's almost as if change happens because life moves on, I mean, I don't see many complaining about what Colorado was before it became Colorado, right?
This is a pretty good video. I moved here for college in 1998 and have never wanted to leave. Even after blowing out my knees so no more skiing. It is a wonderful mix of options. If you like camping or hunting and fishing, lots of options and close states with even more options. If you enjoy quiet mountain town life, it is great for that and many of the towns are not ritzy or expensive as like a Vail or Aspen or Breckenridge. If you are conservative and want a city, you can live in Springs or Pueblo and have some good schools and the Air Force College. If you are liberal then Denver/Boulder will be the place for you, but have some serious cash to spend, at least compared to the rest of Colorado (save the ritzy mountain towns.) Fort Collins gives you a nice mix and everyone can enjoy that city's downtown for sure. Great breweries, lots of sports/activities, absolutely gorgeous views and nice low humidity. Summers used to be great but are getting MUCH hotter quickly. The only downside is the airport is basically located in Kansas.
Lived here my entire life, but just lost my job and am moving to Richmond, VA to work there :/ it’s really hard to leave such a beautiful place with great people
So nice to see Colorado again. Yes the skiing is the best with long long trails with something for everyone from the best skier to the novice. The weather is the best of any place in the United States. Because it is so dry you will never feel too hot or too cold. Sometimes you could even ski with a bathing suit. Bicycling in Denver is the best because they used to have bike paths all over the city. I used to ride my bike to work 15 miles each way without any fear-even, in the dark. Durango seemed like a great place at the time with a population of only 10,000. I used to think how great it would be to live there. This was the home of Molly Brown who made money on the silver mines, was on the Titanic and then died in poverty. Eva
Hey Laurie I went there once I liked it - I stayed with friends in Enfield. It was sunny the entire week and the whole COUNTRY was freaking out. Lovely people, lovely culture. 🇬🇧
Colorado was the greatest state to live in for us. Operative word is WAS- now it’s turning into a mini CA which is why the home prices have skyrocketed.
"Retired Broncos Players" lol. Actually, that's very close to the truth, but it's really retired military. Colorado outside of Denver is chock full of retired military. They are EVERYWHERE. That's an endorsement, these guys get based all over the country and elsewhere and they retire to Colorado. So, yeah, it has that going for it.
I definitely agree that Pueblo lacks in a lot of ways but I kinda wish more people could acknowledge some of the good things in Pueblo, because there are still a lot of good people there...I’m from Pueblo born and raised. I don’t live in Pueblo anymore, but I do think there are endearing and interesting things about it...Puebloans are extremely supportive of student athletics, including football rivalries like the Bell Game (longest running rivalry west of the Mississippi River) and the Canon Game. The reservoir is really fun if you like fishing or outdoor sports- a lot of people use the space like a beach of sorts. It also has a growing art scene and we have an established community of hyper-talented creators. Pueblo has some of the best Tex-mex food, period. A lot of famous people have come and spent time in Pueblo, including JFK who made a speech there only a couple of years before his assassination. And a lot of people don’t know this but Pueblo is actually the location of one of the last chemical weapons stockpiles left in the country. Highly-motivated and intelligent professionals have come from the local Pueblo community and from all over the world to support the destruction of the weapons due to an international treaty, the Chemical Weapons Convention. It’s a project of major international concern, and a lot of people don’t know how great of an impact that has on the nation’s safety and Pueblo’s economy(check out PEO ACWA on UA-cam for more info). And there you have it folks, I’m done with my Pueblo speech for the day lol 😂
I love my state Colorado, and everyone does not drive a Subaru, or get high. As I’m growing up in this state it suck because every where you go there are stupid out of state people ( California, Texas, Wyoming, Utah, etc) and that makes my family and I mad because we can’t even in joy are cabin up in the mountains, or go camping, or go fish on a river. I also love are sports, Broncos, Rockies, Avalanche, Nuggets, the Rapids, and so on and the rodeos only come around once a year so it is a big thing. I love my state and I’m Proud To Be A COLORADO NATIVE
i want to move there when i am older and when i can simply to just enjoy the outdoors and the beautiful mountains but it almost seems like ppl are fucking the state up for some reason
I'm a Colorado native and grew up in Denver. I hate it, I hate it so much. Over my lifetime I've seen this city and state ruined by transplants and our local and state governments completely infiltrated by california and east coast style "progressive" politicians and policies that have created a haven for homeless people and drug sales/use. Denver itself is completely overrun by people, if you like traffic forget LA Denver is for you. Rent has become so high that most natives have either had to adapt or have been priced out of their homes. If you like Hiking or Sking or anything else involving the mountains, forget it because about a million other people have the exact same idea and because of that you have to wait in line and share the outdoors with everyone else making it exactly the opposite of what you want. Before you say, "if you hate it, then why dont you move?" Think about it, where else would I move Kansas? Fuck that. So if you are thinking of moving to Colorado especially Denver, please dont you will only end up HATING it like the rest of us.
Ok, so your commentary on Pueblo is almost accurate. I have lived here (or surrounding areas) all my life. We are not that bad. Only the bad people. But that’s everywhere you go. Southwestern Colorado is a pretty cool place to visit. I felt Ayn Rand was thinking of Silverton, elevation 9,000+ feet and still in a valley surrounded by mountains, when she wrote about in Atlas Shrugged where he'd moved to (others say nearby Ouray which is also pretty cool). The drive (or the historic train ride, I imagine) from Durango to Silverton is unforgettable. Mesa Verde National Park is also fantastic.
You know you've been in lockdown too long when you start signing along with Nick Johnson in one of his "original" video songs. I actually now look forward to hearing his latest catchy little ditties. His singing is like that of an all grown up boy band hopeful who failed the audition, but refuses to give up his dream (how can you not be inspired by that?).
Speaking as a guy who lived in Colorado for a couple years. I don't ski, I don't own a Subaru, and I wasn't high... Well most of the time. It was during my stay that I learned why that little broom is on the end of an ice scraper. The snow was so light and powdery. You can just sweep it off. Definitely NOT here in Kansas, that's for sure!
Many moons ago, visited a friend living in Georgia and we traveled to Colorado Springs, to visit his brother who book a outing at a Live Ranch BBQ with singing = Great Time even though we liked Rock n Roll.

This was the most accurate description of colorado I've seen! I've been living here 1 year, moved from St.Louis last year. I love Colorado! Easy to find a job, friendly people, very clean and organized!
It is a good place to live

I must say
Utah has the best Snow on 🌏
I've lived in northern Colorado for my whole life and while I appreciate the beauty and mountains n such, it find it to be extremely boring. Camping is really the only thing I enjoy here and that's only realistic for 2-3 months a year
😥
Well stated, we need more people like you and less Kalli Kommies
You gotta go south. People think Denver and FoCo is all there is but the centra and southern parts of the state are amazing and there’s no people
Well said, young man.
I was born and raised in Denver. My heart is still in the Colorado mountains, so beautiful. My friend lived in Eckley. I lived in Durango, Silverton, Greeley, . I skied, got into cross country skiing. Left in 1984.
tbh, as someone who lives in the Springs, I feel that we are becoming less conservative and more liberal year after year, at least with the younger and growing population here.
noted.
It sucks! I despise leftists.
Isaac Trujillo hi 😊
Nora hello!
@ Mouse Treehouse I hope we’ve got a silent majority!
Beautiful Colorado
I'm from Colorado. Fairly on point. For a short video, nicely done.

Nick is one of my favorites as well, world according to Briggs is very good also
Nick has one underrated channel on UA-cam if there ever was one.
The whole TREX expansion was outdated before it was even finished.
It used to be awesome until people from Texas and California moved there. I don’t miss it now but loved it growing up as a native.
Visited Colorado to see whether I'd like to move there. It's definitely beautiful (in parts), but otherwise didn't understand the fuss at all. Denver was very lackluster in my opinion. Great video Nick - as always :)
Hey Sophie
No kidding. Plus the worst dressed people ever and nobody looked happy or friendly. I visited because my husband went to college there and wanted to see the area again but we wouldn't live there.

Spread the word. Most of us want to keep Denver a secret, some of us love ❤️ Denver
Hopefully your assessment with keep the implants out.
Is Bavaria a brown desolate wasteland 9 months of the year?
Colorado (old Colorado before 2008) is populated by large percentage of people with Southern German/Swiss ancestry who were probably drawn there precisely because it reminded them of the alps.
spent 4 years in Colorado, went to college there, and I must say, I honestly miss Colorado. I'm from California, but I enjoyed my time in Colorado.
You ruined our state
I have lived in many states, I do my best to enjoy each state and area for what it offers. I have to remind myself that sometimes people spend real money to spend their vacation there.
Yeah Colorado is very beautiful and I got to say I was greeted very well by people that have been living here 50 60 years so some win some lose.
The basically Kansas part had me on the floor lol 😂, Dillion Colorado and the small towns nearby are beautiful
Excellent blast from the past with the Sunshine On My Shoulders!!

Yesss! hahaha I was born and raised in CO and this is accurate. Well done.
Which part of CO?

Denver is a nice city but it’s getting too expensive living in California it’s not that appealing anymore
I love when people poke fun at newer aged people seemingly taking over and changing everything. It's almost as if change happens because life moves on, I mean, I don't see many complaining about what Colorado was before it became Colorado, right?

ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THE CHANNEL
❤️ ya
Lived here my entire life, but just lost my job and am moving to Richmond, VA to work there :/ it’s really hard to leave such a beautiful place with great people
, You're not going to like it there. If it isn't too late, call off the move and try to find another job in Colorado.
Trust me, you'll regret leaving.

You’re absolutely right!
Great video. I really like how you broke up the country with all the different maps. Nice.
Thanks I try!
You're great ❤️
Nick Johnson Thank you!😊
Let me move back to Pueblo with you
I love my state Colorado, and everyone does not drive a Subaru, or get high.
Well you better get used to the idea that your state is getting people from other states and that's a reality everywhere.
Please do a whole video on Pueblo. It's actually nice.

Dang!
Just move to Western Colorado I'm in Glenwood Springs and it's not to bad here

Southwestern Colorado is a pretty cool place to visit. I felt Ayn Rand was thinking of Silverton, elevation 9,000+ feet and still in a valley surrounded by mountains, when she wrote about in Atlas Shrugged where he'd moved to (others say nearby Ouray which is also pretty cool). The drive (or the historic train ride, I imagine) from Durango to Silverton is unforgettable. Mesa Verde National Park is also fantastic.
